When he pulled her against him, any hope of thinking clearly was lost. Her heart was beating erratically in her chest, and her breath seemed to catch in her throat. She wasn't one to notice scents or anything, but he smelled incredibly good. This was the closest they had ever been, and as she looked into his eyes, it was almost like she was in a trance. Her movements felt slow, like something out of a dream.
Still, she couldn't seem to stop smiling. Slowly, she nodded. "I trust you," she replied. Taking a shaky breath, she leaned her head against his shoulder. Her eyes drifted closed and she allowed her mind to shut off and follow the rhythm of the music.

She had him just a little distracted, and he forgot how exactly he was going to teach her to dance, or if he could just hold her and sway a little without her questioning him.
He breathed in the smell of her hair again before nodding. "All right. Eyes closed... Just listen to the music, and if this makes any sense, try to just feel it."
Great. She was going to think he was off his rocker. He could see a thousand different ways in his head of how this could go downhill quickly. His fingertips tightened just slightly, almost unnoticeably pressing into her hips as if willing her to stay.

Her arms were around his neck, and she allowed one hand to wander upward and brush against the hairs along the back of his neck. All she could think at that moment was that there was no place she'd rather be than in his arms. If this was what love was like, then she could hardly blame her silly friends back at school for getting so giddy and giggly over boys.
As he spoke, she listened to his words and to the sound of his voice. It drowned out the music, already a faded background noise to her ears. Instead of following the music, which now seemed pitiful and inconsequential to her ears, she followed the movements of his body and moved in the same way, so that they were perfectly in synch. She felt as if they were not two people, but one.
It occurred to her that she was probably being completely shameless. She was draped all over him on the dance floor, not even attempting to put a distance between them. Was she acting too eager? Was she going to chase him away? And what would everyone else think if they saw her like this?
But these thoughts caused only a moment of alarm for her. He was still there, and didn't seem to be showing any signs of going anywhere. And she didn't really care what anyone else thought of her, not really. Opening her eyes, she peered up at him, her expression serious. "How am I doing?" she asked.

He felt a chill run down his spine at the feel of her fingers across his neck, and had he not been so hypnotized by watching her, he might have closed his eyes as well. He didn't want to miss any of this, though, and wrapped his arms around her.
Her question pulled him back to reality, and out of his thoughts which were leading him down wonderful paths, and he smiled, pulling back so he could catch her eyes.
"You, doll, are doing fantastic. Who ever told you that you couldn't dance?" he stopped short of telling her that she was simply amazing.
The whole situation had Ted's mind in a fog. He was usually so level headed and logical, especially around girls, but Andi had him feeling like he was tripping over himself just to make sure she was happy.
It hit him them, with her wrapped so perfectly in his arms, that he might be falling in love with her.

Andi laughed softly. When he talked to her like that, he made her feel pretty and feminine and girly, all the things she had never really thought she was before. As she danced with him, she felt surprisingly graceful, almost as if she was floating a few feet above the ground.
"Hmmm," she said, smiling up at him with sparkling eyes. "I think it's probably got more to do with the teacher than with the student. Maybe it's just that no one bothered to teach me before."
It was true, of course. At Hogwarts, she had dated a few guys, but never really anything serious. She'd already gone out with ted more times than with any of the other guys. But then, none of them had ever made her feel like he did.
At that moment, the music changed, jarring her out of her stupor. The song was louder and faster than the previous one and she felt herself beginning to panic again. "OK, so now what?" she asked.

He seemed to sense her panic and ran a hand through his hair. As much as he was enjoying this, and didn't want to break the moment, he felt now was the right time to do so.
"You know, I actually just got back into town about... Two hours ago. I'm exhausted, to tell you the truth. Would you mind if I sat this one out?"

Andi felt the mood shattering, and although it was disappointing, she was also relieved. She wasn't entirely confident in her newfound dancing ability, and she was a little worried that her attempts at dancing to a faster song would make her look a bit like a wild chicken.
Smiling, she nodded. "Yes, of course... Let's sit down for a bit. We could get a table over there, if you don't want to go back to the bar." She pointed over at the tables. She could see Amelia and Kyle sitting together at a table near the back. Wanting to be alone with him, she scanned the area for an empty table. "Maybe you could tell me a little about your trip, if you can talk about it, that is."

