Jamie laughed too, "Don't expect to be higher then me for too long, Scarlette."
He slowed down a bit until she caught up, preferring her next to him rather then behind or in front. Both of the previous made him extraordinarily uncomfortable. It made him feel just right when he could see the top of her head from his periferal vision.
"Opinions certainly are life or death these days, that with the aurors and death eaters. Choose one side and the others will try anyting to off you. Choose no side, and that may be more dangerous then the other."
"I'm feeling downright terrible," Jamie joked. "I might keel over any second!" He pretended to stumble, knocking into Scarlette enough to make her stumble as well. He righted himself. "I don't know if I'll ever walk the same again!"

Scarlette looked at him, horrified for a brief second. That is, until she realized that he was kidding with her, and she smacked his arm lightly. "That's not funny!" She proclaimed, even though she laughed.
She liked Jaime and his sense of humor, just not turned on her. She would have honestly felt terrible if he was hurt. But he was teasing her... she could take a little teasing, she supposed.
"Jerk," she muttered, grinning.

Jamie looked down at Scarlette and gave her a big smile, "I'm sorry."
It sounded a lot like he was joking, but he was very sincere. He didn't want to totally annoy this girl just yet.
"Really, I'm sorry. You know, you already have me acting like I do with my close friends. You must have some sort of power."

Scarlette looked back at Jamie as he said this, something about the sincerity of it striking her, and that smile faded as she regarded him.
"Don't apologize. I don't mind..."
And a split second later, that smile was back. "I'm a tough girl, I swear. I can take a little teasing."

This statement made Jamie extremely happy. He hated people that couldn't take a little teasing. Jamie wasn't the most dangerous in the bunch, but he had at least a smidgen of humour. And Scarlette did too.
"You think so? I think you're just talk. I could take you on any day," Jamie was right back to teasing. "I got a bit of mass on you."

"Hey, don't underestimate me because of my size," Scarlette replied, for all appearances, completely serious. "I may be short and little, but I have a lot of bite to back up my bark. You'll see." It was said almost tauntingly, almost daring him to push her to find out.
Scarlette, in fact, had enough bite to make up for her brother's lack of one plus all of her own. Jamie, whether he pushed for it or not, would eventually learn.

Jamie raised an eyebrow, picking up on the serious undertone. He wouldn't press to far into detail on how she might have aqcuired that bite just yet, but he was certain he'd find out later if he could. Pressing the subject right now didn't seem like an especially good idea.
He turned the subject light as he could, picking up a small fist of snow and packed it tight. "Is that a dare, ma'am?"

Scarlette stood her ground, almost as if the word 'dare' had perked her ears. There was the faintest hint of a smirk on her lips, and her fingers itched to grab her own snowball. She would let him have the first hit, and then it was fair game.
"Only if you're brave enough to take it," She replied, and there was a definite challange in her voice now. She wasn't the girly, giggly type... if he wanted to take her challange, he wouldn't be disappointed.

Jamie returned the smirk before taking out his wand and slowly building a small fort. They were in the middle of vast clear area, a good spot for demolition of a Gryffindor girl. He whipped up a small pile of pure snowballs about three inches in diameter, and put his wand back in his pocket, not wanting to cheat. He throughly hated cheaters, and made a point not to be hypocritical.
"Make your move," his eyes narrowed with a good natured tone.

"Oh, look at you," Scarlette murmured, watching this in slight awe. She was kind of impressed that he was going all out for this, and maybe it wouldn't be the easy, one sided fight she thought it would be.
She too took out her wand and built up her own fort, and, just because, etched the Gryffindor lion into the front of it. "Just in case you forget which one is yours," she said with a playful grin. She put her wand away then, deciding to build all of her snowballs by hand.
Packing a ball of snow in her gloved palm, she raised her eyebrows. "Call it."

"Look at me," he replied, laughing. He observed as she made her own fort, and etched a lion into it. He was taken a little aback, angry at himself for not thinking of that first. He took a small bit of snow and made a small snowman on top of his little tower, silently making it his protector as she hand made each of her snowmen.
"At least you'll attempt to hit me with something homemade. Made with love?" he asked, almost hopefully, almost.
He grabbed the closest snowball and chucked it directly at the lion, deciding not to hit her first.

Scarlette laughed. "I'll even blow a kiss with each one."
The lion roared when it was hit with the snowball, and Scarlette smirked. Just because she hadn't charmed her snowballs didn't mean she couldn't have fun with the fort. She did nothing to it to cheat, of course, just the vocal lion, but it made her smile.
She took her first snowball and threw it overhand, directly at him. She was not so nice as to start off easy.

The first snowball hit Jamie square in the chest, making him look at it in awe. It was perfect aim, and Jamie growled, picking up two more snowballs. She couldn't win again, that would make him even less in the lead.
He chucked one right at her and one over head, if she ducked behind the barrier. He didn't want to hold back, it was just snow. It's not like it could hurt anything.
"Watch it! You're going down, Gryffindor!"

Scarlette was hit by the first snowball, but easily dodged the second, laughing as she did so.
"You're a good arm," She called from behind her fort as she made a quick handful of more snowballs. It was only a brief moment before she reappeared, a line of four or five snowballs in the crook of her arm.
"You've asked for it now," She said, throwing two in quick succession. She wouldn't waste the third, knowing he would dodge it by then.

"Thanks," he yelled before he saw two flashes headed toward him, he swiped at one, hitting it off, just so the second one could hit him in the side of the head. He wasn't happy about this. SO far, she'd hit him in two vital places, and that meant he was losing. He ducked and piled on as many snowballs as he could into his right arm, using his better arm for throwing.
He peered over the wall, watching her watch him. SLowly, he picked one up and threw it, and then threw himself below the wall again, only peeking over as little as he could. He wouldn't lose.

Scarlette had tried to duck it, but she was too slow, to her dismay. They were even now, two snowballs each. She was waiting for the moment they abandoned the forts and lost count of how many times they had hit the other.
She stayed above her own wall, the lion in her etching pacing now, and waited for him to peek his head up again so that she could throw another.

Jamie suddenly didn't like the idea of a fort, and threw himself against it, making it collapse underneath his weight. The whole wall crumbled, and some had landed on his black robes. He laid, sprawled on his stomach, only his face to Scarlette. Jamie gave her a small smile, then tried to roll over to get away, getting to his knees as fast as he could. He knew she wasn't that slow, and braced himself for another attack, ready at any moment.

Indeed, she wasn't that slow, and she threw as many snowballs as she could while he was in the process of getting up.
That only left her with the slight problem of suddenly being out of snowballs, and she dropped behind the wall of her fort to scramble to build more, trying to listen for the crunch of his shoes on the snow.

Jamie, had gotten hit by quite a bit of snowballs in this process, decided that it was not fair that she had not taken down her fort. Although he did it to himself, Jamie decided to fix that little problem. He practically flew over the snow, cradling the few snowballs that had made it in his arms before smashing into the icy wall, making it burst just as his did. He landed directly on her before dumping a snowball on her head.
"Checkmate." He tried.

Scarlette made a quiet 'eep' noise before swallowing it. She had known that was coming really, but was still caught off guard by it. The fort smothered a few of her snowballs, and she reached out, grabbing the hem of his robes and pulling him down into the snow with her. This gave her just enough time to form a messy snowball and dump it on him before she tried to get away.
