"I've already talked to him, he knows your coming and agrees with me. So get off your duff and come with me. And if it doesn't sound appealing then consider it your punishment for being a jerk with Andi. Now come on, you need to get out and remember that there is life outside these miserable walls and you made this choice and now you need to live with it or go fix it. And since I don't see you going out to fix what you did, then you need to start living with it." Veronica was very matter of fact, down to earth and not giving him any pitty. He'd had enough of his own private pitty party and she wasn't going to let him sit around feeling sorry for something that he did to himself.

Ted sighed. She wasn't going to take no for an answer. He usually loved that about her, but not when it turned on him. "I'm just tired, Roni. I'm probably not going to stay out for very long though, okay?"
He could take her gentle criticism. He knew he probably deserved it, anyway, and he sighed, grabbing his coat. "I'll buy you at least one drink... but you have to let me come home whenever I want, okay?"
He opened the door, letting her out first.

"Two and you have a deal." Veronica grinned, knowing she'd already won as he got his coat and opened the door. She walked out ahead of him and waited for him to close and secure his appartment before beginning the walk from the appartment building to their destination. Her smile softened at her friend as she took his arm to walk with him. In some respects things were almost as if she'd never left home, and she had truly missed her best friend. Though she knew that Ted would likely never be the same until he managed to get his head out of his arse and fix things with Andi, but she kept that opinion to herself.

Ted rolled his eyes. "Fine, two. But as soon as I buy you that second drink, i"m allowed to come home."
He knew it was going to take a lot on his part to try and seem lively and enjoy himself tonight, but at least Arthur was willing to see him again, after their last blow out. Maybe he was lucky, and Arthur and Molly patched things up. He doubted it, but just maybe.
And there was Roni... he had missed her so. He put an arm around her as they walked.

Veronica smiled mischieviously. "Well, then, I'll just have to make that first drink last a while, then, won't I?" she teased.
She leaned her head against him as he put his arm around her. It felt so good to be home and to see her friend again. She wanted to get more details about Andromeda, since she'd only met the girl once and had never had a chance to see her with Ted. But she knew the subject was still a sore one for Ted and she didn't want to make him feel any worse than he already did. Her hope for this evening was that Ted would get a chance to reconnect with the outside world and forget about his personal problems for at least one night.
"We're going to the Three Broomsticks, if that's all right with you," she added.

"I don't have much choice, do I?" Ted asked with a soft laugh that he didn't quite feel. He still was not in the mood for this, but he also knew that Veronica was not going to give in. She was a very stubborn girl... then again, so was Andromeda.
"Just lead the way, Roni," he told her, putting his free hand in his pocket. "Listen," he said softly, a moment later. "Can you do me a favor and not let me drink too much?"

Veronica gave him a knowing look. "You've already been drinking today," she said. "Don't worry, I'll tell the bartender you're cut off after three drinks. Arthur will agree to that, he says you're a ruddy bastard when you drink. Is it true he actually punched you? I've never seen Arthur punch anyone before."

"Arthur did punch me. But that's the only part of what you just said that's true." He wasn't a bastard when he drank... unless he was already in a bad mood. Alcohol just tended to make him a more extreme version of himself. If he was happy, he was a very friendly drunk.
"How did you hear about that? Was Arthur bragging?" Ted asked her, only half joking with the question.

Veronica shook her head. "Of course not. Ted, Arthur is worried about you. I am, too, when it comes down to it. I've never seen you like this. You're not the kind of guy to wallow in self-pity. I know she must really mean a lot to you, and I just think you're making a mistake." She held up her hands, as if to show she was giving up. "But that's the last I'll say on the subject for tonight. We're taking you out to have some fun and forget about your problems, OK? So no more talk about that."

Ted had opened his mouth to say something, but closed it when she declared an end to the conversation. It was a good thing, or he might have just turned around and gone back to his apartment.
He loved her, and Arthur, but he was ready for everyone to stop sticking their noses in his business. He needed time to figure out how to fix things, and whether or not that included Andromeda.
He opened the door for her when they reached the pub.

