Kyle laughed as well. "Yeah, sorry about that. I admit, this kind of place isn't really my thing, you know?" He led her out to the dance floor and smiled sheepishly at her as he began to dance to the mid-tempo song. "I really don't get out a lot for social events. I'm the kind of person who's happiest when he's working. And the nighttime is when Dark Creatures tend to be most active, so usually, while people are out having fun, I'm working. This is actually the first time I've been here."

Amelia giggled as he rambled on about his lack of a social life. It was easy to fall into work and ignore the instinct to meet people. But Amelia knew from experience it was much more enjoyable to live life to it's fullest, which was why she was a regular at the club. She, of course, loved her job. But when the work day was over she tried to loosen up. Kyle obviously needed to learn to do the same.
"C'mon then. I'll show you a good time. Promise." She grabbed his hand, since he seemed intimidated by the dance floor, and guided him into the center of the room. Multicolored lights swirled around the room as the music played an upbeat tempo. Amelia began to sway with the music, moving her hips in time with the beat.

Kyle followed her to the dance floor. He knew he shouldn't be uncertain about dancing, but he did it so rarely that he wasn't sure if he knew how. But as he watched Amelia move along with the rhythm, he began to follow her lead. Soon the music began to take control of him and he began to loosen up. "Hey, this isn't so bad," he said. "You're a really good dancer."
This totally wasn't what he'd expected from the evening, but he decided to just go with it. After all, being all work and no play was making him a bit dull. And lonely. Instead of hunting vampires, he was now dancing with a beautiful woman. What could be wrong with that?

"You're not too bad yourself. I don't see why you don't come out here more often." She smiled as she continued to move. She turned around, so that her back was too him, still moving to the music. When she turned back she said, "I'll bet there are plenty of vampires here tonight. Not that I'm encouraging you to go back to work or anything."

Kyle smiled. "Thanks. You know, I should get out more often and try to have some fun. You know what they say about all work and no play... I'm afraid I'm guilty as charged." He took her hand and spun her around so that she was facing him again. "Yeah, I'll be there are some vampires here... it's funny, though... I don't care so much anymore." At least at the moment, he reasoned, no one seemed to be leaving with potential vampires, and that was usually when people ran into trouble. Vampires did not usually bite their victims in the middle of crowded nightclubs. They preferred to do it in private.

Her robes flung themselves around her legs as Kyle spun her, then fell back into place gracefully. She didn't want to be a distraction, especially since his job was so important, but she was having so much fun that she wouldn't dare leave him to his work. "I'm sure there will be plenty of vampires to chase after next time you come. I assume you'll be back more often now?" Since you know I come here, she thought to herself.

Kyle glanced around quickly, intending to do a quick visual sweep for potential vampires, but instead he found himself admiring the way her hair caught the light as she spun around. She was not only beautiful, she was also interesting. She had a sharp mind and quick wit, and those were things that never failed to interest him in a woman. "Yeah, you know... I think I just might come here more often. It's proven to be a more enjoyable experience than I was expecting."

"Well," she started in response, "I do believe that is what they planned when building this place. I know it's why I come here." She grinned as she spun herself around, letting her robes spin outwards and falling gently back into place as she slowed to face Kyle again.

"Yes, I suppose that was the intention," Kyle agreed, reaching out to take her hands and pull her closer to him. "It's just that I so rarely get out and just allow myself to relax and have fun. I guess I sort of forgot what it was like. Sad, I know..."

Amelia giggled as Kyle pulled her nearer. Her heart beat stronger, but not from the excitement of dancing. Amelia had never been one to fall "head over heels" for a man, any man. And it startled her that she felt she might be doing just that. "I'm sure we can correct that dreadful mistake." Amelia wrapped her arms around his neck.

Kyle could feel his heart beating faster as she wrapped her arms around him. It had been a while, too long actually, since he'd spent the evening with a beautiful woman. Surely that was it, the reason his head was spinning and every sense felt heightened. He was intoxicated by the scent of her, the sound of the music, the touch of her skin, the glow of her smile. For the first time in a very long time, all thoughts of work flew out the window. He was wholly focused on her.
"I'd like that," he said in a husky voice, moving closer so that his face was only a few inches from hers.

With him being so close to her she felt as though she should kiss him. Certainly she wanted to. But the little voice inside her head screamed at her to run away from the situation entirely. Of course with his arms around her she couldn't begin to listen to her head. It had been quite some time since she had felt all jittery around a man, she almost dreaded the point where they would stop dancing. What would she do with herself?
She would need to pull herself together or risk looking like one of those people she swore she would never be; a lovebird. "How did you hear about the vampires bothering people around here? Did the owners call you?"

Kyle's head was spinning. It was as if he'd been flying straight up into the atmosphere when someone suddenly yanked the broom out from under him. "Vampires?" he repeated blankly. He shook his head, trying to clear it. "Um... yes. I mean, no... it wasn't the owners. Seems the owners don't mind the vampires... they're regular customers. The tip came from the neighbors next door at the Conservatory. Some, uh, bodies have been turning up in the alleyway between the two. And with the cemetery just down the street... it seems a pretty logical area for vampires."

She tried to hide a soft giggle at his confusion. It was adoreable. "Oh my, that is awful. I know we've gotten a few tips about that particular graveyard, but I've never handled anything like that. We leave that sort of work up to the slayers. I tend to stick with breathing law breakers." It was a bit of a struggle finding the air to dance and speak at the same time. Not that she was out of shape, in fact in her line of work she needed to be in fit condition. But she had always danced as if it were a second work out and got her entire body in tune with the music.

