"Yes well...odds havn't always been in your favor." he smiled and nudged his friend teasingly before sipping from his drink.

Zachary scowled at that. It was, unfortunately, true; more so recently. His luck had always been good in the past.... but lately it had taken a sharp turn for the worse. Ever since he'd met Susie, it seemed like everything started going wrong for him. If he had been wise, he would have cut and run before getting in too deep. Instead, he blew through his savings and ended up making a royal mess of things.
Assuming a casual expression, Zachary shot a look at Derek. "Oh, ow... you wound me, old friend. Would you like to make a bet, then? Whether Edmund has 'settled down,' as you say?"

"That would be a pretty far fetched bet my friend, you may be waiting for your luck to turn but I wil not be that turning point for you." he laughed," No, if the world hasn't gone straight to the gutter he should be raising just as much hell as I last left him."

As it happened, Edmund was already three sheets to the wind when he received the note from Zachary and Derek. He was not far away, actually, in the Three Broomsticks, downing a large quantity of firewhiskey while flirting shamelessly with a cute brunette. As the note fluttered its way up to him, he snatched it out of the air and opened it up. One look at the cryptic message inside and he broke into a grin. Well, well. Derek and Zach were home, were they? It was about bloody time. He was beginning to think there was no competition left in town for the likes of him.
Tossing some coins, including a generous tip, on the table, Edmund bade his farewell to the brunette and headed straight to Spellbound to reunite with his two oldest friends.
Entering the club, he saw noticeably fewer women turn towards him. It would have annoyed him if it weren't so damn funny. Smiling cheekily, he approached the bar where his two friends were waiting. "Derek! Zach!" he greeted. "So what the hell brought you two back to town?"

Derek was happy to see that he still had the attention of the red head and the blond, but he too knew when Edmund had arrived if only because both Zach and him lost some attention, not all attention mind you and it was considerably less than expected but Zach and Derek were somewhat new they hadn't been seen in a long enough while, to be considered new.
"Holidays and familial duty, besides we thought you could use some help with all the holiday blues getting to the ladies."

Zachary grinned at his old friend. "Edmund, you old bastard," he greeted him, chuckling. "It's good to see you. Hope you've been keeping the home fires burning for us while we were gone?"
Things were already starting to feel more normal, now that Edmund was here as well. Maybe he could finally put California and his bad luck behind him and get back to his old self.

Edmund, already a little drunk, ordered another drink from the barmaid, who he happened to know went weak in the knees when he winked at her. He obliged her with a trademark wink, then watched with a smirk as the girl stumbled.
"Of course I have," he replied to Zachary. "Someone had to keep all the ladies company when you two left. I promise you, I've been keeping them plenty warm. Now, Derek, I saw you about a year and a half ago... but Zach, I was afraid you'd died. It's been what? Three years since you were home? Where the hell have you been?"

"Well, as you can see, I'm not dead," Zachary said with a grin. "Although there are quite a few people out there who would love to change that." He laughed, but there was truth behind his words. "I've been everywhere, really. Did an extended tour of the States. Finally I got tired of being away from home, so I thought I'd stop back here for a bit. Derek found out I was back in town, so we decided it was time to bring back the unholy trinity."

Derek, who was enjoying his friend's reentry into his life still was occupied by the blond and redhead, but the next moment he turned that thought off and gave his sole attention to his "brotherhood".
"Yes it's been too long since we've all been together, we're getting to a point of uncertain respectability." he shivered making a face, "Soon we won't be allowed to raise hell anymore and blame it on our youth." he shrugged, "It's a good thing we're pretty."

Edmund chuckled. "That we are," he said with a grin. "But you must tell me, what have the two of you been getting into since you've been gone? I trust that neither of you have done anything crazy, like get married or anything, right? Because I swear, if that ever happens, I will have to stop speaking to you. That kind of thing can be contagious, you know."

Derek tried to be discreet about his glance towards Zach by letting his eyes move past his friend back to the bartender to order another drink for Edmund while he shrugged.
"Been here been there." he smiled, " And believe me been doing crazier things than getting married...then again crazy in a different caliber but they definitely merit the title of insanity, but who cares about that, tell us how things have been at home. How you've been holding down the fort and if there's any new femmes to bother with."

