A new club had just opened in Diagon Alley, and Ursula simply had to check it out. Ursula was a very physical person, and she enjoyed exercise and dancing, so a club was always preferable to a dimly-lit pub. She was always looking for her next ex-girlfriend, as she liked to say.
As she entered the club, with its flashing lights and fast-tempo music, Ursula smiled. This was more like the clubs in Germany, fast-paced and frenetic, nothing at all like the cheesy discotech feel of Spellbound. No, this place was gritty and dark. Just the kind of place she liked.
Without an ounce of hesitation, she approached the bar and ordered a glass of ale. Then she leaned with her back to the bartender and made a slow sweep of the club with her eyes.

Anna had already been in the club for a couple of hours. She had been one of the first ones to enter with a group of friends, her boys as she called them. It was perfect going with them. None of them tried to hit on her, and she could just have a good time.
She had worked up a sweat by now, and was near the middle of the dance floor, holding a drink abover her head as she danced.

"Hey, Mum. You look ravishing."
Lia had to speak loudly to be heard over the music. She had said she would meet Ursula here tonight. It was a new club and there was no way Nat was going to miss it.
She arrived a little later than her mother, though, and the dance floor had nearly filled by the time she was there. She couldn't say that she liked it better or worse than Spellbound. It was different, certainly.
She turned and ordered a drink.

Ursula had been sitting back, sipping her drink and taking in the sights, when her eye was caught by one particular brunette. She was beautiful, with dark hair and creamy skin. But what attracted Ursula's attention even more was the woman's energy. She practically sparkled with it, like electricity.
She tried to look away, but her eyes were continually drawn back to the brunette. She was still watching her when she heard her daughter's voice at her side.
Smiling, Ursula turned to see Nathalia, looking as beautiful as ever. "Oh, there you are, darling," she said brightly. "I'm so glad we got this chance to just go out, like we used to do. What do you think of the place?"

Nat shrugged, unaware of the attention her mother was giving that brunette. "I haven't been here long enough to decide," she said diplomatically. "I like the atmosphere... rumor has it the drinks are the best in town."
She turned and let her eyes sweep the place, though she was eyeing a much different crowd than her mother was. "The clientel seems... promising."

"I'll drink to that," Ursula said, lifting her drink to her lips as her eyes drifted back to the brunette. "The atmosphere is a little more fast-paced than Spellbound. The dance floor is bigger, too." She was already thinking about how to casually dance near the brunette and find out if there was a chance.
"Do you see anyone interesting?" she asked Nathalia, tearing her eyes from the brunette for a moment.

Nathalia raised her glass to toast with her mother, and glanced around the club as she did so.
"There are a couple of guys who catch my eye... and for you?" Personally, she didn't see an ugly girl in the place, but she was never quite sure of her mother's taste.
She wondered if she would see any guys that she had hooked up with in the past... luckily, there weren't many. She was at least selective, and most of them were back in New York.

Ursula smiled. "There are a few interesting prospects," she said mysteriously. She looked back over at the brunette and bit down on her lower lip. The girl was radiant; she stood out among the other people on the dance floor, both men and women. She was at once passionate, yet with an air of the untouchable about her. And nothing made a person more desirable than that. Nodding her head in the woman's direction, she said, "Like that one. The brunette. What do you think? Out of my league?"

Nat looked over, narrowing her eyes slightly as she searched for the brunette. It was interesting to her that her mother had already found someone she set her eyes on.
She watched for a moment, assessing the girl. She was surrounded by men, and she was dancing with them. And while they touched her and were all over her, she just seemed indifferent to it.
"No one's out of your league. And she doesn't seem all that interested in her current company."

Ursula smiled. "Thank you for saying so," she teased. "I've had my eye on her since I got here. And you're right... the guys adore her, but she's not paying much attention to them. She's just having fun." She took another sip of her drink. "It's always risky going up to someone when you're not sure of their preference. But I will admit, I've convinced a few women in the past. I can be very convincing when I want to be." She gave Nathalia a sly wink.
It was nice that she could be so open and honest with her daughter about this kind of thing. Most parents were terribly prudish when it came to their children, but Ursula refused to treat Nathalia like she was an idiot. Sex was a part of life... a pretty good part of it. Why hide from it?

"She looks so familiar," Nat said, still watching the woman her mother had her eye on. She did look familiar, but she couldn't place why.
"Of course the guys adore her," she said, turning and taking Ursula's drink from her hand. "She's beautiful and she knows it. Go dance. I'll come with, if it'd be easier."

