Rab watched with mild interest at what unfolded, and raised his eyebrows as the two girls returned. He wanted to comment badly, but it wasn't his family, wasn't his place. Lucius or Rodolphus could, since they were marrying into it. He swore, the Blacks had more blood traitors than any other family.
He lifted his glass of champagne to the girls, and took a drink, waiting for someone to break the ice.

Lucius watched the unfolding scene with great interest. Although he was too far away to hear what was spoken, he could see that it had not gone well. After all, Andromeda, the traitor, had chosen to leave with the mudblood. Such scandalous behavior within the family would certainly leave a black mark on the otherwise sterling reputation of the Blacks. In fact, when his father learned of it, there was a good chance he'd try to talk him out of marrying Narcissa, out of fear of her guilt by association. But of course, he would not be persuaded. Although he seemed cold, the fact was, Lucius adored Narcissa. There would be no talking him out of this marriage.
Silently, he stood, waiting for Cissa to return so he could comfort her. Even if Andromeda was a blood traitor, she was still Narcissa's sister. It couldn't be easy to break with family.

Narcissa pulled gently on Bella's elbow to return to the table. No matter how bad she wanted Andromeda to see things they way they did, she wouldn't. She felt as if part of her heart was broken once Andi chose him over her sisters. Now, their father would probably hear about this and forbid them to see Andi again. Their family was dysfunctional and just about everyone knew it. Two of the Blacks were blood traitors. What was going to become of their family name?
Once she returned to the table she glanced to Lucius while he stood. She gave the faintest of smiles. Tonight, she wasn't going to show sadness. She couldn't.

Bellatrix watched with fury as Andromeda left the restaurant with that man. "Traitorous b*tch," she called after Andromeda before Narcissa claimed her attention. "My sweet little Cissa. There's always something we can do." Bellatrix gave a wicked expression before returning with her good sister to their table. It was clear the guys had all been watching with interest, but how much was heard or just inferred was unclear. Narcissa looked solemn but Bellatrix seemed unfazed by the events, aside from her rapid pulse from the adrenaline rush of arguing.
She took her seat beside Rodolphus and nodded with a smile to Rabastan, who looked the least disturbed of the men there, and perhaps that was because he was completely uninvolved in the Black family's goings-ons. "Well, that certainly was interesting." She laughed lightly as if it was a humorous event that had just occurred. "Come now Narcissa, don't look so sullen. We're all here to have a nice time." She could tell, even though her younger sister had a smile on her face, it was a weak one. And Bellatrix refused to allow Narcissa to feel guilt over Andromeda. She would not turn soft. Bellatrix poured herself some wine and took a sip, setting the glass onto the table with a grin. She was plotting something for Andromeda.

Narcissa glanced to her sister. Bella knew her too well. She wasn't going soft, but the fact that she just lost a family member hurt. Of course, she wasn't going to express any emotions at the moment that showed that. Narcissa swallowed the lump feeling in her throat down and knew that she had to be strong. She wasn't going to be the weak link.
She allowed her faint smile turn into a brighter one before she turned from her sister. From the look on Bella's face, she knew that her sister was up to something but she wasn't going to ask at the moment. Looking to the others, her eyes glanced around the others before settling on Lucius once again. She hoped that he wouldn't bring up what had just happened, but she set a smile on her face nevertheless.

Lucius smiled as Bella quickly attempted to change the mood back to the jovial atmosphere they had been enjoying before the family pariah had made her entrance. He kissed Narcissa on the cheek, allowing his hand to linger supportively on her shoulder. "Come, my dear, our meal is getting cold," he said, but his tone was light.

As Lucius kissed her cheek, she put the recent event to the back of her mind. Tonight was about fun, and she wasn't going to let some dispute outside of the group put a halt to it. Becoming comfortable once again in her place beside Lucius, she picked up her utensils gracefully after she took a small sip from her wine glass.
Once she took the bite of the meat off her fork and swallowed it, she had to admit that it was probably the best food she had eaten in awhile considering what they serve at the school. "Wow," she said softly as the table was quite. "This meat is probably the tenderest I've ever eaten. Quite delicious if I may add."

Lucius smiled. He knew nothing could keep his darling Cissa down for very long. If the third Black sister wanted to run off with a mudblood, then so be it. There was no reason to let her indiscretions ruin the rest of the family.
"Yes, it is quite good," Lucius said. "I'd heard the food was exquisite here, so of course it was the only place for us to come. I'm also quite fond of the decor... quite palatial."

Rabastan seemed to be the only one whose mind was still on Andromeda and the boy she had just run off with.
He had an idea, but the moment seemed to have passed and he didn't want to bring it up now. But he would talk to Bella later. It seemed like such a shame to lose Andi to... well, to that filfth. He had hope that they could still save her.