Marietta just returned home after a few years traveling the world. She did have an extremely exciting time. She had the opportunity to experience new cultures, meet new people, and try new things. What could get more exciting than that?
Although she did have fun in her travels, it was a relief to move back to the UK. After all, she had been gone for several years. Marietta couldn't help but wonder what had changed, if anything at all.
She had rented an apartment and settled in. The basic furniture (her bed, dresser, night stand, couch, kitchen table) was set up before she took a nap. Upon waking up, Marietta took a shower and changed clothes before starting to put away clothes in her closet. She continued working, putting away things before taking a break.
Maybe going to the club for a bit would help her unwind since she still felt a bit of energy still left in her. She could finish her apartment tomorrow. Marietta brushed her hair and headed toward the night club she noticed coming in.
Spellbound seemed to an alright place, but not one she would like to come alone all the time. She could defend herself if she needed to, however. Marietta walked in, and walked passed three guys sitting together. She didn't even bother to pay attention to them, but headed to an empty side of the bar before ordering her drink.

Derek's attention was caught. Anyone who didn't immediately look their way gave him a bit of a thrill, a bit of a challenge, perhaps the girl was married or had a steady boyfriend, well wasn't that a shame? But where was the prince? And why was she left there all by herself? Not very wise of the guy that's for certain. Had he been here on any other sort of business he might have gone after her, but the truth was, he was here with his friends, females took second priority.

Edmund caught the subtle glance in Zachary's direction. Turning to Zachary with a smirk, he said, "Zach... don't tell me you've gone and gotten yourself chained down, have you? It would certainly explain why you'd been gone for so long..."
As the pretty brunette moved past them, Edmund also caught the flicker of interest in Derek's eyes. Hmmm... interesting. A little competition might be in order later. But for now, the three old friends needed to catch up.

At the question, Zachary frowned and met Edmund's eyes. "Certainly not," he assured him. "I'll admit I ran into a spot of trouble with a woman, but I was able to get out before it came to that."
It bothered him that his words felt like lies. He was used to lying, but not about this. What the hell had she done to him?
"And what about you?" he asked, pushing the topic back on Edmund. "You're obviously still single... but you don't have any woman occupying too much of your time, do you?"

Edmund waved his hand in front of him dismissively. He was not about to tell them about Claire. At least, not the truth. "Don't be ridiculous, Zach. I've had to work three times as hard to keep the ladies occupied while the two of you were gone. I couldn't afford to pay attention to any one woman over the others."

Nathalia had just gotten off work and was too restless to go back to her mother's place. Staying at Stu's for an extra shift didn't really have an appeal tonight either, and it was just by chance that she walked by the Spellbound nightclub.
She was single and young... why not?
She opened the door to met with music and people talking and laughing, and liked it already. Not seeing her two uncles and their friend, she walked almost right by them to get to the bar to order a drink, leaning in towards the bartender.

He was amused by their chatter and small bickering but then something caught his eye that sobered him up immediately and put a smile on his face. "Excuse me gents but there is someone I must say hello to, Zach you may want to join me." he smiled nodding in the direction where their niece was. He was protective of her still of course but wise enough and old enough to know that she was a woman and perfectly allowed to be at a club...didn't mean he was going to take his eyes off her. He nodded to his friends before making his way over to Nathalia.
"What's a beautiful girl like you doing in a slump like this?"

Lia turned around, a coy look in her eyes, and an answer ready on her lips when she realized who was talking to her. Her expression changed immidiately and she grinned widely.
"Derek!" she exclaimed, throwing her arms around him. She didn't call any of her uncles "uncle," or any of her aunts similarly, but even if she had, Derek was too much of a friend anyway.
"Oh, Merlin, you look great," she said, pulling back from him. "When did you get back in town? I only came in about a week ago myself."

"A bit ago pet, but I didn't know you'd be here. It seems the whole family's gathering for the holidays. How's your mother?" he asked politely returning the hug. He was always affectionate with family since he loved them all dearly it showed.