Veronica walked into the pub and immediately began to look around for Arthur. It didn't take long to find him. He was sitting alone at the bar, sipping on a butterbeer. His red hair made him stand out among the rest of the people at the bar. He seemed anxious for them to arrive, because he kept looking over his shoulder. When he spotted them, he waved at them. Veronica waved back.
"You see?" she said to Ted. "Arthur's glad to see you, too." She took him by the hand and led him over to the bar.

Arthur smiled as they approached. The truth was, he was actually still a bit annoyed with Ted, and this whole thing had been completely orchestrated by Veronica. But despite everything, Ted was still his friend and he was worried about him. He'd been holed up in his apartment for too long, and as far as Arthur could tell, he wasn't even working on the assignment he had been given by Angelique.
"Hey, guys," he said. He glanced at Ted. "Glad to see she finally got you to clean yourself up."

(Oh shush already! I'll post him up in the cemetary lol)
Ted shrugged when they joined Arthur, taking his hand back from Veronica and shoving them both as deep in his pockets as he could. "I'd point out that I'm more than capable of taking care of myself, but I don't think it would be a good arguement at this point."
The truth was, yes he was capable. But he just handn't been doing it. He hadn't really eaten before or since he had visited his parents, and he was looking a little guant. Not to mention that he hadn't shaved when Veronica came for him, he'd been drinking too much, and the only reason he showered regularly was because he couldn't be too dirty. His apartment had been a mess. If Ted took the time to think of all of this, he would have realized that he was simply falling apart.

(LOL... I swear, I wasn't trying to tell you something.... Everyone gives me too much credit...)
Arthur took a drink from his butterbeer. "Look, Ted... I don't want to argue with you, OK? I'm just saying... I'm glad she got you out of the house." He eyed Ted warily a moment, already wondering if this had been a bad idea. He had hoped that Veronica's presence would soften Ted up a little and put him in a better mood. But so far it didn't seem to be the case.

"I wasn't arguing," Ted told Arthur, his shoulders falling a little as he willed himself to relax. Arthur was his friend. Not an enemy.
He caught the bartender's attention. "A firewhiskey, and whatever the lady wants," he said, leaving room for Veronica to order for herself. He would snap at either of them if they said anything about what he had ordered. Sorry, but a butterbeer just wasn't going to cover it.
"How've you been, Arthur?" He asked. He wanted to ask if he'd had any luck with the Prewett girl, but thought that might be a conversation for later.

Arthur shrugged. "I've actually been really busy. The office has been crazy, ever since that girl died at Hogwarts. Vincent's been in a rotten mood all week, and every time I see Angelique she looks like her head's about to explode." He thought it best if, for now, they kept away from personal topics and focused on work. "And it seems like we're getting a lot of people coming back to town. I think the Ministry is calling back everyone who was on assignment outside of the country. I even heard they brought in a new auror from Australia to help out."

Veronica was tempted to say something when Ted ordered a firewhiskey, but settled for a silent, disapproving look. He clearly had been drinking too much of it lately, and he'd already asked her to limit his number of drinks. She would have to keep a mental tally.
Ordering a butterbeer for herself, she listened quietly as Arthur talked about how things had been in the office. She nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's why they called me home. I still had more I could do there, but they wanted me here. But I hadn't heard about the Australian auror. I've only been back for a day."

Ted frowned. That wasn't exactly fair... everyone was getting pulled in from other missions, and he hadn't heard a word, which meant they still wanted him on corpse duty. Bloody ridiculous. He was good at what he did, damn good actually, and they were keeping him on the bench.
He took a long drink of his firewhiskey, and said nothing, letting Veronica and Arthur talk about their lives at work.

Arthur eyed Ted, noticing his silence. Looking back at Veronica, he continued, "Do you know what you'll be doing? I imagine a lot of people will be assigned to Hogwarts and Hogsmeade for protection, right?"

Ted took another sip of his drink... a rather large sip... and looked back at Arthur. "Protecting the bodies of those who die, I imagine," he said, trying not to sound bitter about it, though it was difficult. His skills could have been put to *such* better use.
