Looking at the stars (Kris)

[Sirius Black]

Sirius shook his head. Her family situation had hurt her very badly. And as much as he hated his family, he wondered how he would have felt if they had just dumped him the way her father had dumped her. He tried to imagine her, young and alone, without any friends. He thought that must have been a very sad sight.

"I'm sorry," he whispered to her, rubbing his hand over her back comfortingly. "Obviously those kids were idiots."

[Kris Lupin]

"But I'm glad I'm here, if I never came here I wouldn't have you, or my brother." Kris said putting her arms around him, if it hadn't been for him she wouldn't have came back.

[Sirius Black]

"I'm glad you came here, too," Sirius said, kissing her. "You see, the good thing is, the past is over. You don't need to let it get to you anymore, because you're in a better place. Everything's going to be great, you'll see." He pulled her closer as a sharp breeze picked up.

[Kris Lupin]

"You're right, I should just forget about the past." Kris said smiling. She looked up at the stars and started to wonder if she would look as sickly as her brother. She looked at Sirius then asked, "What's your thoughts on werewolves?" She was just curious about how he felt about them, she wasn't planning on telling him anything.

[Sirius Black]

He was leaning against her and just starting to relax, when suddenly she asked about werewolves. He almost laughed at the random-sounding question. Sometimes he didn't know where her mind was, and this was one of those times. "Werewolves?" he repeated. "Well, I don't really know. Never met one. But I know my mum hates them and I do make it a practice to like everything she hates, so I guess they're OK. Why?"

[Kris Lupin]

"I was just wondering, just most people don't like them or think they're not human." Kris bit her lower lip, she wondered how he would fell if he found out she was a werewolf.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius shrugged. "Well, they're human most of the time, right? Except for during the full moon. I don't know, I mean, I guess it would depend on what they're like when they're not a werewolf. It's basically a curse... so it's not like it's something they chose. I guess I sorta feel sorry for them. You know, unless they're jerks when they're human or something." He reached over and brushed a strand of hair away from her face. "Seriously, why are you asking about werewolves? What put that idea in your head?"

[Kris Lupin]

"I guess just the moon made me think of them." Kris said even though she hadn't even looked at the moon, she kinda wanted to ask how he would feel if he found out someone he knew was a werewolf but that would be cutting it too close for comfort.

[Sirius Black]

"Oh, OK," Sirius said, shrugging. "I admit, I don't generally think about werewolves. Like I said, I've never really come into contact with one. But, hey... they gotta be better than vampires, right?"

[Kris Lupin]

"Yeah, werewolves can be out of a day and have a heart, vampires don't." Kris said as she put her head on his shoulder. "I love it out here, I wish I could come out here every night"

[Sirius Black]

Sirius grinned, feeling strangely relieved to have the sudden conversation on werewolves end. Something about it seemed odd to him, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was.

He leaned against her and sighed contentedly. "I wish we could, too. But it's probably too risky to do it every night. Even for me," he added. "But maybe we can plan to do it once a month or something. How's that sound?"

[Kris Lupin]

"Ok, sounds like fun." Kris smiled, just as long as it isn't on the full moon. She thought as she looked at the stars.

[Sirius Black]

"Cool," Sirius said, smiling. He leaned back against the wall and closed his eyes. "I think this year's going to be better than last year, don't you? I met you so late in the year... I'm glad we're together now."

[Kris Lupin]

"Yeah." Kris said though she didn't know how well it would go for her when the full moon came, she would have to talk to her brother. "I love being outside, I feel like I have nothing to worry about when I'm outside." She said as she watched the stars twinkle.

[Sirius Black]

"Yeah, I like being outside, too," Sirius agreed. "The fresh air, the feeling that anything could happen.... there's so much to see and do and explore. You know what I mean? That's why it was even more miserable being stuck in the house all summer." He looked up at the sky. The moon was a perfect half, as though someone had sliced it in half. The stars seemed a little brighter than usual, and the sky was a deep, inky black. They couldn't have asked for a nicer night.

"That star. Right there," he said suddenly. He pointed to one that was twinkling brightly and seemed to be separated from all the others. "That one is your star."

[Kris Lupin]

Kris looked up and smiled she kissed his cheek, "I think it's perfect for me. Like you." She put her head on his shoulder and sat closer to him.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius pulled her closer to him, so that she was sitting partially on his lap. "You're not cold, are you?" he asked.

[Kris Lupin]

"A little." Kris said, "But I don't wanna go in yet." She closed her eyes, she felt at home out side with Sirius.

[Sirius Black]

"I should have thought to bring a blanket or something," he said. "Next time, we'll do that. But for now, I'll have to keep you warm." He wrapped his arms around her and held her closer. "You know, I don't even know your full name," he commented after a while. "What's Kris short for? Is it Kristin, or Kristina? Or are you just Kris?"

[Kris Lupin]

"Kristina." Kris said, "I'm not sure if I have a middle name." She bit her lower lip thinking back, she couldn't recall her middle name ever being used. "Do you have a middle name? Or is it just Sirius Black?"