"I'm sure you're great at it," Kyle replied, feeling somewhat breathless. "I've encountered a few vampires in my time. They're hard to fight, because they're so strong and quick. But when I went out on my own as a Dark Creature catcher, I went for some training on vampire slaying. So I've done pretty well. I was only injured once, and then there was the one that got away..." He frowned as the memory of the little girl vampire flashed through his mind. He was sure she was still out there, and he wondered if she had killed yet. If she had, he would never be able to forgive himself for letting her go.

Her breathing was getting more labored with her movements Amelia decided she needed another break. "You don't mind if we sit for a bit, do you?" Amelia began to zigzag through the crowd again, this time heading to the darkened tables and couches of the lounge. "Got away? That must've been a strong vampire to escape after your training."

Kyle was getting a bit tired from dancing as well, so he was relieved when Amelia suggested that they sit down for a while. He enjoyed talking with her, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to continue their conversation while they were dancing.
But as they discussed the vampire who had gotten away, he hesitated. The girl had not only gotten away from him, he'd pretty much let it happen. He'd been taken in by her youth and apparent innocence, and allowed it to distract him from what he should have done. Instead of slaying her on the spot, he'd held back. And that delay had caused her to escape. "Well, the truth is, I didn't actually fight that one. She acted all innocent and helpless, so I allowed myself to underestimate how dangerous she could be. She ran off without a fight. To tell the truth, she;s the one I'm looking for, because anyone she kills from this point on... it's practically my fault."

Ted had been gone for too long. It had been just over a month, but it had felt like so much longer. When he first got home, he had gone straight to her apartment and knocked. As he looked at himself in the mirror now, he supposed it was a good thing she hadn’t been home. He looked like hell, to be honest. His hair was a mess, he had dark circles under his eyes… he was fine, just tired. Tired and dirty.
He turned his head to the side, eyeing his shower.
Twenty minutes later, he looked like the ever dashing and charming Ted Tonks again, though his hair was longer than when he had left, and he had a little bit of facial hair that hadn’t been there either. Had he not wanted to see Andromeda so badly, he would have taken the time to shave, but neglected it tonight.
He stopped by her apartment one more time, and sighed, wondering where in the world she could be. “Probably on a date with someone only half as cute as I am,” he joked with himself.
When he had given up, unable to find her (and feeling a little foolish for having walked all over town thinking he could find her), he was walking past the night club, and figured it couldn’t hurt to just check. Even if she wasn’t there, he could get a drink for his efforts.
His efforts were rewarded. He spotted her immediately from across the room and smiled, making his way over, careful not to catch her attention just yet.
He slid right up next to her, knowing she would probably hate the close proximity of a presumed stranger, and leaned sideways against the bar. He motioned for the bartender to refill her drink, unaware of the ill thoughts she had towards the first man who had done that for her tonight. "So, there's this girl..."

Andromeda was still deep in thought about the earlier incident with Bella. For as long as she could remember, she and Bella had been at odds over just about everything. It depressed her, because she had always hoped for the close sisterly relationship that so many other people seemed to have. Even thought she got along better with Narcissa, there was still a distance between them. She loved both of her sisters, but it seemed that she was just different from them. She saw things differently than they did, and had different ideas and priorities in life.
Ted--she smiled as she thought of him--was a prime example of that. He was muggleborn, and she knew full well that if her family knew she was seeing a muggleborn, they would blot out her name from the family tree. Bella would never give a muggleborn so much as a second glance, unless she could somehow use him for her own gain. She feared Narcissa was probably the same way, which was why she had chosen not to mention it when talking to Cissa about Ted. After all, one only had too look at the man to whom Narcissa was engaged to see where her priorities were. She might have actually loved Lucius Malfoy, but the fact was unavoidable: his family was one of the oldest and purest families in the wizarding world. Would Cissa have fallen for him if he wasn't? Would she have even given him the time of day?
Andi turned these thoughts over and over in her mind. It was making her dizzy, trying to figure out how her sisters' minds worked. Maybe it really was better if she just wrote them off, as her father already had done with her.
She had finished her glass long ago, and was surprised when the bartender approached to fill her glass a second time. She was about to protest, saying that she had not ordered a refill, and was in fact, thinking of going home, when she heard a voice next to her.
She turned, preparing to rip the guy a new one, but stopped when she realized who was sitting next to her. "Ted!" she cried happily. He looked so good, a balm to her shattered nerves. How had she managed to forget how handsome he was, or how the look in his eyes made her feel weak in the knees? She wanted to throw her arms around him right then and there, but she held back, not wanting to seem over-eager. Smiling shyly, she pushed a hair away from her face. "It's good to see you."

He smiled in that easy going way of his when she turned, and he saw it in her eyes for a split second-- that look that said she was not pleased. He loved when she got on her independent, women are strong and capable kicks. The look seemed to melt away instantly, and his smile grew.
He took in everything about her in the next few seconds, the way her hair fell in her eyes, not to mention those eyes, the curve of her lips. He wondered if he should admit just how much he had missed her. For how little he really knew about her, and the few times they had gone out, it didn't seem appropriate, but he fully intended on getting them to the point where he would admit it to her.
He frowned when the excitement turned to shyness, and at her words actually rolled his eyes, but smiled to let her know he was about to tease her. "It's good to see you?" he repeated, glancing at the bartender and ordering a drink for himself. "That's all I get? Is it's good to see you?"
His drink was placed in front of him, and he thanked the man, taking a sip before turning his full attention back to her. "It's good to see you, too. And might I add that you look stunning tonight."
