It's off to the Dressmaker We Go (Hufflepuffs)

Eve was slightly nervous when she woke up that morning, she knew that Josh, Lance, Viv, and herself had planned on going shopping for their dress clothes this weekend for the upcoming dance. She wanted to pick something perfect, something that would make her look...well she wanted to look her best for Josh.

She still couldn't believe that he had asked her, or that things ...might be changing about them, she hadn't imagined that night in the astronomy tower did she? That was real wasn't it? They had almost kissed...didn't they? Or had she been dreaming completely?

Either way nothing was getting her out of this dance where she would have to dress up, she just hoped she didn't look like a little girl playing at dress up, she'd give anything to look as great as she knew Viv would.

Be that as it may she was the first one dressed and down in the common room waiting for the rest of her group.

Josh took a few extra minutes getting ready. For some reason, he wanted to look nice today. Part of the reason was Eve. Once he made sure that his hair was sticking up in all the right places and his clothes were wrinkle free, Josh walked down the stairs to the common room.

His brother seemed to be taking a little bit longer than usual, but that was probably just for Genevieve. Once Josh made it to the common room, his eyes landed on Eve. She looked beautiful as ever. A smile crossed his lips and he walked right up to her.

"Morning Eva," he said as he reached her.

"Hey Josh." her smile laxed and she felt that peculiar warm sensation she often got when he was around, " Is Lance still abed?" she asked teasing the poor man in his absence but it was in good fun.

Lance woke up late and Josh had already been getting ready. After asking what he was up so blasted early for on a non-quidditch practice day, Josh had deemed it worthy to remind him that today they were going shopping with the girls. He groaned. Not that he was going shopping with them but because it was his one day to sleep in and he'd been looking forward to it since he obviously had forgotten it was this weekend.

Lance waited for his brother to finish using the mirror.. he'd been using it for an extra long time it seemed and Lance used the moment to get dressed. Luckily he usually already had his clothes unwrinkled and waiting for the morning so he didn't have to go searching as hard as Josh had. Laying on his bed he'd been fiddling with his broomstick and as soon as Josh was done with the mirror he jumped up and brushed his hair and teeth really fast. By the time he got done though, his brother had already vanished out of the room. Lance rolled his eyes at the ceiling, the guy was as bad as an eager puppy and he laughed.

After one last check in the mirror he walked out of the dorms and into the common room just in time to hear Eve's comment. "As a matter of fact I'm not, I was waiting for my dearest brother here to finish with the bloody mirror." He smirked good naturedly having enjoyed ratting his brother out to Eve.

She blushed too for having teased Lance and have him be just behind her, "Oh, is that so?" she asked and the smile was back on her face, "I couldn't imagine either one of you in front of the mirror for long, I'm terribly sorry to say that there is nothing either of you could do to your looks to make you less handsome than godlike so stop trying." she nudged them. Eve, their little ego booster, being around her automatically made them both several feet taller, ten times as muscular and as she said perfectly godlike.

Josh grinned sheepishly as Lance told Eve that he took forever at the mirror. He looked back to Lance, and when Eve wasn't really paying attention, Josh quickly hit Lance in the back of the head and gave him a 'what-was-that-for' expression. However, he grinned at his brother and looked to Eve.

His ears turned red at her comment. There was no denying it. Josh's ears and eyes always gave him away. He glanced her over quickly and observantly. "You look pretty nice yourself Eva, not that you don't always." He gave her a wink.

She was trying not to blush herself, in the past she might have rolled her eyes since she usually wore something baggy or big over her small frame and she looked so small she didn't think she could possibly look attractive, and yet with Josh and Lance both complimenting her, especially Josh as of late, she began to feel it and was putting a little more into her dress. Today she was still wearing a jacket but it was a very nice white peacoat she had coaxed her aunt in letting her have for an early Christmas present, she was wearing earrings too, they were roses that dangled slightly, no make up, she didn't know how, maybe Viv would teach her for the dance.

Other than that she was wearing muggle jeans and a pair of boots with three layers of socks, she knew it was cold outside.

[Genevieve Danforth]

Most people looking at Genevieve would have assumed that looking as good as she did was something that came naturally. But in reality, that was not the case. She was extremely pale, and without makeup, she looked a little washed out. And her rebellious hair often became frizzy and unmanageable during the night. So before she was to be seen by anyone, especially Lance, she had to wash her hair and dry it every morning, then put on just enough makeup to look like she wasn't actually wearing any makeup.

Since they were going shopping today, Genevieve dressed casually today, in jeans and a soft cashmere sweater and her favorite pair of boots. She paused to twirl around in front of the mirror for a bit, then headed downstairs to meet Eve and the boys.

