Emily headed straight for the hospital wing since it was on her way out anyway. She hoped that Poppy would have something that would stop the sick feeling. By the time she reached the hospital wing, a episode of feeling lightheaded hit. Emily stopped for a moment, then continued to walk forward. Closing the door behind her, she glanced around the hospital wing. "Poppy," she called out.

Madam Pomfrey was busy tending to a student and didn't hear Emily right away. "Now then," she said to the boy, "next time you fall off your broom, don't use magic to make your bones disappear. Regrowing bones is not a pleasant business!" She handed the boy a cup of Skele-Gro, and made sure that he had finished the entire cup. "I'll be back to give you more in an hour."
She shook her head as she walked away, wondering what these kids were thinking and if they were being taught the proper spells in their classes. Making bones disappear! How that would ever help was beyond her.
She was still thinking about this when she noticed Emily standing by the door, looking very pale. "Oh, dear!" she gasped, running over to her. "Come, sit down on one of these beds. There you go... What's the problem?"

Emily waited patiently as Poppy took care of one of the children and carefully followed her to one of the empty beds. She sat down slowly and glanced back up to her. "I'm not sure Poppy. I think it just maybe a virus or something. Whenever I woke up this morning, I felt sick. I didn't really think nothing of it, and came on to school after a shower. I still feel that way."

"Hmmm," Madam Pomfrey said, frowning. "I do know there is a virus going around among the children, but let me have a look just in case. Lie down, dear, and I'll check you over." She took Emily's hand and noticed that she did not feel particularly warm. In fact, she was actually a bit cold. "You don't seem to have a fever at all."

Emily did as she was told and laid down on the bed. Poppy's hand felt warmer against hers. "Maybe it's just something I had last night," she said, although there wasn't really anything Emily could think that she hadn't eaten before that made her sick. Or maybe, she just ate to much last night, and her body wasn't used to it. "Or maybe I had too much to eat," Emily suggested. As of late, she had seemed to be more hungry than usual, but of course, she didn't think twice about it.

"Hmm," Poppy said thoughtfully. She checked Emily's temperature, and found no fever. "Well, you feel warm, but you don't have a fever. Are you feeling light-headed at all?" She began to lightly press on Emily's stomach in various places. "Let me know if it feels tender or sore in any place."

"I did feel light headed when I was on my way here," she replied. Emily felt Poppy's hands on her stomach as she began to press. The pressure from her pressing didn't really make it feel sore nor did her stomach feel tender, it just felt a little uncomfortable. She started to shake her head as Poppy finished moving over her stomach. "It just felt a little uncomfortable, but that's it."

Madam Pomfrey nodded. "That is very interesting..." she said, looking at Emily with her head tilted slightly. "Tell me, dear, if you don't mind, how is your cycle? You aren't late, are you?" She stopped pressing on Emily's stomach and began to wave her wand over her, murmuring an incantation as she went.

Emily thought about it for a moment. "I'm about three days late actually, however it's happened before. It seems that about every other month I'm like that." A thought occurred to her, however, it couldn't be true, could it? The lateness was a usual thing. She had never been more than four days late.

Poppy's eyes widened as she continued the scan of Emily's stomach. "How long have you been feeling this way?" she asked. "Did it just start today, or has it been happening on and off for a little while? And have you been unusually tired lately, or have any trouble getting to sleep?"

Emily wasn't paying attention to Poppy's expressions because she was staring at the ceiling for a moment. "The feeling just started once I woke up this morning. I think it's what really woke me up. Sometimes during the day I feel tired, even I'm not doing anything, but that's been occurring for awhile now. I think sometimes I'm not getting enough sleep." Emily glanced over to her, noticing her face and a feeling of worry came over her. "What's wrong Poppy?"

But Poppy broke into a wide smile as she lowered her wand and looked over at Emily. "Nothing's wrong, dear. Nothing at all. Tell me, is everything going well between you and Vincent? Do you want me to summon him here before I tell you what's going on?"

"Every thing between us is going great," she said relaxing. Emily was still confused as to what was going on, but obviously it was something good otherwise Poppy wouldn't be smiling, nor would she ask to summon Vincent. The earlier thought crossed her mind again as she nodded. "Sure. I don't see why not. I don't think he's really busy."

Poppy smiled at her. "Well, I definitely think he'd like to be here for this news," she said. "Hold on just a minute, I'm going to send him a message through the floo network. Just try to relax, and let me know if you feel like you need to be sick, OK?"
She walked away happily, a spring in her step. She loved being able to give this kind of news.

Vincent was at the office for a change, having just received some exciting news about his job. He had just finished a meeting with Felicia Campbell, head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, when he received an owl from Madam Pomfrey that Emily was feeling ill and needed him right away.
He quickly took the Floo Network and arrived directly in the Hospital Wing. Running over to Emily, he immediately grabbed her hand. "What's wrong? Is everything OK?"

A smile spread across her face as Vincent appeared. "It's alright," said Emily. "Don't look so worried. I just woke up this morning sick. Once I found out that Lucie was back, I headed here and obviously it's nothing terrible because Poppy doesn't looked worried. She just hasn't told me what's going on yet. She said that she was going to summon you, that's all."

Vincent sat down next to her, stroking her hand. "I don't understand," he said. "If it's nothing serious, then why did she summon me here? Why won't she tell you what it is?" He looked around worriedly, trying to see where Poppy had gone to.

"Hey, Vincent, listen to me. Don't be worried. I asked her what was wrong myself, but she said nothing was wrong. She just asked how things were between us and then she asked about summoning you and I said that I guessed it was OK," Emily said squeezing his hand and offering a smile. "Calm down. I'm sure that if it was something serious Poppy would be worried herself, but obviously she's not worried. I'm not sure why she didn't go ahead and tell me, unless she wanted to tell us both at the same time." At the realization, Emily started to smile again and closed her eyes for a moment, although she didn't want to have false hope.

Vincent frowned. He couldn't help but be worried. Things were going so well for him at work, and he couldn't help but think that it was so typical for one thing to go wrong while something else went right. "If you're sure..." he said doubtfully. He kissed her hand, then stood up. "Let me just go find Poppy, I don't think I can wait to find out what's going on..."

Just then, Madam Pomfrey walked into the room, carrying a potion in her hand. When she saw Vincent, she broke into a smile. "Oh, good, you made it," she said. "That was rather quick, did you take the Floo Network?"
Without waiting for his response, Poppy walked over to them and stood at the foot of the bed, her face radiating with undisguised joy. "Well, I suppose you're wondering why I summoned you here before telling Emily what's causing her sickness."
