Justin nodded at Jadon. "See you then, mate," he said. He took Susie by the hand. "We're going to have to apparate again," he said to her. "But I promise, we're almost done, and then you can rest. Just close your eyes. We'll be there in a minute."
Then he apparated with her, stopping just outside the Twilight apartments. "All right, let's go inside." He just had to hope that Derek didn't have a woman over...

Suzie just nodded again, having fallen silent. She just didn't have the energy to fight anymore tonight.
When they arrived at the next location, she took a deep breath. "Thank you, again," she said before he suggested they go inside.

Derek didn't have a girl over. Derek never had a girl over. No one went to his apartment but him and occasionally family. It was one small part of his life he preferred to keep private, he had no idea that his own private world was about to be broken into.
When he caught the door opening his brow rose and his senses were on the alert.
"Somebody better be dying." he murmured, " And if you're a thief you've picked the wrong apartment."
Well the right apartment as far as money went, the wrong appartment as far as...you'd get your butt kicked for even thinking about it.

Justin knocked tentatively at the door. "Derek?" he called. "It's Justin Scotts. If you're home, could you open up? it's kind of an emergency." He glanced at Susie, wondering what she would do if this, too, turned out to be a dead end. The woman had already been through hell tonight, and he wanted to make sure she would have a chance to rest.

The door opened inwardly seeing as how it wasn't locked. His brows rose when he saw the eldest Scott child, "Justin." he murmured from his position in the front room. He had been easy calm, but with deadly intent his wand pointed towards the door, when he saw the Scotts kid he stashed the wand but frowned, " Lights." he said and without a second's hesitation the lights came on dimly to show a divinely decorated apartment. It was subtle money, nothing too ostentatious but it was obvious that Derek had money, taste, and a bit of an artistic side. But the room was also imposing, bold, the way the man himself was.
Justin was coming inside with...a female...
"It's a little early for Christmas presents yet boy...and I prefer to shop for myself." he said eyeing Suzette, Derek was the gentlest of men, and the suavest of them when he wanted to be, but right now he was annoyed with this intrusion.

Justin shook his head. He'd expected jokes from Derek, but he was tired and so was Susie. It had been a hell of a night, and for him, he suspected the worst was still to come. "Derek, I'm here on Zach's behalf. This girl... Suzette Rousseau," he added as a quick introduction, "well... she and Zach were involved in California, and now she's pregnant. It might be Zach's, but it might not. She needs a place to hide out from my father and aunt until she can go back to the hospital and have the test done to find out who the father is." He let all this out in one breath, then looked at Derek hopefully.

Derek's brows rose he wanted an explanation from Justin, but the one he laid out was the furthest thing he could think of, then as he said it, it wasn't so impossible. He wasn't sure what to do at first.
He could feel himself capitulating and he hated it but the truth was Zach was family, he could just imagine what Thatcher was putting him through at the moment, and this poor innocent girl was caught up in the mess. He never thought that the reason she also might need to hide was because of an angry fiance, no Thatcher and Tanya were enough.
So shoving the extreme annoyance he felt to the back of his mind he stood, " Miss Rousseau, please forgive me for my comment." he addressed first, he gave a slight nod toward Justin as if to say that it would all be taken care of and then he placed himself at Suzie's side and guided her to a chair, "Please make yourself comfortable. Can I get you anything?"

Justin sighed with relief. "Thanks, Derek. Listen, as soon as possible, Zach or I will be back to give you a full explanation of the situation. Suffice to say, it's a bit of a mess right now. And I imagine Zach's getting an earful about now from Dad." He sighed and put his hand on Susie's shoulder. "I hate to leave you now, Susie, but you really need to be getting some rest. And I need to go talk to Jadon, now that he's apparently been dragged into this mess, too." He rubbed his head a moment, then looked back at Derek. "Thanks again, mate. I--and Zach--owe you one, OK? Just make sure no one knows she's here, especially not my Dad and my aunt."
He headed toward the door. "Talk to you later," he said. Then he apparated and was gone.

