Slytherin Tryouts (seth, open)

Dorian growled when Seth ended up near the snitch again. Either he was incredibly lucky, or he was incredibly good.

He found both bludgers near him and sent one at Seth, the other at Lani. The third kid didn't seem like much of a threat.

He smirked when he heard a faint but stifled yelp from Lani. He'd hit her in the shoulder again, but damn the girl's balance, she was still on her broom. She had dropped the quaffle, at least.

The other bludger had collided with the snitch, sending it flying well away from Seth.

[Rystain Quandry]

Rystain decided he was tired of playing games with the quaffle and raced after it only swerving when a budger came close so that he could hit it after one of the players. He saw Seth turning around and racing after something, he looked fairly determined but Rystain had a goal in mind... he was going to try to beat Lani to the quaffle this time.

The Snitch was just in reach when a bludger came out of no where, hitting the golden ball and sending it else where. "You got to be..." Seth rolled his eyes and looked over to Ryan, who was chuickling to himself. "Okay, that's it." Seth said. He saw the snitch resting on the ground directly below him. Seth went into a nose dive and sped up, straight for the ground, his arm out stretched.

Lani was in too much pain at this point to keep an eye on anything but that quaffle. It was falling towards the ground, and she urged her broom after it, not realizing yet that rystain had abandoned hitting bludgers for now and heading the same place she was.

He started out closer, his broom was faster, and he was a more experienced player... The quaffle was as good as his.

[Rystain Quandry]

Rystain saw Leilani racing after him from the corner of his eye, and he knew he would reach it first. Until Seth came out of no where swooping into his path after the snitch and he had to swerve to keep from colliding with the boy. He cussed at that moment and tried to sweep back around but he knew he'd lost too much time and would never make it before she did, so he changed tactics and raced after another bludger.

It was by pure luck that she got the quaffle, though she didn't realize it, and she pulled up sharply, headed for the rings, but she didn't know if she would make it before Seth caught the snitch. He was so close.

Perhaps she should abandon the quaffle and just watch his back.

[Seth Inophen]

Seth wondered if he'd be able to pull out of the nose dive he was in, or if he'd just plumett to the ground with an animated splat. But he was determined, for who knew how many more bludgers to the shoulder Lani could take.

The Snitch was ten feet away from him, and with the broom he had, he wouldn't be able to catch up to it as it zoomed along the grass only a couple of feet off the ground. So, as a hopeful and daring attempt, Seth lept from his broom, stretching out as far as he could. His fingers just barely grasped the golden ball in his gloved hand and Seth quickly summersaulted on the grass. His broom zoomed around and came back to him and Seth grabbed it with his unoccupied.

"Hey Ryst, Ryan!" Seth called out to the beaters, holding up his hand that held the snitch in his palm, a wide grin across his face.

As soon as he heard Seth's voice, he flew down to where Seth was and left Ryan to catch the bludgers. He saw the snitch in Seth's hand and grinned. "Nice move there Seth." He'd seen him go for the dive and was quite impressed. He was glad he'd been right about Seth, the boy was not only good at strategy, he hadn't gotten hit once either.. and he'd managed to catch the snitch.

"Welcome to the team Seeker," he said softly so that only Seth could hear and smiled patted him on the shoulder and raced back off to help Ryan get the nasty bludgers back in their box.

Dorian glanced down when he heard Seth's voice, and smiled a little. "Well done, kiddo," he said softly. No one else would have heard him.

Quickly, he raced after the bludgers, fighting both of them as he sank to the ground, thankful when Rystain came over to help him wrestle them into the box. "Well, that went well."

[Rystain Quandry]

"That went better than expected, thanks for your help today Ryan. I think the two choices are pretty obvious but do you have any objections to Seth as seeker and Lani as our new chaser?" He spoke as he helped Ryan put the equipment into their box. He valued Ryan's opinion and didn't think he'd disagree, but it never hurt to make sure. "Though I have to admit, that was a side of Lani I never expected to see. She even took a few of your hits without complaint. And we both know what that must have cost her. I should check on her as soon as I put the equipment away and make sure you didn't break anything." He chuckled, not carring if Ryan learned about his attraction for the girl. He hadn't told Ryan yet and hadn't really been seen with her so he figured he might as well let his best friend know that he was seeing her at least, now that she was going to be on the team. "I'm going to ask her to the dance I think."

