Sirius sighed. "You're right. I know you are... I just can't help but think how I let everyone down. I should have been there!" He shook his head. "But you're right... I can't think about that right now. I have just just focus on finding her. Let's go to Zonko's and see if we can find James. Then we can head over to the Hog's Head. How does that sound?"

"Sounds like a plan," replied Peter. The boys headed over to Zonko's and Peter opened the door, causing the bell on top of the door ding. "I'll just let you start the talking with James, and if I need to, I'll jump in and back you up. Okay?" Peter waited for Sirius to start walking so that he could follow. How strange it would be for Peter just to show up in front of James and say that some crazy lady kidnapped Kris? He figured that he'd let Sirius do the talking, considering it would be slightly less awkward, at least in Peter's case.

Sirius looked around the store quickly, scanning the rather large group of students that had come into Hogsmeade for the weekend. When he caught a flash of red hair, he stopped. It wasn't Lily; it was Robin. He smiled as he noticed that James was standing next to her. "There," he said to Peter. "They're over there. Come on." He grabbed Peter by the sleeve and dragged him over to the display of stink pellets, where James and Robin were in the middle of a conversation.
"Hey, guys," he said breathlessly. "We have a situation. It's kind of an emergency..."

James was in the middle of talking to Robin when he was cut short by Sirius. He still had one of the new scented stink pellets in his hand. Glancing over to Sirius, he gave him a strange look when a head full of blonde hair was right behind him. Peter. What was he doing here, and why was he with Sirius? It didn't make any sense. Where was Kris? Sirius didn't just leave her did he? James however wasn't going to ask why Peter was there, although he was sure his facial expression said it all. He noticed Sirius looked worried. "What happened Sirius?"

Sirius sighed. "I think Kris has been kidnapped. We were in the Three Broomsticks, just having some butterbeer, when this strange woman came up to us and started talking to Kris. Kris seemed to know her, and I think it was the woman who raised her. Kris wanted to talk to her about something, so they went to a separate table. Then I... uh, I got up to go to the bathroom and I ran into Peter here. We started talking, and by the time I got back, Kris and the woman were gone. I asked a witch who was sitting nearby, and she said the woman dragged Kris out of the place or something... And now I've got to find her..."

"Woah, wait. Kris is kidnapped?! Remus doesn't know does he? Wait, of course he doesn't know, you're still here," said James trying to get his thoughts together. He glanced over to Peter and gave him a suspicious look. "So, he came along with you to find her, right?" He scratched his head. "Well, what about this woman. Do you know anything about her? Have you looked anywhere other than here? You know I'll help you, and I'm sure Robin will help too. I can't even think of a place to start looking other than the Hog's Head." He still tried to grasp the concept of Sirius actually talking to Peter, and him being here. James gave a shake of his head. That didn't really matter now. What matter was, James had to keep Sirius safe from Remus' wrath which would probably take affect. He didn't want to see him angry. "Okay, well, we can't just stand here. That's not helping her! Let's go!" James started walking out the door, tossing a handful of galleons on the counter, paying for both his and Robin's items. The store could keep the change.

Sirius nodded. "You're right. We were just thinking of checking the Hogs Head." He wiped his brow as he walked quickly to keep up with James. "Listen, do you think maybe we should tell someone at school? You know, like Dumbledore? And we also have to find Remus and tell him... even though he'll probably kill me..."

Robin listened fearfully as Sirius talked about Kris being kidnapped. She couldn't believe something like that had happened, just like that. She'd seen Kris less than an hour ago, and suddenly she was gone. "Um, if you want, I could go back to the school and tell Dumbledore," she volunteered.

James stopped as Robin said she'd go tell Dumbledore. There were too many things going on in his head. "Okay," he said. "Robin, you can go back to the school and tell Dumbledore. Just let him know we're looking around Hogsmeade for her. And be careful on your way back since you're going alone, but be fast. Thanks." James flashed her a smile and turned to Sirius and Peter. "Alright then, let's start looking. We can start looking for Remus after we look in the Hogs Head. I won't let him kill you. After all, you didn't know what the woman would do."

