Jacob had been so busy with work that he hadn't had the chance to spend time with his little sister. She was still in school, and his older brother, well, that was something Jacob didn't really want to discuss.
He had been in his apartment, doing laundry and attempting to pick up a few things before he was going to go meet his sister. Earlier in the week, Rhianne had owled him saying that she was going to Hogsmeade, and Jacob replied in telling her to meet him at the Hot Panini for lunch. After all, they hadn't gotten to hang out, so what was better than meeting for food?
Plus, Jacob's cabinets were a little bare, so it worked out both ways. He fixed his robes and headed straight for the Hot Panini to await his sister.

Rhianne had split off from her group of friends as soon as they had arrived at Hogsmeade. It wasn't often that she got to see her brothers, and Merlin knew she never got to see them together.
She was already sitting at her favorite table in the Hot Panini when she saw Jake enter, and she smiled widely, waving him over. "Jake!"

His ears perked up when he heard his name being called. Jacob started grinning and walking towards Rhianne. "Rhi!" Before he took his seat he glanced her over and then held out his arms with a frown. "What, no hug for me? Do you think you're getting to old to hug me or something? Is that what it is?" Of course he was just teasing around with her, something he liked to do.

"Of course you get a hug!" Rhianne said, getting up from her seat and throwing her arms around her brother's neck, and holding him tight. "I've missed you so much, Jakey. How have you been?"
She pulled away from him, gesturing back to the table. "I already ordered butterbeers for us. The waitress said she'd be back soon."

He hugged Rhianne tight and kissed her forehead in a brotherly fashion. "I've missed you too Rhi. I've been so busy, but I'm glad that you caught me at a good time. I still have a few things to clean up in my apartment, but I figure that they can wait because I don't get enough time to spend with my little sister." Jacob gave her a wink.
"I've been alright. I can't really complain." He took a seat at the table and smiled again. Rhianne knew him well. "What about you Rhi? Anything I should know about? You been sneaking around or anything," he said with a hint of teasing.

Rhianne shrugged. "Nope... I haven't been getting into any trouble at all. Well, none worth mentioning," she added with a conspiritorial smile. "I could help you with your apartment, if you need it. I don't have to be back to school until later."
She was willing to help Jake clean, if he really needed to. She didn't mind.
"I know you both hate it when I ask, but I have to... have you talked to Sammy?"

"That's the sister I know," he said laughing. "Help in my apartment? Well, if you want to do my laundry, that would be wonderful. I still have to restock my shelves. I have no food! So, you can go with me to get food and help me restock my shelves. Sound good?"
Jacob's laughter, and his smile faded at the mention of his brother. "I don't hate when you ask it, but no, I haven't talked to him in awhile."

Rhianne laughed. "Yeah, I can do your laundry and some cleaning. And we can go shopping as well. Let's finish our lunch then, and get busy."
She passed over the subject of Samuel then, wishing that her brothers were on better terms. She adored them both, but they were about as opposite as they could be, and it just seemed like she was fated to be stuck in the middle.

"Excellent. I'll give you something for your time," he replied. Jacob noticed that Rhianne didn't mention anything else about Samuel. He didn't hate his brother, he just wished that Samuel was on a better track that what he was. Everytime he was around him, the two brothers would end up fighting. Jacob couldn't remember a time when they didn't fight.
"Well Ms. Tanner, what do you need to get in Hogsmeade today? A dress? Candy? Practical jokes? A new book?"

Rhianne shrugged and shook her head. "None of the above. I'm still working on the last novel you got me, although I'm almost finished with it, and no one's asked me to the dance yet, so I don't think I'm going to need a dress. I came just to see you," she ended with a tone that said, isn't that sweet?
"How have you been lately? Busy?"

"Well, I'm touched," Jacob said with a smile. "But don't worry, there should be a guy that comes up and asks you about going to the dance and I'll have to glance over him and make sure that he's suitable for you." He gave her a teasing look.
"I have been busy lately, after all, I just recently returned from a trip. It's actually nice to be back home. I can say that I actually missed this place, and of course I have missed you the most out of everything."

"Awww," Rhianne said. "Now whose being sweet? I know you can't tell me the details of your trip, but was it good, at least?" She wanted to ask if it was successful, but that would mean asking if the side her brother had chosen had failed, and she didn't take sides yet. She just didn't know what was what.

Jacob grinned, then he slowly let it slip. He sighed and looked at the table. "It was alright. Still didn't find out too terribly much, but it was alright all the same." He knew better than to go into details with Rhianne. He didn't want her to feel like he was forcing her to come to his side, no matter how bad he wanted her to.
He decided to change the subject back to her. "Now, if you want, I can be your date to that dance thing at the school, that is if no one asks you."

Rhianne smiled slowly, regarding her brother. He was very good at keeping her in a nuetral position. Sam seemed to push more, but she supposed that came with the territory.
"I'd like to have you as my date. All the girls will be jealous. The thing is, Jake, I really don't think anyone will ask me. Looks like you get to be the hero again."

"Oh, so you want to make girls jealous," Jacob asked amusedly. "And Rhi you shouldn't think so down on that. You never know what guy could be interested in you and you don't know it." He gave his sister a wink. "However, I will be your date to the dance. It will give me a chance to keep a lookout, but if a guy from school does ask you to the dance go ahead and say yes. It's not going to hurt my feelings. Promise."

"What if I really, really, really want to go with you? Turning you down for someone at school would break my heart," Rhianne told her brother. She could have fun going with him, but she really, truly wished that someone would ask her. It just seemed like everyone else was paring off so quickly, and she didn't want to be the only one left without a date.

Jacob laughed. "Well, I'll go with you, however if there is a boy you like, and they ask you don't be afraid to say no." He gave Rhianne a wink. "Plus this means I have to clean up, including making sure I'm shaved. Do you think I should get a hair cut too? I'm debating if I really want it cut or not."

Rhianne reached across the table, running her fingers through his hair to see how long it really was, and she debated before she shook her head. "It's up to you, but I'd leave it. I like it the way it is."
If he really wanted a hair cut, she would tell him it would look great, too, but longer hair was all the rage now anyway, so his was still pretty short in comparison.
"You clean up nice, anyway."

He tilted his head down slightly when Rhianne reached across the table to his hair. Jacob always wore his hair messy. He would brush it whenever he would wake up, but during the day, it would get messed up because he ran his hands through it.
"Thanks sis," he said with a laugh. "I'll leave it alone then. And I know for a fact that you clean up nicely too. I'm sure that there will a few guys looking at you that you'll have to push their mouths closed."

Rhianne smiled at his compliment. "We'll see," she said. "Maybe I have whole trail of boys chasing me at school, and I just want to see them all writhing with jealousy."
That certainly wasn't true, but she didn't bemoan her single status. She didn't mind it at all. It gave her more time to spend with her friends, and her brothers. And honestly, boys at this point in her life were just too high maitnance.
