Jamie was back on the ground before he could run, and a little disoriented. He watched her try and get away but grabbed her down, pulling her back to the ground and not even bothering to get up. Jamie rolled over and pulled as much snow as he could before pilling it on her, making a small moutain on her torso. He rolled away from her as fast as he possibley could, with total understanding she would retaliate swiftly.

Scarlette was laughing brightly and didn't even bother to make snowballs out of the snow he piled on her, just throwing quick handfuls at him as he tried to make his getaway.
When he was out of her range, she got to her feet and started packing snow in her palms she ran after him. He had the advantage of longer legs, so she couldn't really catch up, but she was giving a good chase.

Jamie was reaching the edge of the clearing, backing up against the lake. He turned with wide eyes before ducking to collect more snow, packing it as tightly as he could. Jamie was incredibley surprised ast the chase she had put up, and sighed with mock frusturatation. THis girl was good, but not quite good enough.

Scarlette didn't know if she was breathing hard from the chase or how much she was laughing, but she saw Jamie turn and get ready to attack.
"You better be careful," she warned playfully. "My offense is very good, and the lake is very cold." She bent down to make another snowball just as he was.

Jamie started laughing, holding up a snowball and standing in a defensive position, "well, I don't really want to fall in the lake. I can believe it's cold. And then you'd have to make sure I didn't catch a cold, and feed me soup. Do you really want to do that?" He joked, tossing the compacted ice at her before bending down and taking another heap of snow in the crook of his left arm.

Scarlette put her hands up to block the snowball, but she still got snow all over her. Her hair was wet from it, and if she stood still for too long, she felt cold, so she threw her snowball at him.
"Well that's an awful lot of work," she said, looking thoughtful. "I hadn't really considered all of that. I couldn't just give you a blanket and send the house elves after you?"

Turning to his head to avoid the throw, Jamie got smashed in the side of the face. He wiped it off with his free hand, although some of it had snuck below his scarf. He pulled it off and stuffed the material into his pocket. No need to have wet clothes on in the cold.
"You'd let a poor house elf take care of me," he put on an expression of slight horror. "The poor thing would have to tend to all my needs. I'd probably work it to death!" He joked, dropping the snow and covering his face.

Scarlette stopped reloading on snow and put a hand on her hip, raising her eyebrow at him.
"Oh, so you'd rather work me to death, then, is that it?" She asked, her eyes narrowing them. "Well, maybe I'll just make sure you drown in the lake. Then no one has to worry about it. Is that cruel?" She asked, laughing, and launched another snowball.

"Oh no," Jamie shook his head, edging away from the lake. If she angled it right, she could send him into the lake, and he wanted to win. He was forming a plan in his head, and he needed a bit more time to sort it out. "I think you're a lot stronger then a house elf. I'd be afraid to ask for more then a blanket, you might hex me." He laughed. A snow ball hit him in the chest, and made him stumble back wards. He grabbed some some snow and tossed it lightly at her.

"I would never hex you," Scarlette said, pretending to look offended. "Well, unless you deserved it. Which you might."
Her temper flaired easily, actually, and she wasn;t afraid to let anyone know it. But Jamie seemed all right, and he was a quick thinker... he had proven it twice now.
"I'd even be nice and give you a pillow if you asked for it. If you survive this battle."

"Hey, I might," Jamie agreed, inching closer. "And what makes you believe I won't survive? I believe I'm going to win. What do you construe as winning?" Jamie asked, before he put his plan into action, he had to make sure it would actually work. He didn't want a mad girl on his case right now. That would definately ruin the moment.

Scarlette, in turn, inched back. She didn't trust him... he looked like he knew something she didn't and she didn't like it.
"I hadn't really thought that far in advance. I suppose until one of us either surreanders or is incapacitated. Which falling into the lake definitely counts."
The snow that had melted in her hair caused some of it to fall in little ringlets around her face and in her eyes, and she looked a lot more innocent than she was.

"Well, the lake seems like such an easier way for me to get you to surrender," Jamie tried to look innocent, knowing he wasn't having much luck. He probably looked like a complete devil with his expression, which was the complete opposite of Scarlette. She looked like she could bring puppies to shame.
He started thinking about how easy it would be to just pick her up and throw her in the lake. It was starting to sound tempting.

"You're the one with your back to the lake, Mister," she pointed out. "I have no intention of losing, you see. I'd go really easy on you if you just surreandered now." She knew that wasn't likely to happen, especially with that look on his face. She didn't know what he was thinking, though, except that he had just mentioned the lake. If she was going in, she was taking him with her.

Jamie nodded before kneeling on the ground hands up. "What would you do if I implied I was giving up?" He asked, dropping the snow. He wasn't really in the mood to go in the lake, but if he kept it vague, maybe he would figure something out to get out of this without completely giving up all together. He just needed a bit more time.

Scarlette eyed him, suspicion clear in her eyes. "If you're only implying it, I don't think I'd trust you at all. So are you implying that you're giving in, or are you actually giving in?"
She took a couple steps back as he got even closer, though he was kneeling. "I'm still armed," she warned him, holding a snow ball at the ready, but she wasn't going to hit him with it unless he attacked.

"Please, Scarlette. You have a mind. Can't you figure it out yourself?" Jamie sighed dramatically. He was studying the distance from him to her, and Jamie could see it would be very simple to just run, and pick her up, and threaten to drop her in the lake. Of course, Jamie wasn't sure if he had the mind to actually drop a girl into a freezing lake. But she's wasn't exactly typical.

"Yeah, I thought so," Scarlette murmured, and she threw the snowball she had at him, sinking to a squatting position immidiately to start packing another one. She didn't know what he had planned, though she suspected the lake. But he was too nice to do that, wasn't he? Either way, she was holding to her internal promise that if he was dumping her in the lake, he was going to go in as well.
She took her eyes off of him while she prepared her snowball.

The snowball hit his shoulder, although he didn't pay any attention to it. Instead Jamie locked his eyes onto hers, and waited for the perfect moment. As she was preparing another load of snow, he watched her eyes stray from his for a mere minute. Jamie took his chance and took at her running. It took three steps to grab her in the air and toss her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, holding her wrists together.

"No!" Scarlette yelled, and tried to throw herself into his shoulder to knock him back. Jamie, however, was a pretty solid guy, and was still on his feet.
"Don't do it," she said, though she was laughing and any threat would have not been serious, except the one she was about to make. "So help me, Jamie, you go anywhere near that lake, and I promise you're coming in with me."
