Amelia was about to shoo this new chap away when the first started to get worked up. "Actually, yes." She had never had to answer that question with a 'yes' before. Usually men only asked such things when they were trying to be macho.
Andromeda might not be in the market for a white knight, but Amelia didn't mind playing the damsel in distress if it meant this man would hang around for a bit. He was rather good-looking, in a rugged sort of way. Not the type you normally find at Spellbound. She smiled flirtily at him.
((OOC: I know "flirtily" is not a word, but I've decided to make it one.))

Kyle looked at the first guy with his eyes narrowed. "Well, you heard the lady," he said. "I think you'd better be moving on. No one wants any trouble." He held out his wand, but kept it lowered, hoping to indicate that he didn't want to fight. He would if he had to, but he preferred to settle it peacefully. Surely the kid could see that he was not welcome here and would want to move on to greener pastures.

Caleb had invited Bellatrix to Spellbound with him, and as always she had simply rolled her eyes and walked away from him without an answer. But as the night wore on and nothing proved to hold her interest more than a few minutes, she decided to meet him for a few drinks and see what came of things.
The club was crowded but a small group near the bar caught her eye right away. There seemed to be some sort of commotion going on, and of course Caleb appeared to be in the middle of it. That was not shocking in the slightest. However, as Bella made her way over to the group, her jaw dropped. Caleb was with her sister Andromeda. "You've really lost your marbles, haven't you Cal?! Please tell me you're not picking up my sister!"

As the older man drew his wand, so did Caleb. If he wanted a fight he would get a fight, and a drawn wand, even when lowered, was an invitation for trouble. "I don't believe anyone asked you to butt in." He was inching his way closer to the man, ready for a fight, when Bellatrix appeared seemingly out of nowhere. "What are you doing here? Who's your sister?" He had suddenly lost all interest in fighting, and was now curious as to what he had stumbled upon. It was a well known fact that Bellatrix no longer spoke with her older sister. This would be interesting. He pocketed his wand.

Andromeda had been eying the second guy, who, despite his good looks, did not give off a Death Eater vibe to her. But she had a feeling Amelia had taken a liking to him, so she was prepared to step back and let her new friend chat with him, once the first guy had been chased away.
But what happened next was something she was not expecting. She heard a voice and turned to see her sister Bellatrix walking up and talking to the first guy. Twice in one week... how unexpected! She broke into a smile, knowing all too well that Bella was less than thrilled to see her. "Bella!" she said, pushing past the first guy to give her sister a quick hug. "How about this, huh? First we don't see each other for almost a year, and now we run into each other twice in one week! How strange is that? It's like fate's trying to tell us something, don't you think?"

Bellatrix sneered and pushed her sister away from her forcefully. Had she been drinking? She must have been pissed to think that Bella would hug her, after everything they had been through. Yes, Bella had been somewhat pleasant to her when they had ran into each other outside Professor Rothschild's office, but that was only because Bella simply had to get that position. And now that she had it, there was no reason to be fake. "It's fate's way of telling me not to hang around Caleb anymore."
She looked to Caleb distastefully. "The company you're keeping Cal, really! Hitting the bottom of the barrel with this lot, aren't we?"

When Andromeda had mentioned the strain between her and her family, Amelia thought she might have been exaggerating a bit. But after witnessing the cold way Andi's sister reacted to her, Amelia was convinced. And shocked. The Blacks were generally thought of as upstanding citizens, and to see one of the Black girls behaving in such a way and speaking so poorly of her own kin in public, Amelia had a different opinion of the Blacks. At least this one.

Andromeda sighed. She had expected this reaction, but she had hoped that Bella's sudden interest in teaching was a sign that she was changing for the better. "Come on, Bella, don't be that way. I don't know what Dad told you, but I did not turn my back on the family. We had one stupid argument and he kicked me out. I didn't want to leave. Come on, we're sisters, flesh and blood. Don't let Dad make us into enemies."

Kyle, meanwhile, was feeling a bit confused. He had been gearing up for a fight with the other guy, and now, suddenly, he seemed to be caught in the middle of a family feud. He dropped his wand hand so that it hung naturally at his side, but he didn't put it away just yet. He wondered whether he should invite the blonde to move over to a table and leave the feuding sisters alone.

Bella simply rolled her eyes at Andromeda. "Come on Cal. I'll help you find a suitable girl for the evening." She emphasized the word 'suitable' so that her sister knew she was speaking ill of her, then she grabbed Caleb tightly by the wrist and dragged him off into the crowded nightclub.