He looked back at the tables she pointed out, then at the bar, and the place suddenly seemed overwhelmingly crowded. He glanced back at her, indecision appearent in his eyes.
He wanted to invite her back to his apartment. They lived in the same complex, so it wouldn't seem like that big of a deal. There was a part of his mind, though, the distinctly male part, that told him there was no way to offer that and have it sound innocent.
"Do you want to get out of here?" he asked, then backtracked. "We don't have to. A table would be fine, too."

Andi hesitated. She would be lying if she said she wasn't tempted. She was actually very tempted. She was about to ask where he wanted to go instead, when the realization hit her. They both lived in the same building, and it would be very easy to just hang out at his apartment, or at hers. Was that what he meant?
And yet, she was still tempted. She was nervous about it, though. Being alone in an apartment with him, after the way she had been behaving all night, there was a chance that she might let things get out of control.
She decided to play it dumb. "We can get out of here, if you want. I was thinking about leaving before you got here, anyway. Where did you want to go instead?"

He released a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding. He didn't know if she honestly hadn't caught on, or was trying to lead him elsewhere, but he'd go with it either way.
He shrugged. "Just somewhere a bit more... Quiet," he said, his eyes on hers. He laughed then, to try and make them both more at ease. "It's too loud for me to even think in here tonight."
He felt like he had blown it, and was trying desperately to save it, whatever "it" actually was.
Still, to make sure she was comfortable with wherever they ended up, he asked, "Any ideas?"

Andi was uncertain. She couldn't quite blame him for wanting to go somewhere more quiet; now that she had come out of her fog, the place seemed unbearably loud and crowded. But she didn't know exactly what he wanted. She decided to give him some options.
"Well... there's a cute little restaurant down the street a ways... They're usually pretty quiet. Or we could go to the observatory and look at the stars... or maybe just take a walk..." She trailed off, trying to gauge his expression. Taking a deep breath, she added, "Or... we could just go to my place..."

Ted knew of the restaurant down the street, and she was right, it would likely be quiet. But there would still be other people, and if she wanted to hear anything about his trip, that was out. Which left the observatory, or a walk.
He next suggestion caused him to look up, and he wasn't sure how to answer right away. Would he like to just go back to her place? Yes, of course, but there was a hesitant way in how she had offered it. He could have been the hesitant one, not wanting to scare her off. Above all, he just wanted her to be comfortable.
"Why don't we just take a walk?" he asked. They'd be alone, they could talk, but there would be no pressure on either of them.

Andi relaxed a little. A walk seemed about right... it was low pressure, but they could be alone to talk. And if they ended up back at her place--or his--well, they could deal with that when it happened. She wasn't really sure how she felt about that yet.
Smiling, she nodded and held out her arm. "OK, then," she said. "A walk sounds good. It's a nice night out."

It could have been stormy and cold and miserable, and it still would have been a nice night to walk with her. Again, he refrained from saying this to her. If he only had a quid for everything he didn't say to her...
He took her arm and lead her out of the nightclub. Once the door closed behind them, the music and conversations became just a dull roar, and he swore he could breathe easier.
"I missed you, too," he said, bringing back her comment from before their dance. "How's your training been going?" he asked as he chose to walk right.
(should we move this thread or is okay here?)

((Why don't we move to another thread after this post, in case Kyle and Amelia would like to continue their conversation.))
Andi felt her breathing return to normal as she stepped outside with him. The cool autumn air tickled her face and filled her lungs, making her feel invigorated. Or maybe it was just being alone with him. She wasn't sure, but she decided not to think about it further.
When he admitted that he had missed her, too, she felt her cheeks turn pink. It felt good to hear, that maybe he had missed her just as much as she had missed him. "My training is going pretty well," she replied. "I actually have my first assignment already. I just hope I haven't blown it already..."

(I'm not sure where to start it, Lol, so I'm just going to put it in the apartments, since they'll probably end up there anyway... Even if in their own separate apartments)