Robin nodded. "OK, no problem," she said. "Good luck, guys. I really hope you find her." She walked away quickly, glancing back over her shoulder at them for a second. She was still stunned about what had happened. It all seemed so strange and sudden. She walked a little faster, hoping to herself that everything would turn out OK.

Sirius didn't say anything as they walked toward the Hog's Head. He knew full well that he deserved to have Remus be angry with him. He still couldn't believe that he'd been off kissing Amy while Kris was being kidnapped. He had to be the worst boyfriend in the world. He silently vowed to himself that he would be better, if they ever got Kris back. He'd pay more attention to her, he'd try not to get too impatient with her strange moodiness or quietness. And he'd force himself to stay away from Amy. It was the right thing to do.
As they reached the Hog's Head, he took a deep breath and walked inside. Glancing around quickly, he could see that neither Kris nor the woman were anywhere in sight. Not that he expected to find them just sitting there enjoying a glass of butterbeer. He glanced at James and Peter. "Um, I guess we just ask the bartender if he saw anything..." he said.

James followed along side Peter behind Sirius. The situation still didn't make sense, but there wasn't any time to dwell on it. Upon entering the Hog's Head, he looked around for any sign of Kris, but all he saw was people sitting around just drinking. He didn't notice any young girls around, and of course they probably wouldn't be just sitting around drinking in a public place like this, knowing that people would start to look for her. "I guess we should," he replied. "Erm, excuse me sir," begin James, "did you happen to see a young girl with a woman come in here or anything?" He put his hand about the height of his shoulders out beside him, "And she's about this tall."

"Yeah," said Sirius. "I have a picture of the girl, if you need it. And the woman was tall, with wavy brown hair. She was pretty and dressed like a muggle. I think she'd stand out if you saw her. She was really obvious-looking. Did you see anyone like that?"

Zander, who was behind the bar, looked at the three boys in concern. They seemed worried, and maybe a little confused. It wasn't very often that students from Hogwarts came into the Hogs Head. "No, I'm sorry, I haven't seen anyone like that," he said. "But I'll take a look at the picture, if you don't mind, and I can let you know if I do see them. Did something happen?"

Sirius handed over the picture of Kris he carried in his pocket. "Her name is Kris," he explained. "I think the woman might have kidnapped her or something. She's her adopted mother, but Kris didn't want to stay with her anymore now that she's back with her family."
Sirius wasn't sure why he had just told all of this to the bartender, but there was something warm and comforting about him.

Zander nearly dropped the picture when he recognized Kris. But he knew that the boy couldn't know the truth about Kris and what she was, so he quicklty recovered and kept his face blank. "I'm sorry, I definitely haven't seen her. But I'll keep an eye out, OK? Do you need anyone to help you look?" he asked.
What was it with his pack members getting kidnapped these days?

"No, that's OK," Sirius said, feeling dejected. "Thanks, though." he took the picture back and stuck it in his pocket, unable to look at Kris's face himself. He kept thinking about how he had betrayed her.
"Come on, guys, let's go. There's got to be somewhere else she could be."

James gave a sigh as the bartender said he hadn't seen her. He started to shake his head. Where else could they have gone? There weren't many places a muggle woman could go. She couldn't just disappear. James followed Sirius and Peter out of the door. "Where else could they have gone? What about the Shrieking Shack? Although, I'm not sure why she would want to go there. Maybe she just tried to blend in somewhere, but the problem is, where?" He ran a hand through his messy hair. "Anyone have any ideas?"

Peter remained quite as the boys walked through Hogsmeade. He was too busy thinking to keep up with what they were talking about. Several different scenarios ran through his head but one of them faded away as he realized that Kris and her mother were not at the Hog's Head. What was a way that a muggle woman could get away quickly? What would Peter do if he was stranded with a little girl and he was a muggle? Wait. Kris wasn't a muggle. She was a witch. There was something that would help out the stranded witch or wizard! Peter quickly snapped his fingers. "I got it," he said excitedly. "I bet you she took the Knight Bus. However, to where, I haven't the slightest clue."

Sirius listened to James's comments with a frown. It didn't make sense, how quickly the woman was able to disappear with Kris. As Peter spoke, he turned to look at him, confused. "But how? We talked about it earlier... muggles can't take the Knight Bus, right?"