Caleb was thoroughly entertained by the sisters banter and somewhat disappointed when Bellatrix ended it all and began to drag him away. "It's alright," he said to Bellatrix loudly so the other brunette could hear. "Your sister obviously prefers the fairer sex." And then they were gone, lost in the sea of drunken, dancing witches and wizards.

Andromeda shook her head. Obviously, her hopes for Bella had been nothing more than wishful thinking. She took a sip of her butterbeer, then, finding it lacking, called over to the waitress. "I think I need something stronger. Maybe a firewhiskey."
While the bartender was getting her drink, Andi turned to Amelia. "Sorry about that. My sister and I never really did get along... I was just kind of hoping things would be different, now that she's older. I guess I was wrong. But, hey, at least we didn't end up starting a bar fight... although, the night is young."

Amelia continued to watch in awe. She had never witnessed such a bizarre family event. And by their new gentleman friend's reaction, he was a little shocked as well. After it all ended she tried to keep her face free from judgment as she looked back at Andromeda. "It's too bad. I was sort of hoping at least one you two would have started a fight with them." She laughed as she looked between the man and Andi. "But like you said, the night's still young. I may get my entertainment after all."
Smiling, she introduced herself to the man who had joined her for what she would later be calling the Black Family Theatre Show. "I'm Amelia, by the way. And this is Andromeda." She then gestured to where the two youngsters had disappeared. "And that was quite odd. Thank you for your help."

Kyle smiled, and would have tipped his hat, had he been wearing one. Instead he just nodded at both of them. "Nice to meet you both. I'm Kyle. Um, hey, sorry about your sister," he added awkwardly to Andromeda, who seemed to be rather upset.
He took a sip from his butterbeer, as he looked at Amelia. There was something vaguely familiar about her, and he wondered if they had met before. "Do you happen to work at the Ministry?" he asked. "I feel like we've met before."

Amelia nodded as she took a sip of her water. When she had swallowed she said, "I do. Magical Law Enforcement." She didn't want to say that he did not look familiar to her, it would be rude. So many people came through the Ministry everyday, it was hard to keep track. After a while, if they weren't in her department, she barely took notice. And even then, some of her collegues were so bothersome that she'd rather not have met them at all.

Kyle nodded. "Ah, OK. That explains it. I used to work at the Ministry a few years ago, in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. I wasn't really happy there, so I quit and went out on my own as a Dark Creature Catcher. That's actually why I'm here tonight... I got a tip that this place is a popular hangout for vampires." He took a quick look around, reminding himself that he had not actually come to socialize. Although it seemed highly unlikely that either of the two women were vampires, he couldn't be too careful. It was not a good idea to be caught unaware where ever vampires were concerned. He was still kicking himself for the last time he'd let it happen.

Amelia had only been working for the Ministry about three years, so it was conceivable that they had met while she was still new, and therefore meeting dozens of people at a time. That was why she did not recognize him, but he would her. And he clearly had a very good memory, at least for faces.
She watched him eye the crowd, as if he had forgotten all about the vampires when that little snot nosed brat had started in with them. "Vampires, huh? I'm willing to bet that Bella Black is at least part vampire. I'm sure Andromeda would back me up on that, if you wanted to hassle her for a bit." Amelia laughed, looking back at Andi compassionately.

Andromeda, still in the middle of her glass of firewhiskey, swallowed the rest of the glass and coughed heavily. "Yeah, actually, I wouldn't be surprised if she was. She always was drawn to the darker side of life. I think she gets it from my father. I keep hoping that she'll change, but I see now it's hopeless." She sighed and glanced back in the direction where Bella had disappeared. Auror intelligence had included Bella's name on a list of suspected Death Eaters, but Andi had been trying to defend her sister. Now she had a sinking feeling that it was true. Daddy must be so proud, she thought grimly.
"But, hey, don't let me drag you guys down. Why don't you two dance or something? You could probably make a pretty good sweep of the club from the dance floor."

Kyle shrugged and looked at Amelia. He wasn't much of a dancer, but the idea of dancing with Amelia wasn't an entirely unpleasant one. It seemed like a good way to relieve some of the awkwardness of the situation, at the very least. But he wasn't entirely sure how she felt about the idea. "Um, we could do that, if you want," he said. "I'm not a great dancer, but I promise I won't step on your feet or anything."

Amelia laughed and looked back to Andromeda. "He sounds thrilled about that," she joked. "Alright," she replied to Kyle, "but only if you stop begging. It's unbecoming." She laughed again and set her glass down on the bar. "Lead the way." Amelia grinned at Andromeda as she left.
