Healing

[Chloe Owen]

Chloe gave the girl a smile. "Hey Kris," said Chloe. "We won't hurt you. Like Skye said, we're friends. Whenever you're here, make yourself at home."

[Kris Lupin]

Kris let out a small smile then looked at the man on the bed. "Is...is he ok?" She asked in a whisper.

[Chloe Owen]

"Yeah, Karl's fine," said Chloe. "Just a few cuts and a sore shoulder, but he's okay," she said. "No worries. Do any of you want anything to eat or something?"

[Kris Lupin]

Kris nodded then lowered her eyes to the floor. She wondered what Sirius was doing at that exact moment.

[Chloe Owen]

"What would like to eat Kris? No need to be shy around us," said Chloe. "You know what? Why don't you come with me to the kitchen and help me fix something?"

[Kris Lupin]

"I...I don't know what I want." Kris said answering the first question. She looked up at her then nodded to answer the last question.

[Karl]

Karl smiled at the girl. "Nice to meet you, Kris," he said. "Don't worry about me, I'm fine. I'm just glad you're OK and you're here."

[Kris Lupin]

Kris looked back at the man. "I'm sorry you got hurt." She said quietly.

[Chloe Owen]

"Okay, well, Kris and I are going to head to the kitchen and find something to cook. If you need anything, just yell for me," said Chloe. She gave a smile to Karl and then put an hand on Kris' shoulder, "Come on, follow me."

[Karl]

"It's OK," said Karl. "I kinda enjoyed the fight. And having Chloe take care of me," he added, flushing slightly. "Hey, Skye, while they're making breakfast, can I talk to you?"

[Chloe Owen]

Chloe slightly flushed. She took Kris to the kitchen and opened up the refridgerator. "Do you like eggs? Bacon? Pancakes? Something along those lines," she asked Kris.

[Skye]

Skye was a bit surprised. "Sure, we can talk, Karl. What is it?" She glided into the room and sat down on the edge of the bed. "Are you sure you're OK?"

[Kris Lupin]

"I like all of that." Kris said listening to birds singing outside the window.

[Chloe Owen]

"Okay," said Chloe. "We can make pancakes from sratch. Have you ever done that before," she asked.

[Kris Lupin]

"No, I've never cooked before." Kris said smiling as she thought of what the birds might be singing about. She was also thinking about the birds back in America.

[Chloe Owen]

"Oh," said Chloe. "You seem a little out of it. Want to talk about it," she asked pulling out stuff for pancakes and eggs.

[Kris Lupin]

"Just thinking about what the birds might be singing about. And the birds back in America, the way these birds are singing remind me of them in a way." Kris said wishing she could see those animals again.

[Karl]

Karl nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just... I had something I wanted to tell you, something I shoulda told you a long time ago." He looked at her worriedly. "You might not like it."

[Chloe Owen]

"I see," said Chloe. She could sense there was something else there. "Is there anything else troubling you," she asked pouring the batter into a pan.

[Kris Lupin]

"I had a place that I would sneak to, I felt safe there, the animals were wild but they acted tame. I mean they would walk up to me, and comfort me when I was upset. They would let me pet them and when I got picked on the birds would peck that person on the head. My boyfriend said that they were like my guardian angels." Kris said smiling at the memories. "I miss them...I haven't seen them since we had to move back here."
