When Moody told her she should go to Ted, Andi felt her stomach lurch painfully. Her eyes filled with tears as she looked at the older auror. As much as she wanted to go to Ted, to try and talk to him and find out why he had done this to her, she knew that she could not. If she saw him again, it would hurt more than ever. Just hearing his name was like being stabbed in the heart. He'd broken up with her. It was over. And he wouldn't have been so cruel if he hadn't intended for it to be final.
She had to face the fact... it was over. He wasn't coming back. He didn't want her.
The thought made her want to throw up, right then and there. What she had thought was real and true was just an illusion. A beautiful lie. And she was a fool for being so trusting, for giving him her heart so completely.
Shaking her head at Moody, she replied softly, "No... I can't see him. He doesn't want me. He made that perfectly clear."
She was spared from having to say more by yet another knock on the door. "Maybe I should just remove the door altogether," she mumbled in a sour tone as she got up to answer it.
At the sight of Narcissa on the other side, she opened it wider and flung her arms around her. "Cissa! Thanks for coming... but you shouldn't be here. Daddy disowned me--for real this time. If he finds out you came here..."

Narcissa smiled and put her arms around Andi as well. However, her smile turned into a frown. "I figured that daddy would come. I knew that Bella was heading over, she had sent me an owl. I thought I would give them time to come here and then leave before I came. But he disowned you?" Cissa sighed. She couldn't believe that he disowned Andi.
"Don't worry about me being here. Daddy's not going to find out. Andi, I am so sorry about what he said but you know that I don't disown you. I could never. You know that, right?"

Molly came back into the living room, a tray in her hands with three mugs of coffee, sugar, and cream.
She had been listening to what Alastor said to her, and she didn't really agree that Andi should go to Ted. Not unless she was going to yell at him and make it perfectly clear how much trouble he was really in. Anything else would just be too soon.
She paused when she saw Narcissa, but her words to Andi put her at ease and she came all the way into the room, setting the tray down. "Shall I make you some coffee, Narcisa?"

"Hello Molly," said Narcissa glancing over Andi's shoulder. Cissa never really talked to Molly much, but that was because Bella was always around, but she was relieved that she hadn't started yelling at her to get out. Maybe things with her cousin wouldn't be so bad.
"If you don't mind, that would be great, thank you."

Molly nodded. As long as Narcissa didn't start with the slurs and the threats, Molly could be nice. "Go ahead and take one of those," she said, motioning the tray she had set down. "Mr. Moody, Andi, you as well. I'll be right back."
She turned and went back into the kitchen, remembering that night at the restauraunt... no, Narcissa had said nothing to her. And Andi seemed glad to see her. She was all right with that.
She poured another mug of coffee for herself, and joined them back in the living room.

Andi sighed and attempted to smile at Narcissa. "OK, but don't want you to stay long. Daddy's in such a mood, and if he does find out you were here, I really don't think anything would stop him from disowning you, too. I won't let that happen to you."
She walked back to the sofa and sat down again. "Narcissa, this is Mr. Moody. Mr. Moody, this is my sister, Narcissa. I'm trying to figure out what to do about Rita Skeeter."
Her mind was drawing a blank, and she couldn't understand why she couldn't summon up a good amount of anger. She had every reason to be angry, so why did she just want to hide?

Alastor wanted to wrap his hands around Andromeda's throat at her response. This woman was an Auror and she really believed everything she had seen at Hogwarts without questioning it a bit. As Narcissa Black entered the apartment Moody was really about to go off. If there was ever a family that Moody would never trust it was the Blacks.
Nodding quickly towards Narcissa not wanting to be rude in Andromeda's apartment he locked his gaze onto Andromeda's and stood up to his full height. "Andromeda Black, if I wasnt in a good mood, I would wrap my hands around your neck and beat you senseless." Turning around oody began to pace around the room as he explained his suddened outburst. "Andromeda, I guess I overestimated your ability as an Auror, Angelique spoke so highly of you that I assumed you had a lick of common sense.
"Have you stopped to even think for one moment that the wizard you saw might not of even been Ted! Merlin's beard Andromeda, did you think to shove Veritaserum down his throat and ask him if it was Ted or someone else using a polyjuice potion? Or maybe you tortured him with the Cruciatus curse to ensure that he wasnt under the Imperius Curse?"

