Lily was flattered to receive the invitation to the Slug Club. Since she was good in potions, she was sure it had something to do with that. So she got ready excitedly and headed down to the dungeons where the meeting was being held. When she got there, she saw a few people she knew, including Rori, and her new boyfriend, Leo. Sirius Black was also there, which seemed odd to her. He was terrible in potions. Obviously, her theory was wrong. She found herself unconsciously scanning the crowd to look for James. Good. He wasn't there.
She walked over to Rori. "Hey," she said casually.

Alice hugged her cousin Sirius as he approached. She was actually very grateful to see him here, for more reasons than one. She could use his support and someone she felt comfortable with to spend the evening if necessary. "I'm glad to see you here Sirius, I'm still trying to figure out what this is all about. You have any clue?" She nodded to Leo and Lilly as they arrived as well.

Kingsley watched carefully as Frank and Rystain went off to talk by themselves, he would never put it past a Slytherin to try something during an event like this. After a few moments Kingsley noticed Alice Prewett and a few other gryffindors arrive. Delaying a couple more moments to ensure Frank was ok, Kingsley approached Alice and the small group of gryffindors and ravenlaws that had surrounded her. Walking up from behind her he quickly leaned in close to her ear and whispered.
"I heard Slughorn brought us here so he can poison all the champions except the Slytherin one." Pulling back a ways he was forced to use all his willpower to keep from laughing.

Alice turned and realized the voice in her ear was Kingsley. "Oh hush you! You're such a trouble maker. hehe.. how are you doing tonight Kingsley?" She gave her friend a pat on the shoulder and shifted to make room for him in the little group.

Kingsley quickly scanned the group noticing the younger years at Hogwarts seemed to becoming quite cuter than they used to be. Hearing Alice talk to him snapped him out of the small trance he had been in and turned back towards Alice. "I'm good, but from the looks of this place us and the Ravenclaws are gonna have to fight our way out." Smiling at his friend he noticed a group of Slytherins over in a corner talking to each other.
Yes it looked like if Professor Slughorn didnt hurry they would have to fight their way out.

"Yeah did you notice there aren't any Hufflepuffs here.. well at least none yet. I wonder if that means anything." She looked over at Frank as Rystain walked away from him. What on earth would they have to talk about, Alice wondered. She realized she was clenching her teeth and stopped as she watched Frank approach the group.

Frank glanced over to where he was and noticed that Kingsley moved over to where the Ravenclaws and Alice were standing. His eyes stopped on Alice for a moment. She looked amazing as usual. He was starting to become nervous as he remembered that Alice got his note. The thoughts of 'has she figured out that it was me?' 'does she still dislike me?' entered his mind.
He swallowed hard and used what little courage he had and walked over. Frank mustered a small smile in greeting as his heart raced. "Hey Lily, Sirius, Regina, Rori, Leo, Alice," he said as smoothly as he could. Frank just gave Kingsley a glance that was said 'what-did-you-do-that-for'. "And Kingsley." He put his hands in his pockets as he stood across from Alice.

Rori broke into a smile as Leo approached. "Hey! Yeah, I got invited. Although, I haven't the slighest idea of what it's about. I thought about not coming at first but decided against it." She felt more comfortable knowing that there were more people that she knew was invited.
"Hello Lily." Maybe this Slug Club meeting wouldn't be so bad. At least she had people she could talk to here.

Severus's own assurance that not very many had been invited quickly shrank out of existence. Rori's new boyfriend had all of her attention, Evans was rapidly talking with friends. He felt very alone. 'The first moment I have, I'm leaving. Yes, I'll have a chat with Slughorn, then I'll just go.' Severus began to think of different tactics and escape routes he could use. The common room wasn't too far away, He could slip off any time he wanted too. Maybe he should stay and observe everyone. It wasn't often that he could just watch everyone behave foolishly.

Alice looked directly at Frank when he joined the group and stood across from her. Her eyes seemed to be searching his face, though there was still a small bit of hurt and only a smidgen of anger left in her own. Mostly she was now just trying to figure out what to say to him or if she should ignore him. She also wanted to just hug him and be held but that wasn't going to happen any time soon and she knew it. "Hello Frank" She responded, her voice filled with mixed emotions.

Frank glanced up as Alice responded to him. She didn't sound angry, so maybe his fears were a bit exaggerated. He searched her face and was glad that he put his hands in his pockets. He wanted nothing more than to reach out and hug her, touch her face, kiss her. However, Frank knew that he couldn't do that. He wasn't sure what her feelings were at the moment, but he did know that his eyes lit up once Alice had spoken to him because she wasn't being angry with him.
Not knowing what to say to her, Frank cleared his throat. "So, does anyone have the slightest idea what the Slug Club is?"

