Gage laughed. "Did I ever say I hated you? No, it's purely Maxi," Gage took Sam's arm. "And I figured as much after I calmed down and thought things through," He sighed, if only he thought logically BEFORE breaking his hand on Seth's face. "And I'd be happy to escort you back to the castle Samantha," Gage laughed again as they began walking. He only looked back once, wondering if Maxi would let Seth explain.

"Well I'm glad you don't hate me then, I'd be terrified of that right hook." she teased with an easy smile. She didn't like that Maxi didn't like her, oh she might shrug as if she didn't care either way but the truth was she was tired of her reputation being dragged through the mud by vindictively jealous girls who didn't know what they were talking about, and that was putting it mildly.

"I don't need an explaination Seth!" Maxi yelled as she ripped her hands away from his. "I only have one question," she pointed her finger at him. But she delfated, feeling defeated and depressed. "Why Sam?" "Why Sam what, Maxi?" Seth said. "Why was I talking to Sam right now?" His head hurt, he was seeing two of Maxi and it was getting worse. "I was waiting for you to show up when Sam came along. Remember, I wrote you a note, we needed to talk..." He grabbed his temple. Whoever taught Gage to throw a punch was a fu*king genius. |

Maxi didn't understand anymore. Why was Sam there if Seth want to talk to Maxi? WHY did Seth want to talk to Maxi in the first place? And WHY did he tell Sam that he loved her if she wasn't even supposed to be there?
She saw Seth grab his forhead. Maxi hoped that he was okay, but she was still angry with him. "What's wrong with you?" She said, her anger evident in her voice.

"Nothing," Seth said stubbornly. "Will you just listen to me?" He said. "I wanted to talk to you because you have been my best freeking friend for the past 4 years Maxi Borale! And it's about dam time that I tell you something..." He took a deep breath, got dizzy, and fell on the ground. Seth was still consious though, so he continued. "Sam was helping me because...Because what I wanted to tell you scarred the carp outta me and I didn't know how to say it, or how to word anything, and I couldn't mess it up because your my fu*king best friend and i'd probably die if I lost you and that scarred me even more...and then Gage came over and told me you were crying and the it hit me!" Seth laughed. "And then Gage hit me but that's beside the point..."

"Seth," Maxi gasped as he fell to the ground. She pushed her anger to the side for now, more intent on making sure he was alright. But before she could begin fussing, Seth had told her to just listen. And she did, but Seth was merely babbling. "Seth," she said calmly, interupting him. "What do you want to tell me?" She knelt down beside him and then registrered the rest of what he said. "Wait, GAGE hit you?" she asked, astonished.

Somewhere is all of his babbling he caught Maxi's eye and shut up. Suddenly, he knew exactly what he wanted to say to her. He grabbed her hand and looked in her eyes. "Maxi, you and I have been best friends for years," He said. "You know everything about me and I like to think I know you too," his eyes were going back to focus, he saw her clearly now. "But for the last few months something changed..." Seth squeezed her hand. "I realized that I'm in love with you Maxi Borale, and I think I always have been." He paused and held his breath, waiting for her reply.

Maxi stared at Seth, letting his words hit her full blast. He loved her? Her? Maxi Borale?
You gotta be kidding.
"You love me?" She asked, looking back at Seth. "But...But why?" Her brain was yelling at her Tell him you love him back you idiot! it was screaming, but she couldn't get the words out of her mouth.

"Why?" he asked, his jaw nearly dropping. He asked as if it was obvious and a monkey could have figured it out. "Because you're Maxi!" Seth said. "You're amazing! You're sweet and brilliant and smart and wonderful and downright gorgeous and..." Seth looked at her smiling. "I mean Max, what's not to love about you?" His blinking became heavy. For a while he had forgotton about the splitting headache he got from being punched in the face by Gage, but he still stayed with Maxi. How bad could a concussion be really when he was announcing his true feelings for his best friend.

Maxi's stomach was flipping around inside of her as Seth said all these things about her. It was then she noticed his heavy blinking and glazed look in his eyes. She smiled sympathetically and helped Seth up. "I can't believe Gage hit you," Maxi said and she supported him when they walked. They took a few steps and stopped, Maxi turned toward Seth and kissed him lightly on the cheek.
"Just in case you didn't know," she said. "I love you too."
