"I'll have to pick through them though, and throw the ones that I believe are no good out of the line that will be waiting," Jacob said laughing. "And we'll make sure that they are jealous."
Jacob was slient for a moment. "I'll make sure that I dress up very nicely for the dance then. I can also keep an eye out for anything odd while we're there. But I promise we'll still have fun."

Rhianne rolled her eyes. "And there you go, already talking about work. Just do me a favor and pretend you're not working while we're there, okay?"
She didn't mind, she just didn't want to feel like she was interrupting or distracting him from his mission. That was certainly not how any girl wanted to feel at a ball. It was bad enough that no one hd asked her... she didn't want to be second priority on her brother's list too.

"Rhi, I didn't mean it like that. I'm going to make sure that you have my attention, I'm just saying that I'm going to keep an extra ear out. I promise I'll make sure that your night at the ball will be one of the best nights." Jacob gave her a smile.
"I promise you Rhi. It's not going to be about work. I'm going to the ball with you because we both need some fun. Alright?"

Rhianne sighed, setting her hand in her chin and giving him a half smile. "Uh huh. We do both need fun, you're right." She gazed at him, assessing him for a minute. "But you're an Auror, and I know what you guys are like. Your training is never turned off, is it? Anyway," she waved her hand. "It's Hogwarts. It's safe."
She hoped he was right though, that she wouldn't feel like she was a catalyst for his job. It was bad enough no one had asked her, but to be a second priority to her own brother would be too much.

Even though Rhianne was Jacob's little sister, she could be intimidating in her own right. Especially with her assessing look. Sometimes, it didn't bother him but then there were times like she was trying to uncover something that he could have been hiding. He raised an eyebrow as she assessed him. "Sometimes it is, but it's just natural to keep observe what is going on around you. However, you dear Rhi, are the most important thing of the night. We're going to dance the night away, and any guy that wants to dance with you, I might have a quick chat with him about hand placement." Jacob grinned teasingly at Rhi.

Rhianne laughed. "Oh, you're such a good big brother... threats and all," she told him, and then shrugged.
"You've made everything so much more difficult, you know. Now I'm going to have to go find a dress, and spend time getting all dolled up that night." She grinned. "I'm only teasing. I'm glad Ill be going with you. But I swear, if it seems at all like you're working, I'm going to be very angry."

"I'm going to have to find dress robes," he said. "I think I have some in my closet. If not, then that means I have to go out and buy some. Do you know how long it's been since I really cleaned up?" Jacob looked at Rhianne with another teasing glance. "You will look wonderful, and you might have to close a few mouths." He gave her a wink.
"I promise, I'm going to make the night fun for you. I'm not going to be working. I'll be to concerned to making sure that you're having fun."

"It was your graduation, wasn't it?" Rhi asked, thinking about the last time he had cleaned up. "In fact, I think that was the last time you wore dressrobes, too, because you went straight from Graduation to the Ministry about getting into the Auror training program."
She ran a hand through her hair, not saying anything else about him working that night. "Ready to get some groceries and do some laundry?"

"Graduation seems so long ago," Jacob said. It was true, right after graduation, he went straight to the Ministry to begin his Auror training. "In that case, I'll just go buy some more because I think the ones I have will more than likely be too small."
He smiled at Rhianne. "I'm ready," he said finishing off his drink. Jacob stood up and pushed his chair under. He walked over the Rhianne and offered her his hand to help her up. "I'll even let you pick out what foods you think would be best for me."

Rhianne nodded, taking his hand and holding on to it even after she was on her feet.
"Well, should we add robe shopping to our list of things to do? Although, I'll warn you. If you shop for robes, I am going to shop for a dress, and I just... somehow don't think you want to sit through that kind of fiasco."
At his last sentence, she nodded. "Good, because I know you don't eat healthy enough most of the time."

"I'll go ahead and get my dress robes while we're out. All I have to do is give them my size," said Jacob. "And I'll give you money to get your dress. I'll meet you over there whenever I get my robes to see how you're coming along with picking out your dress."
He gave Rhianne a sheepish grin and a shrug. "I do blame that much on not really having time to go shopping, and the times I'm too tired or lazy to make anything, but then whenever I'm in the mood to make something I usually don't have it."

Rhianne laughed. "I don't care what you blame it on, the fact is, you need a girlfriend to take care of you. I can't do it because I don't graduate for a couple more years yet."
She was teasing him, and the smile on her face would say as much. "Anyway, yeah, whatever you want to do. I could always get a dress on another day, too, because we have to get your dress robes, some groceries, and then go to your place and do laundry and such. We have a busy day ahead of us, and I'll take hours looking for a dress."

"But you do already take care of me," said Jacob. "Whenever we meet you make sure that I have everything and fuss at me if I'm not doing something I should be." He didn't mind the fact that he was single. In his line of work, it probably wasn't best that he did have someone, although Jacob couldn't deny that coming home to nice home cooked meal would have been wonderful. He would go wherever life took him.
"And I am paying for your dress. I don't care what you say, and you don't have to do my laundry, I can do it. I don't mind it."

"I try," Rhianne told him. "You and Sammy both, I try to take care of you guys." The fact that Samuel made it more difficult on her than Jacob did never crossed her mind. She was their sister, and it was her job. She liked being able to do it.
She laughed. "I never said you couldn't pay for my dress... just that I didn't have to pick it out today."

A soft smile showed on Jacob's face. He didn't know what he would do without his sister. He just ignored the fact that she said Samuel's name. His brother was a touchy subject for him, and he hated that Rhianne was in the middle of them.
"Well, I'm just making sure that you don't try and say that you'll get it." Jacob's soft smile turned into a grin. "And if you want, I can always bring you back here and go with you." He gave her a wink. "I think that I'm pretty much excited for this thing."

Rhi laughed at this, and shook her head at her brother. "I think you're more excited about it than I am, actually. I swear I wasn't even going to go to it."
But deep down, she wanted to. She just wasn't going to be dateless at a ball, and her brother had saved her from that. She was a girl... they never wanted to go dateless to anything. There would be far too many other girls getting doted on and it made for a miserable experience.

Jacob gave Rhianne a 'yeah right' type of look. "Yeah, sure you weren't," he replied. "You can't lie to me sis. I know you. Besides, do you think I could bare to stand the idea of you going to a dance alone? I don't think so." Jacob gave her a teasing grin. "And you're a girl. Girls like to go to these things so that they can get all dressed up and look pretty while other people admire how nice they look. And, you get to do that, and dance the night away. We'll do whatever you want to do whenever you want to do it."

"I wasn't!" Rhianne protested and laughed a little. She didn't want to go alone, that was certainly true. It would have been miserable alone while all of her friends had dates, but now that she and Jacob were talking about it, she was getting kind of excited. Really, what girl didn't like getting kind of dressed up sometimes?
"Anyway, thank you for taking me."

"Think nothing of it," said Jacob. "What are big brothers for anyway?" He grinned. Jacob tried whenever he could to make Rhianne happy. He never was going to force her to always side with him, because that would only push her away from him. If she wanted to go along with Samuel, then Jacob couldn't stop her. Whatever she did was her decision, and Jacob would respect it.

"To be adoring and wonderful, and you always fit the bill," Rhianne replied. "I promise I'll try and make it interesting so that you're not bored out of your mind, or looking for work to do. Actually, that's my main goal, is to keep your mind off work."
He had already assured her that she wouldn't even know that he was keeping an eye on things, but she wanted to be sure.