Alice turned to see if anyone else would answer him but no one seemed to know any better than anyone else enough to speak up so she responded instead, though she looked at Kingsley as she spoke so she wouldn't have to look at him while she responded. "No, but it seems like only the most talented or high standing family students seem to be here so far." She looked at him from the corner of her eye. He was in her eyes in the more talented category.

Great. Alice wouldn't even look at him. Maybe he shouldn't have sent the letter, but then again it was better that he had considering it had given him some hope that she wasn't mad at him. The light that had shown in his eyes disappeared as Alice looked at Kingsley when she spoke. He couldn't help but feel slightly hurt by it, but then again what was he supposed to expect? Her just run back into his arms and everything would be alright again? No. There was more to do, but Frank wasn't sure how to go about it, or when. Tonight probably wouldn't be a good night, but he knew that he was going to do it before the first task. He had to.
He gave a quite 'oh' sound and then let his gaze drop from her to the floor. This was not slightly awkward at all....

Sam decided it was fair enough for her to appear now and stepped out from the shaddows, "Well I guess that would make everyone in here the ones to know." she declared putting one foot in front of the other literally emerging from the shadows but it was easy to do considering they were in the dungeons.
Sam nodded to the people she knew, and in watching from her hide out she noticed the tension between Frank and Alice, Severus' discomfort, an interesting story from Rystain, Rabastan's annoyance, Charlotte's glee and as always Lyra's suppressed excitement. She addressed the last of these things first, "Lyra that is a stunning gown." she proclaimed with praise in her voice.
That wasn't to belittle her own attire modest in comparison by neckline as it slashed down beneath her left arm and went up and over her right shoulder covering her right arm to her wrist in sheer material and leaving the left arm bare. Deceptively the back of the dress or lack thereof made it's classy to the point of prudish design sinful, so again the question asked, was she the innocent or the vixen or did it depend on whether you were behind her or in front, and did it really matter when she looked like that?
Sam's hair was swept up into a carefully elegant coiffure that left whimsical strands of hair framing her face, her eyes were even more pronounced with the make up she wore everything was subtle except for the black shadow that gave her eyes a cat like appearance, and like a cat she was ready to pounce, on what she wasn't sure.

Charlotte bit down on her inner lip hard when Sam came out of the shadows, there was no telling how long she had been there, but she knew by the amused glint in Sam's eyes that she had witnessed Charlotte's behavior and was taking keen glee in proving her wrong...or perhaps that amused glint was for something else but Charlotte was thinking too much of it.
"Good evening Samantha." she said softly, she in contrast to the other two was dressed in green for her house colors the dress was strapless although seemed to break at the right shoulder more and then cascade downwards, it cut off at the calf and was just as elegant.

Sam seemed to appear out of nowhere once again, a French tactic Lyra assumed. Anything that Sam did better than she, Lyra would chalk up to the girl's foreign upbringing. "Thank you Sam. You're the first to comment on it. Rabastan must be slipping." She gave him a teasing smirk and then continued. "I like your outfit as well. And Charlotte, I do so love a girl in green."

Rabastan smiled and gave Lyra a slight bow. "My mistake, as you do look enchanting tonight," he told her, and then gave Sam a similar compliment.
He noticed how public Sam seemed, and he wondered if she ever got tired of it. It was irritating to him.

"Thank you Rabastan," she said, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
"Well then. We were just discussing this little gathering. Have you had time to make an opinion on it Sam?" More non-Slytherin students were arriving now, Lyra noted. "I'm not so sure I'm particularly comfortable with it all."

"Evening Char." Sam replied a graceful dip to the entire circle of Slytherins which seemed to encompass most of the room.
"A man like Rabastan doesn't lose touch. In fact Slytherin men seem to be timeless." she smiled glancing between Rystain and Rabastan and letting her heart do a little sigh for all the hearts that were laid out before these two particular gentlemen, " His eyes complimented you after making yourself known to him, and yes Charlie, really that gown is stunning with your complexion." she nodded then let out a soft sigh.
She in turn thanked Rabastan for his compliment as well and turned her head towards Lyra when she asked her question.
"I'd assume it's to make contacts with what would appear to be either the most influential names in the school or perhaps those who are going somewhere influential for the future" her eyes scanned the room, it was like a political retirement plan to make sure you had friends in the right places.

"And what does Slughorn get out of this? Is he planning on lining us up like cattle and picking out the ones he hopes could get him out of this school?" She said the words bitterly. If that were the case, she was sure she would not be one of the ones to plucked for their influence. She had no aspirations of heading anywhere great in the future. And while she hesitated to talk about it in her circle of friends, it was common knowledge that she was not a pureblood. Just a descendant of a long line of wizards that started with a muggleborn. There were others with much more influential names than hers.