Derek hadn't exactly meant to take care of the situation like that, well he rather thought that they were asking for his help to set her up in some place, but he wasn't expecting her to be just dumped in his lap in the rather odd way that it had happened. Still he couldn't say anything to Justin after he left. He figured at the most he'd have this woman here a day. He could pray anyway.
He frowned his brow furrowing a bit, " Dropped you off quicker than a piece of stolen merchandise." he said a bit surprised before he turned to face her again.
Now as he looked at her however, he realized he knew nothing about her...pregnant...and they weren't sure it was Zach's child? Were they sure she wasn't just some scheming girl trying to get money out of Zach? His loyalties kicked in and he was tempted to investigate.

Suzie was a little taken aback with Derek's reactions to her, and she felt immidiately uncomfortable, but Justin left before she could say anything, and that left her face to face with Derek. And it was quite obvious that he didn't want her there.
She couldn't blame him. All of this was rather dropped on him, but hadn't she been assured that he was a good and helpful guy? She missed Justin terribly now, and looked over her shoulder as if he'd still be there.
"I guess I am stolen merchandise, actually," she murmured. "Look, I'm sorry. I'll find somewhere else."

He crossed his arms over his chest and attempted to stare her down. Where else did she imagine she could possibly go? "I assume then you have money for a hotel?"

"Yes," Suzie answered. She had more than enough money for a room somewhere. Although, the more she considered it, the more she wanted to run. She wouldn't though. However much she entertained the idea, she needed to be here, and she'd stay as long as she needed to.
"If you could point me in the direction of one, however, I'd appreciate it. I don't know the area well."

He didn't lose ground, okay so she wasn't completely broke, " La Belle Noveau isn't too far from here." he told her. It was an expensive hotel he doubted she'd be able to afford, but he owed it to his friendship to see this girl from all angles, "I'll take you there myself." he said perfectly congenial.

"Please don't inconvenience yourself," She replied, watching him as he stared her down. "I'll be fine."
All she really wanted was to curl up somewhere warm and sleep, and maybe cry in privacy for a little while, but appearantly she wasn't done with the night yet.
Jadon, whom she had formed avery nuetral opinion on, and Justin whom she trusted, had both promised that Derek would take care of her... it was asking a lot of him, she understood.
She hesitated for a moment, and then turned, repeating the name of the hotel and opening Derek's door, thanking him, but for what, she didn't know.

He wasn't letting her get away that easily. Besides he wanted her to know exactly what kind of family she'd be marrying into the wealth of it, and pending upon her reaction he'd know how to react.
"Oh I insist." he said coming up behind her and taking her elbow in his. He wasn't heartless enough not to grab a coat for her which he draped over her shoulders before closing the door behind him as he guided her out of the room and out of the building.

"Please..." she took her arm out of his hand. "Please don't touch me."
It was a very calm request, like asking someone to pass the sugar, but she was tired of being manhandled for the day. "If you insist on coming, I will appreciate the company, but please understand I can take care of this by myself."

His estimation of her rose slightly at that and he nodded, "Sorry." he muttered under his breath and put his hands in his pockets. While he sincerely doubted she knew what she was getting into he was a little surprised that she wasn't begging for help like he expected her to.
He walked with her in silence til they were outside, "I'm going to have to touch you to apparate us there is that alright?" he asked holding his hand out to her.

She didn't mind the silence, and was a little ruffled, though only inwardly, when he broke it outside. She looked at his hand, and then at him and sighed quietly. He was helping her find a place to stay; she should be grateful.
She put her hand in his and nodded.

He took it gave her a small look a bit of triumph in his eyes but apparated them quickly enough. She had done enough to trust him by putting her hand in his, actually by being willing to stay at a stranger's house. He wouldn't have been surprised if she made an advance on him but she hadn't ...yet anyway.
When he looked up at the magnificent hotel he felt a twinge of guilt go through him which he chose to ignore and studied her face for her reaction, "We're here."

She frowned, looking up at the hotel. Well, at least she'd be staying somewhere nice.
"All right. Thank you... Derek. I've got it from her."
She started up the steps to the doors of the hotel, where she could see a doorman ready to open them for her.