Andi was caught off guard when Moody started to yell at her and didn't react right away. But as he suggested that some sort of foul plan might be afoot, and that maybe Ted wasn't himself at the time, she felt a traitorous spark of hope flare up in her.
"Well... I had thought of it," she confessed. "Not the Polyjuice potion, but I did think of the Imperius Curse. And Merlin knows I wanted to use the Cruciatus curse on him last night when it first happened... I couldn't remember the look in his eyes, but I remember his voice sounded funny. I just know I can't see him right now... it hurts too much."

Alastor had to use all of his willpower to control the rage that was beginning to take over. "That's quite alright Andromeda, go ahead and sit your apartment feeling sorry for yourself. When you are no longer feeling sorry for yourself come see me." His eyes seemed to be filled with an unearthly passion as he continued on. "Because even though you wish to feel sorry for yourself because your boyfriend is a git, there are still dark wizards out there who are killing people. Or have you forgotten that one of the best aurors this ministry has ever known is now dead!"
He stood and turned his back to Andromeda trying to get himself under control. Olivia St. Clare was a great auror and someone Alastor had and would have at the drop of a hat entrusted his life too. "You dishonor the memory of Olivia St. Clare and what the auror's stand for. You are supposed to be my backup during the upcoming tournament and yet instead of preparing you sit here feeling sorry for yourself over an article in the paper!"
He turned his head to peer at Andromeda one more time before he ended this discussion. "You say your different from your family that their ways are not yours, I call you a liar! I read once about an important muggle who once said...All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Think upon that and maybe you can do us all a favor and resign."
With that said Alastor walked out of the apartment and off to the Ministry to see Angelique.

"Mr. Moody," Molly said, her eyes flairing. "That's enough."
As he stormed out of the apartment, Molly followed.
She was angry at him for talking to Andromeda like that. He had no right, and her anger made her bold. "This all happened yesterday. And she was just disowned today. She is allowed to have a day or two to be sad and even wallow and while I understand what you are doing, it's too soon. For Merlin's sake, let her have a day. She is not a disgrace to the aurors. If anyone deserves that speech, it's Ted Tonks."

Alastor stopped dead in his tracks as Molly came out after him, turning around to face the Prewett sister he approached her and locked his deadly gaze onto hers. "Molly do me a favor and pretend your not Andromeda's friend for a moment, use logic and not emotion to think about what I am going to say."
Taking a deep breath and forcing his voice to stay low so as not to be overheard. "Andromeda is in her apartment wallowing in self pity, Merlin only knows what Ted Tonks is up to at the moment but don't ya see whatever Andromeda saw was not real. Vincent and Angelique are probably scurrying around the Ministry right now trying to make the public happy, while you are here babying Andromeda, Ted is probably likewise hurting. In one swift blow, the Death Eaters have essentially crippled two auror's and didnt even break a sweat doing it. Now think on that while I go try to save the world."
As the last word left his mouth he spun on his heel and continued on towards the Ministry.

There were times when she couldn't stand Alastor and his all to frank personality, but she couldn't help but respect him, and he did what he did very well.
She took a breath and let it out slowly while he turned and left, and went back into Andromeda's apartment, closing the door behind her.
"Okay," she said. "Andi... you know how much I'm going to hate saying this, but let's figure out how to win Ted back. If... if in fact, that wasn't him or he wasn't in his right mind."

