Slytherin Tryouts (seth, open)

Lani was already in a nose dive from attempting to dodge the bludger, so she leaned into it and chased after the quaffle until she was nose to nose with Rystain, both chasing after the ball, and the ground was coming up fast.

She leaned into her broom more, trying to get a little more speed out of it.

Rystain raced with her and then realized that Ryan had lodged a bludger at them, but he was the one in it's path. He had no choice but to dodge it and watched as Lani moved in to grab the quaffle. But he wasn't out of it for long as he looped back around to try to intercept her from the side.

Ryan cursed. Were his bludgers just strictly against helping him and Rystain out today? Sweet Merlin.

He raced after the second bludger and hit it towards Lani, and then back to the first, this time being more careful of Rystain. He was forcing Lani to dodge the balls in a way that put her right in Rystain's path.

Rystain saw Lani dodge another bludger sent her way by Ryan but she managed to be lithe on her broom, agile and surprisingly quick. He wondered what she'd be like on a better broom, he'd have to make sure she got one if she was going to make it onto the team. So far she was the only one who seemed to have any competence with a quaffle and and a broom. However she was headed straight for him now and he silently thanked Ryan for his skills. He raced up and his broom was headed straight for her from the side in a few seconds they would collide and he adjusted his flight path so that he would end up right beside her, close enough to steel the red ball away from her.

Lani was trapped and she knew it. This time, Ryan was smirking at her. He knew she was trapped as well.

She looked to her left. Any of the other players were too far away to pass to. She could forfeit the ball, but that wasn't the point.

She smirked. "Race you," she said, and dropped the ball.

Rystain was caught by surprise. He had not expected her to purposely drop the ball and saw her dive for it as soon as she did so. It took him a few short moments to realize what had happened before he was able to correct his flight path to race after it. By that time Lani had already gained on the quaffle with a head start on him. He pushed his broom faster but he knew it would be no use, as she was doing the same.

She had made up that little decision on the spot, and she didn't know if she could pull it off... but it was better than just giving him the ball.

She pulled up just before she reached the quaffle so that her broom would even out, and reached down, grabbing it in her hands.

When she looked up, however, she cursed inwardly.

Ryan saw what happened and was just as surprised as Rystain. It was a foolish move, and she'd never be able to pull it off.

Still, he raced to meet them, too, and was directly in front of Lani when she pulled up, the recovered quaffle in her hands, and wide open for Rystain to take it back.

"Nice try, love," he told her, seeing Rystain come up right beside her half a second later.

Rystain gave a wicked grin as he saw what Ryan did and it was all the opportunity he needed. He swooped in with his broom and took advantage of her surprised hesitation at Ryan and went for the kill. Within a blink of an eye Rystain was already speeding in the opposite direction, quaffle in hand. He was also headed across the pitch to the opposing side and avoiding the other players who were trying to steal the quaffle away to no avail. Even a bludger found it's way to knocking off a nearby player as he sped on.

Lani chased after him, but she was too far behind, thanks to Ryan. She wouldn't give up... it wasn't in her to give up, even though she knew she'd never get that ball back.

There were three of them left now, and so far, Seth was the only one who seemed to be willing to use teamwork. She hoped Ryan hadn't knocked him off his broom yet.

By the time Rystain reached the goals, she was still two broom lengths behind him.

Rystain expertly shot the ball into the goal ring and dropped down to catch it as it fell on the other side. There were only three left... Lani, Seth and some guy who'd managed to avoid bludgers but not much else useful. He considered giving another go but looked to Ryan as he flew back up with the quaffle in hand. At this point all he really needed to see was who could catch a snitch. He'd already made his decision on chaser at this point. It was obvious at least to him, though she would still need some work she had the most skill and potential.

Ryan caught the look and shrugged, giving him an 'up to you' look. He had never expected it, but it seemed like Lani was the best chaser that came out. Seth was fairing well, but it was obvious his strength did not lie in scoring.

"I'll release the other two bludgers again, hm?" He asked, flying over to Rystain as Lani flew back towards Seth.

[Rystain Quandry]

Rystain nodded, "...release the snitch while your down there." He was going to give them something else to do besides dodging four bludgers and try to score with the quaffle. This time however he was going to play a beater. "Toss me your club while you're at it."

[Dorian Knight]

"I love it when you talk dirty to me," Dorian said, handing his club over before her bent into a lazy dive to get back to the two extre bludgers and the snitch on the ground.

He still waited for Rystain to give him the signal before he released them, assuming he was going to tell the remaining three what was going on.

[Rystain Quandry]

"Alright, this time same as before only added more bludgers and the snitch." He didn't make a point to explain more, if they couldn't figure it out from there it was their problem. "Release!" He shouted to Ryan without waiting any longer and then flew up to drop the quaffle before racing off after a stray bludger.

Dorian released the two bludgers again, and then the snitch before he raced back up to the game, already headng for a bludger to swing. He hated to say it, but he was aiming for Lani. She was the only one getting close to the quaffle, though when he noticed Seth getting dangerously close to the snitch, he swung a bludger his way, too.

Quidditch, she decided, was much more exciting when played by people that you knew. She was fascinated by her friend's abilities and yes she was jealous of them too but not too badly that she couldn't appreciate form, and technique, and hell want to cheer Lani on, she was giving them a run for their money even if she was a girl, and Dorian, mean man that he was kept pushing.

Rystain started his game of firing every bludger he could find free straight at the quaffle itself. He grinned as it's trajectory started changing with each successful bludger hit. And intentionally making Lani miss her catch as it changed course and making her have to loop back around again to try another catch. The bludgers' angle managing to keep the quaffle shooting into the air when the hit just underneath forcing them upwards. He saw the snitch out of the corner of his eye and shot the next bludger after Seth.

Seth was good at chaser, but he was a better seeker. So the second Ryan released the tiny golden ball, he was off chasing it like there was no tomorrow.

Suddenly though, Seth saw a bludger out of the corner of his eye and dodged it with grace and ease. Too bad though he lost sight of the Snitch. Seth hovered a bit above everyone, looking for the snitch again.

Lani was getting a little frustrated with Ryan and rystain. They were relentless with thos bludgers, and it was forcing her to get creative with how she chased the quaffle. She'd watch the bludgers and come in at an angle to catch them. This way, she was up to there more scores, devoting her concentration to it rather than the snitch.