Ursula didn't want to be accused of doing the "creepy stare" any longer. She had seen someone she was interested in getting to know, so why sit here and stare at her all night? "She does look a bit familiar," she agreed. "It might be a good conversation-starter." She grinned at Nathalia and got up from her seat. "All right, I'm going to dance with her. Want to come linger nearby? There are a few nice-looking guys over there, maybe you can distract them for me."

Nat shook her head and laughed. "Using your own daughter to help you get lucky," she mock chastized. "Shame on you."
Nonetheless, she set both of their drinks on the bar and got to her feet. "Go work your magic, Mum, and I'll work mine."
She followed her mother to the dance floor, making sure to keep some space between them as she sidled up next to a couple of the guys around the brunette, gaining their attention.

Ursula laughed. "Yeah, well... I'll take any advantage I can get. You can be my... what do they call it... my wing man!" She gave Nathalia a playful nudge as they headed to the dance floor. But as they neared the brunette, they separated, with Nathalia moving toward some of the guys, and Ursula dancing straight toward the woman. At first she played it cool, as if she just happened to be dancing nearby and had no particular goal in mind. Then, she moved a little closer and turned to face the woman.
Up close, she was even more beautiful. And familiar. Ursula had definitely seen her somewhere, yet she couldn't seem to place it. Where could she have seen this woman where she wouldn't have approached her?
Edging closer, she caught the woman's eye, then flashed an enigmatic smile.

The first thing Anna noticed was that a few of her boys weren't dancing with her anymore. Not that she minded. She had hoped the would find someone to dance with, afterall, but she was a girl, afterall, and she was just a tad jealous. She turned to casually look for the source of their new distraction, and saw a very pretty blonde girl.
Young, probably too young for her. And far too interested in the boys dancing with her.
Her eyes caught a second blonde, however, and she the similarities in the two. Sisters, perhaps? And that smile from her suggested that perhaps she showed no interest in the boys the other blonde did.
She didn't quite smile back, but lowered her drink to her lips, her eyes never leaving the woman.
She liked the attention from her. She had eyes that were easy to lock onto, and a pretty smile.

Ursula was encouraged by the woman's response. Their eyes locked, and neither seemed inclined to break the connection. It was a good sign. Ursula could read body language and facial expressions pretty well, and could tell when the other person was uneasy, or just not interested. Neither of those things seemed true with this woman.
She moved in slightly, still keeping a respectable distance for now. She didn't want to come on too strong, but now that she had the woman's attention, she felt justified in getting a little closer. When the song broke, she would attempt to talk to her, but for now, she would just dance.

Anna handed off her drink to one the guys she came with, her eyes still on the blonde woman. How far could she get, she wondered, before the woman either reacted or lost interested? Something sad that she noticed about women who seemed to be interested was that they were often just bluffing.
With her hands now free, she stopped dancing and started to walk towards the bar. Passing Ursula, she leaned in and whispered, "Come here often?" Raising an eyebrow, she continued walking.

Now Ursula was really intrigued. She raised her eyebrows as well, watching as the woman walked toward the bar. She turned and gave a little wave in Nathalia's direction, then kept dancing toward the bar. She didn't want to rush over and look desperate, but she couldn't stall, either, while she had the woman's attention.
As she approached the bar, she smiled again, her eyes locking onto the brunette. "Hi," she said. "To answer your question, not yet, but I will." Winking, she added, "I'm Ursula. Have I seen you somewhere before? You look so familiar."

Anna regarded the woman, almost with disappointment. Was that why she was showing interest? A fan, perhaps, looking for an autograph and nothing more? How tragic that would be. But she could still find out, and there was no point in being vague about it.
"Well, Ursula, I don't believe I've seen you before, no. But I get that a lot... I always remind people of someone. But why don't you buy me a drink, and we can get familiar." For the moment, she didn't tell Ursula her name. She wanted to see how she reacted, first.

Ursula smiled again. "Well, I'm positive I've never met you before, because I know I would have remembered talking to you," she said. "Perhaps I've seen your face in my dreams."
Yeah, it was a little cheesy. But if she wanted to hold the woman's attention, she needed to make her intentions clear. Her eyes still locked onto hers, she waved the bartender over. "I'll have a firewhiskey, and please bring the lady whatever she wants."