"Hi!" she said excitedly, spotting them all gathered together. "I didn't keep you waiting too long, did I?"

Lance looked up as soon as Genevieve came down the steps and felt his insides grow weak. She was so beautiful, especially when she was smiling like that, so full of life. He imediately walked over to her gave her a hug. "You are just in time, I just got down here myself. You look nice, Viv. Are you ready to go shopping?" When was a girl not ready to go shopping? He was sure it was a stupid question but he didn't really care. He just wanted to see her smile more.

Eve sighed when Viv made her entrance, but there was still a smile on her face. Really Viv was beautiful, she sparkled. Still, Eve had, had her small moment of fame before Viv came down and it was good enough for her. She wasn't about to compare or compete with Genevieve, for one they were friends, for another there was just no hope in that department.

" I like your sweater Viv." she smiled.

"Morning Genevieve," Josh greeted her. He gave her a smile and then looked back to Eve. His arm went around her shoulders. "So ladies, are we ready to head off to Hogsmeade," he asked still grinning at Eve. Today was the day he had been looking forward to all weekend. Today he was going to get another chance to talk to his brother about Eve while the girls shopped for dresses and the boys shopped for dress robes.

"Ready!" Eve stated cheerfully. When Josh's arm came aorund her shoulder she was warmed, and yet she hadn't realized how cold the room had been before that that she was still shaking in her coat, she could only imagine how it would feel outside, but then again she was small and had a propensity towards freezing.

She turned and leaned to him then frowned as a four year old might, "Why are boys so warm? It's hardly fair, I don't think boys should be so warm while us females freeze."

Josh laughed. "Well, it is fair," he said. "We're nice and warm while the girls get cold, so that way we can warm you up. It's our job." And we can always be close he thought out. He gave her a huge grin and brought her close to him. Josh bent down slightly to whisper in her ear. "I'll always keep you warm." He straightened back up.

"Alright then, let's head on towards Hogsmeade," said Josh looking towards his brother.

Lance looked back at his brother then back to Genevieve and held her hand to bring her with him. "Ready!" he said for the both of them. He was sure she'd correct him if she wasn't ready, but then again, he already knew how much she loved going shopping and he was looking forward to seeing her happy helping Eve find a dress when they weren't around the boys. Josh and Lance had their plans as well, though one of those plans included not only dress robes but surprises for the girls. He grinned.

When he said things like that she wanted to lean up and kiss him...on the cheek of course, because that was the only real kiss she knew of and they had been so...close lately she couldn't help the blood that was pounding through her but she tried to make her heart quiet.

"Good, I promise to be very cold." she said returning to her quick easy manner although she wasn't quite easy anymore with how fluttery her stomach was behaving.

"Excellent," said Josh with a grin. "I'll do my best to keep you warm." He turned back to Lance. "Let's go." Josh started walking ahead with Eve to give Lance and Genevieve a little quiet time to theirselves. He still had his arm around Eve as they walked down to the main entrance to head off towards Hogsmeade.

"Thanks for coming with me," he stated.

Eve got to the front doors and could already feel the cold that was going to assail her as she stepped outside she bit her bottom lip to keep from cursing which was a very un-eve like thing to do, "Oh Merlin I'm beginning to see why I wear so many layers! It's freezing Josh." she burrowed deeper against his side. Eve wasn't someone who complained a lot so if she was complaining now it was serious now. She was cold.

Josh looked down at her and pulled her closer to him. He did have on two layers of clothing and he was pretty warm. The cold air hit his face as they walked out, but he didn't mind. "Just stay as close as you can," he whispered to her. He didn't want poor Eve to freeze. If he had to be this close to her all day, then let it be. Of course, he didn't have a problem with it. "Put your arm around my waist underneath my coat. You'll be warmer."

She did as she was told and after burrowing deeper and deeper during the trek to Hogsmeade she was practically hiding behind him underneath his coat using him as a shield for whatever wind came, but her arms were wrapped around his waist and her face was pressed against his back which was warm. She couldn't see anything but she trusted that Josh would be her eyes. She couldn't help but realize he smelled like sandlewood and Josh that was the only way to describe his scent and it made her smile.

Josh smiled as Eve basically buried herself in his coat. He put his hand on hers since they were wrapped around his waist. As they neared Hogsmeade, Josh's grin grew. It didn't seem that Eve was going to be letting go anytime soon. "I tell you what Lance," he said looking back. "Why don't we seperate for a few and then meet up with each other in about an hour? Will that be alright with the rest of you?"