Narcissa took her time as she took bites of her food. "I agree," she responded. "I think the curtains are quite lovely, as well as the chandeliers." She looked around the table as everyone was starting on their meals.
She smiled again to Lucius and then looked to her sister. "Bella, this weekend we should get together if you don't have any other plans, to go over a few things. Plus, I think that we need to have more time together than what we do so that we can figure out somethings. Don't you think?"

Rabastan seemed to be looking internally instead of focusing on the dinner conversation. Bellatrix wondered where his mind was at that moment but Narcissa was speaking to her now and her attention was turned. Cissa wanted to get together to plan things? Wedding things? Oh Merlin! "Sure," Bellatrix said nodding. "I don't see why that would be a problem." She tucked into her food, glancing at Rabastan once in a while to see if he had returned to the present yet.

Rabastan glanced up once, meeting Bella's eyes.
The look there, aside from her curiousness about him, proved to him that she had not so easily forgotten the encounter with Andromeda just now. He gave her a short, subtle nod before straightening a little and turning to his own meal.

Lucius caught the meaningful glances between Rabastan and Bellatrix and knew they were plotting something. But he didn't want Narcissa to worry about this, or dwell on the subject of her wayward sister a moment longer. Unfortunately, the festive atmosphere of the dinner had been shattered by the encounter. Since he was the host, it was his duty to brighten the mood somehow.
And he'd left out one little important piece of information about the attack. He'd been holding it back as the coup de grace, to announce at dessert. But maybe now was as good a time as any. Checking to make sure that no other waiters were about, he took out his wand and cast a temporary spell that would place an Impenetrable bubble around the table while he made this announcement.
Tapping the edge of his wine glass, he looked around the table. "I have one more thing to discuss with you," he said importantly.

Bellatrix looked up from her meal as Lucius drew his wand, and her eyes immediately went back to the curtain, through which they had previously seen Andromeda. But he was only casting a charm around the table so her suspicions about Ted coming back to defend himself were unfounded. The mudblood bastard was probably too much of a chicken to take on a group of purebloods.
Lucius clinked on his glass and announced that he had more news. He spoke with a consequential tone, which made Bellatrix once again anxious to hear the news. Why was it that he had all this information when she herself didn't?

Lucius was glad to have their attention once again. Hopefully, they could put this little incident behind them and go back to having a good time and talking about their cause. Smiling, he looked at Bellatrix. "There is more information about the attack plan that the Dark Lord has been so gracious as to share with me," he began.
"The article by the ridiculous reporter Bambi Ackart has given the Dark Lord some ideas. Some people think they know who the Dark Lord Voldemort is, so he has decided to play a little game with them.... a game of bait and switch..."

She too had read the article in The Daily Prophet, and the woman's rantings had filled her with rage. The only solace she found was that the writer was assaulting the Ministry of Magic, and the new Minister. Though it had not been lost that she also tried to downplay the hard work Bellatrix and her master had been doing. The woman, Bambi, was clearly a moron. She was glad that the Dark Lord would not stand for such nonsense.
But Lucius' words were not fully explained. No doubt he was pausing for theatrical effect, the drama queen. She leaned in close to the table. "Bait and switch?"

Lucius smiled. He had Bella's attention for sure, and it seemed as though the earlier incident was long since forgotten. He rather enjoyed being the center of attention, and having everyone hanging on his every word.
"Yes, you see, there are a few people who think they know Voldemort's true identity. He would like to create doubt on that issue. He's going to appear in public and make a speech, while someone else leads an attack in another location. This would be a smaller attack than the one Claudia is leading, but it will make a statement. And guess who is going to lead that attack?"

Bellatrix's mood suddenly soured. Everyone was having these wonderful mission while she was stuck up at the school, spying on children. "You, no doubt." Her voice was less enthused, but she wasn't trying to put down the work Lucius had done to rise up to the position where he could be given such an honor. He had worked very hard. Bellatrix looked over to Narcissa, to see how she would react to the news.

"Yes, me," Lucius replied, puffing his chest out a little, making him look rather like a strutting peacock. "You see, the Dark Lord has been teaching me a spell... a spell he'll soon be teaching all of us. It will place his mark, like the one we have on us, up in the sky. he will use it as a symbol and warning that he has been here and that his work has been done."
He was oblivious to the lack of enthusiasm coming from Bella; he was much too concerned with his own personal triumph.

Narcissa beamed proudly at Lucius. She was extremely happy that he was in the Dark Lord's higher ranks. That of course was something to be proud of. Her parents where even more proud of him, so that was wonderful. The more she thought about it, the more Cissa didn't know if she, herself, wanted to become a deatheater. She wasn't sure how well she would do when it would come to missions. She would be more of a strong supporter because of Lucius. However, she pushed the thought from her mind. That wasn't important at the moment. Lucius' achievement was far more important.