Andi looked at Molly strangely. She was surprised to hear her friend saying this, knowing how Molly felt about him. But strangely enough, it triggered something inside of her that had been missing.
Shaking her head firmly, she said, "No. It was him. There was no polyjuice potion, no Imperius Curse. At the most, maybe a Confundus curse, but... I don't think so. I'll admit that the whole thing still feels wrong to me, but... I am not going to see Ted. If Moody believes that he was compromised, then he can investigate it, because I do not want to see Ted right now. He hurt me too badly, and if I see him... I won't be able to keep from breaking down again. And I'll beg him to take me back or to talk to me or something, and I'll probably cry. And you know what, Molly? I'm not going to do that anymore. I have my pride, and if he wants me back, then he's going to have to come to me."

Narcissa reached out for Andi's hand. She wanted to tell her that she talked to Ted, but she couldn't. She wanted to tell her that Ted is just as miserable and he does still love her, but Cissa couldn't. Although, she could reassure Andi.
"Something needs to happen to that Rita girl. I can't stand her. She thinks she's so high up on herself. I would like nothing better than to hex her." Rita Skeeter got under her skin so badly. Maybe she could send an owl to Ted and tell him to visit Andi at her apartment, but then again Cissa wasn't so sure that would be a bright idea. "You know, I could always talk Sirius into doing me a favor. She wouldn't get hurt, too bad."

Molly grinned. Those were the best words she could have heard from Andi. "That's my friend," she said. There was that strength and determination she knew Andi for. "I was wondering what had happened to you."
She nodded towards Narcissa. "Yes. Rita needs to go down." And so does Ted. But that could wait. "Now the question is, how do we do it? You have the easiest access to her, Narcissa."

Andi squeezed Narcissa's hand and tried again to smile unsuccessfully. It was like her face was stuck in a permanent frown. "Just bear with me a little, OK, Mols? It's gonna take me a while to get over this one. In fact, I'm not sure I ever will."
She took a sip of her coffee, then looked at both of them in turn. "But Mr. Moody is right about one thing... I can't just sit around here, crying and feeling sorry for myself. I'm a Black, damn it, no matter what my father says. And I think it's time Rita Skeeter finds out what happens when you cross a Black." She paused again to take another sip from her coffee. "Just do me a favor, OK? Don't... mention his name for a while. Every time I hear it, I feel like I'm being stabbed in the heart."

"We've got all the time in the world, Andi," Molly said, nodding encouragingly. "And, to help, he shall henceforth be known, by me at least, as The Bastard. I don't really care how angry that makes you, Andi."
Those words were truthful. Andi had to respect that Molly could not forgive Ted as easily and Andi wanted to, and if her cousin wouldn't allow her to kill him, the least she could do was allow her to call him a bastard. No, the bastard.

At this, Andi's lips twitched into an almost smile. "Fair enough, Molly," she replied. "Now, then... about Rita. I'm thinking a series of escalating events, each one worse than the last. I definitely want to get Sirius and his little friends to help out... no one's better at pulling pranks than he is. And then, when she's wondering what's going to happen next, that's when she'll meet me. And you know what they say about a woman scorned."
By that time, she thought, she would have worked up a decent amount of anger. And Rita would regret she'd ever laid eyes on her.

A smile appeared on Narcissa's face. "I can talk to Sirius tomorrow. I'm sure that he will be more than willing to help out as well as his friends. Sure, Sirius may not care about me too much, but I'm sure that if it's for you, and if it's against Rita, I'm sure there shouldn't really be a problem."
Narcissa felt anger building inside of her as well. No one messed with any of the Blacks and got away with it. Plus, Rita wouldn't ever suspect Narcissa doing anything. Maybe things would work out perfectly.

Andi nodded. "Thanks, Cissa," she said. "I'm really glad you came today. Even if I am disowned, at least I've still got you. Just make sure no one sees you leaving, OK? I really don't want you to be disowned, too, especially if it will put your engagement to Lucius in jeopardy." She gave her sister a hug.
"Merlin, I'm so tired," she said. "I feel like I've been through a war. And it's not even noon."
