Gage thought for a moment before sighing in a moment of understanding. "What did Seth do now?" He asked. Maxi looked at Gage, her eyes red and puffy from crying. Gage was so young, so innocent. Maxi just wanted to squeeze him tight and tell him to never lose that innocence, never lose that smile, and never fall in love. Cuz it just kills you in the end. But instead, she ended up just telling Gage what she overheard between Seth and Sam. "He told her he loved her Gage..." Maxi cried. "I thought...." Gage looked at Maxi, dumbfounded. Seth told Sam what now? That can't be right. Gage knew better, he knew SETH. Seth was in love with Maxi, not Sam.
Gage then went from confused to angry. How DARE Seth make Maxi cry! What was he thinking? Stringing her along like that just to crush her....
"Stay here Max," Gage said calmly. "It'll be alright." He said, leaving her to calm down as Gage went to find Seth.

"Okay, so let's try this again, remember how she makes you feel." Sam emphasized before sitting back down and pulling Seth up to tell her that he loved her again hopefully less with the blurting and more with the romance.

"Okay," Seth said. "How she makes me feel...." He thought for a moment. "Okay." Seth took a deep breath and right before he was about to try again, he saw Gage comming toward him, looking outraged. "Hold on Sam," Seth said.
"Gage, what's wrong?" Seth asked, hoping to help his friend.

Gage was sure steam was streaming from his ears. "What's wrong?" He asked loudly. Luckily, there weren't many people around. "WHAT'S WRONG?!" He yelled. "What the f*ck is wrong with you Inophen!" Gage was furious now. "How dare you hurt her like that? She's your friend you a$s! How DARE you!" Gage didn't give Seth time to respond.
He just hit him.

Seth took the blow from Gage and landed on the ground, looking up at Gage in shock. Not only did Seth have no idea WHY Gage was yelling at him, but Gage was YELLING at him. Gage Oliver, sweet little 12 year old Gage who never got mad over ANYTHING.

Gage was panting. His fist hurt.
Did he just punch Seth? Cool!
Wait, no, not cool! He just punched his best friend! Well he deserved it.
"Why did you have to hurt Maxi like that Seth?" Gage asked, his voice and temper both simmering down. "She's over there crying because you strung her along, letting her think you liked her and here you are with Sam..."
Gage turned to Sam. "No offence."

Sam raised her eyebrows and then when Gage hit Seth her eyes widened "Seth!" she called going to his side, after hearing the jumbled explaination her jaw half way dropped and her eyes were threatening to roll "We're not together." she said slowly, "Seth.."

"I'm okay Sam," Seth muttered as Sam came to her side. Gage had one hell of a hit.
"I'm not dating Sam," Seth said. His whole head hurt a bit from when Gage punched him. He probably had a concussion or something. "Sam was just helping me because i didn't know what to..." He paused, finally registering what Gage had said.
Hurt Maxi? Maxi Crying??
Oh Sh!t!
"Why am I explaining this to you?" He SHOULD be explaining it to Maxi. He got up and stumbled a bit. Yup definatly a concussion. But Seth was not going to let that stop him. "Where is she?" He didn't wait for an answer though, he just ran off in the direction Gage had come from.

Sam swallowed back a few words and nodded when Seth took off, Merlin she didn't imagine what Maxi must have heard and sighed, it would be hard for Seth to convince her otherwise but hopefully the girl was smart enough not to push him away like that, Seth was a rare find.
"That's quite an arm you have on you." she turned and complimented the younger boy.

Gage laughed a bit, his shy self comming back to him. It was just now he noticed the pain in his right hand and he winced a bit.
"Uh, thanks," Gage said, blushing. "Sorry about all of that, by the way," Gage said. "I don't normally," he gestured around vaguely with his good hand. "do that..."

Maxi saw Seth. He was running toward her, stumbling a bit. Her sadness turned to anger at the sight of him and she jumped up off the ground, wiping away her tears. "Stay away from me Seth Inophen!" She yelled, turning on her heals and walking away. She heard his foot steps catching up with her, so she broke out into a full on sprint across the courtyard.

Of COURSE she had to run. But concussion or not, Seth was faster on foot than Maxi. If they were on brooms, it would be different. "Maxi Stop!" He ran ahead of her and turned around, making him a bit dizzy. "Please," he said, reaching out and grabbing her wrists. "Please let me explain..."

Sam smiled and then with a sigh, "Here let me see." she knew a few rudimentary spells to heal the ache in his hand and it was a noble cause after all...even if it was misguided. " You must be really good friends to deck him the way you did." she said faintly amused while healing his hand.

Gage let Sam fix his hand. "Seth is my best friend," Gage said. "But so is Maxi..." He looked over to where Seth had run off, both of theme were out of sight. "She'll probably hit him harded than I did..." Gage looked up to Sam. "Not that Maxi's violent..." Gage said quickly. "She just really doesn't like you..." Gage looked at Sam apologetically.

"Yeah I get that a lot." she said thinking about Alice, "Can't imagine why." she deadpanned, "unless she's in love with Seth and then just over heard Seth saying he loved me." she rolled her eyes at the dry bitter tone in her own voice, but it was another reason she didn't like Love, it was simply ridiculous to her. True love was supposed to be about trust and wanting the well being for eachother. It was supposed to be caring and it wasn't supposed to be what Sam saw it as. Petty jealousies, destruction, obsession, decadance it was supposed to be beautiful...really it just looked like madness.

She curved her lips into a smile and took his arm, "For that remark Mr. Oliver you earn several points in clear thinking, but what else to expect from a Ravenclaw?" she asked with a smile, "And just so you know...he wasn't telling me that he loved me, we were pretending I was Maxi...to get his nerves out when he confessed how he felt...if that eases any of your tension about escorting me back to the castle."