"Yeah, I'm a little surprised with Lani myself," Ryan said, brushing his hands off on his robes when the bludgers were finally safely stored. "And you don't need to thank me. I wasn't going to let you have all the fun out here."

He was about to tell Rystain to not worry about Lani. If she was hurt... and he wouldn't be surprised... she could go to Madam Pomfrey and be done with it. But both eyebrows went up wen Rystain continued and said he wanted to ask her to the dance.

"Whoa... wait. I missed something here. You and Lani? When did this happen?" Then, his eyes narrowed. "You're not going to go easy on her at practices, are you?"

[Samantha Montgomery]

Sam's heart had raced with excitement and worry when Seth leaped off his broom and somersaulted on the ground she didn't realize how much the kid had come to mean to her as a friend, not to mention just the sheer boldness of the move was respectable.

She saw that they were finishing up and her own heart had to resume it's peace. She told Ryan that she would watch but that was more than she had expected to see and she had been plesantly surprised. She would go out there when they were finished but had started the trek downwards and waited by the sidelines.

[Rystain Quandry]

"Me go easy on her? You should know me better than that.. I might not like to hurt a girl's feelings but all is fair in dueling and quidditch." He smirked. "But I'm sure if I do you'll be there to make sure to make up for my lack of fairness if I do right?" He was sure that he wouldn't purposely go easy on her, she'd just gotten lucky from him today that was all.

Dorian shrugged and smiled easily. "The girl was a monster... did you see how many points she got? Someone had to stop her."

She was good, he would admit it, but she still needed work. "Look, she's sweet and all, but if you go easy on her, I swear to Merlin I'm teasing both of you mercilessly. I know how it goes. She bats her eyelashes and you'd do anything she could think to ask. Don't give in."

Ryan was half teasing his friend, but some part of him was serious, too. "Hey, listen... I'm supposed to catch up with Sam... you got these okay?"

[Samantha Montgomery]

Sam wanted to congratulate Seth and Lani, although the latter might not appreciate it, she still thought they had done an amazing job, but she wondered if she'd be able to catch them before they went in and yet she didn't want to go out to the field until she was sure they were done so she stood idly by the sidelines her broom in hand.

[Rystain Quandry]

"I would dream of going easy on her... " Rystain chuckled at Ryan. "Seriously, you know that it's all fun and games till it's time to focus. So wait.. are you and Sam... ?" he let the question hang in the air. He didn't really care but it found it entertaining if Sam had finally found someone she would let past her guard.

Dorian shook his head. "No, we're not," he answered definitively, but without anger about it. "Just friends. For now." He wouldn't rule anything out in the future, but he was getting along well with Sam for now.

"I don't hook up quite as easily and you... and Rabastan... and Devin. They haven't given the sixth years that class yet."

[Rystain Quandry]

"I distinctly remember taking that class in fifth year.... you should sign up next time class is open." He was chuckling as he nodded over to Sam, indicating which class he was referring to. There was nothing behind the comments however than just general guy talk between friends. "But you're probably right, as soon as we graduate I'm sure it will all change for you Ryan." He was still chuckling.

Dorian laughed. "Yeah, when you three aren't around to steal all of the girls. Lani's in my year... shouldn't she be mine, then?" He teased, getting a thoughtful look on his face. "I might have to work on that."

[Rystain Quandry]

Normally Rystain didn't get bothered about the idea of a girl he was with being with another guy, after all he was usually never with only one girl at any one time either... but the idea of Ryan with Lani made him frown. Come to think of it the idea of Lani with any guy made him frown. It was a distinctly new feeling for him and he didn't like it. What the hell was wrong with him? He shouldn't care what she did when she wasn't with him but he wasn't happy with the thought.
