Seth paced in the courtyard, slightly out of view of any other students. Just a few days ago, when the tournament champions were announced, Sam had helped Seth realize his feelings for Maxi.
Maxi Borale, his best friend since his first year at Hogwarts, and now suddenly a girl he was madly in love with. And he was planning on asking her out whenever she got around to comming down to meet him.
Seth grabbed his forehead and sighed. This was all too surreal.....

"Having trouble there love?" Sam asked.
She had been in the shadows of the courtyard, not really hiding, but not really being obvious about her wherabouts, really she was just trying to get out of Rafe's view, she needed to come up with a plan about him, and soon. It was during that thinking that she saw Seth appear, he seemed to be having some trouble and since she liked Seth she decided to make herself known.

Seth jumpped. He didn't see Sam there. "Uh, Hi Sam!" Seth said, scratching the back of his head nervously. "I...I was, eh...I mean... I'm...er," He was stuttering, a horrible nervous habbit he thought he had beaten out of him. He took a deep breath. "I decided to take your advice..." He said, still a little shaky. "About Maxi..."

Her brows rose, "I see that you're a little nervous hmm?" she asked calmly she got up from her place and moved to where he was at, " Breathe Seth." she said seeing just how shaken up he was, "Just breathe k?"

Seth took another deep breath and pinched the bridge of his nose with his thumb and forfinger. He was over reacting. He was just really nervous. "What if I f*ck this up, Sam?" Seth said quietly. "Sorry bout the swear..."

"You're not going to." she said sincerely waving away the swear word, "You're going to be perfect Seth, and you know something. Maxi's crazy about you, or at least she should be. You're a great guy, and if I had known you as long as she had well I'd have been crazy not to claim you for myself long ago, you just have to believe in yourself Seth."

Seth put his head in his hand and sat on the nearby bench. "You think so Sam?" Seth asked, refering to the question about Maxi liking him back. The thought bewildered him more than anything. "I don't..." he paused. "I don't even know what I'm going to say when Maxi gets here..."

"Alright Seth here." she said coming around and sitting next to him, "Stand up, pretend I'm Maxi." she said quite seriously, "Tell me what you would tell her." he was just nervous that was all she was sure, and she wanted him to do well, she wanted him to be happy.

Maxi had gotten a letter from Seth earlier that morning telling her to meet him in the courtyard after classes. She had known that he wanted to talk to her about something, he had ever since the ceremony where they announced the house champions. She figured that's what this was about, but she wondered why he asked to have this convorsation in such a secluded part of the castle.
As she reached the place Seth told her to meet him, Maxi found Seth and Sam talking. Maxi raised an eyebrow, but decided that she wanted to hear what Seth was talking to Sam about a bit, so she stood to the side, out of eyesight, and eavesdropped on the two.

"I'm here like your letter said, What do you want to tell me Seth?" she asked and nodded towards him to pretend that she was Maxi. She was trying to do it up as well giving him courage by the soft look in her eyes.
Tell me you love me, she willed him silently.

Seth stood up and looked at Sam, trying to will his mind to pretend Sam was Maxi. He looked in her eyes, but could only see the deep blue of Maxi's. "Well, I..." Seth paused. "I asked you to come here because...because..." Out with it Inophen! Seth knew Maxi would tease him. He took a deep breath. "Because I wanted to say that I love you." There. Out.
Now if only he could get through with that when Maxi showed up.

Maxi leaned against the wall, shell shocked at what she just heard. No way, there was no chance in hell that this was happening. Seth in love with Sam? Well, Maxi did have her suspussions...Almost every boy at Hagwarts had some sort of cursh on Samantha Montgomery.
But Maxi thought Seth was different. She thought that Seth and Sam could just be friends. She thought...
She thought that he was in love with her.
Maxi had to get out of there, she bolted across the courtyard, not caring who saw her as she ran. she didn't even know where she was going, she just had to get away from there.

Sam stood, "That was wonderful..." well it was blurted out but he had done it now if only he could do it when Maxi showed, and perhaps land a bit smoother, Sam would help him out with that, or would have if someone hadn't just ran across the courtyard. Her eyes narrowed but she couldn't tell who it was, "Were they eavesdropping? How rude." she had no idea what that eavesdropping meant, she had no idea that it was Maxi.

"Eavesdropping?" Seth said, raising an eyebrow and looked at the girl running away. "He couldn't tell who it was, she was running too fast, but he saw the Hufflepuff color on her robes and Seth silently hoped that she didn't tell Maxi what Seth had just said.
"So..." He turned to Sam. "I'm blunt, i know, I'm just not good with the words and such," Seth said.

Gage was reading a book in the Courtyard when he saw something moving rather quickly out of the corner of his eye. He looked up and saw that Maxi was running, in tears, toward the castle. He dropped his book and raced after her. "Maxi!" he called. "Maxi, stop, what's wrong?"

"Don't worry Seth we'll work on it," she said taking his hand, then she directed him to sit and stood gaining a "take on the world look" she turned and faced him, "Okay first I want you to-" she paused when Gage came out and yelled for Maxi and then she connected the dots quickly and cursed, "Maxi..."

She sniffled back the tears she had been shedding and turned to face Gage. "Oh Gage," she sobbed, sitting down on the ground where she stood. "I...I can't believe..." She began to cry again. Well perhaps she was mistaken surely Seth would have known if it was Maxi had just run by with Gage after her. She swallowed, it was just her imagination ...hopefully, "Nothing...nevermind Seth...let's go over what you're going to say."

"Thought what Maxi?" Gage asked, kneeling down next to Maxi. Maxi was a strong person, and there wasn't a lot of things that would make her cry. Gage thought for a moment before sighing in a moment of understanding. "What did Seth do now?" He asked. It was blatently obvious sometimes, the whole Maxi and Seth situation. Gage knew that they both were crazy about each other. Heck, half the school knew. But they were both too stubborn to admitt anything and always ended up fighting.
Hence Maxi sitting on the ground in the courtyard crying.
