"Well, once for lunch," said Evangeline. "But their food is good, so let's go."

"OK, cool," said Tristan. He put an arm around her and led her out of the club. Outside, he cast one last glance back at the club. He would have to remember to have a little talk with Jake later...

Evangeline gave him a smile and continued walking more into town. "Thanks for that back there. I think I would have ended up being that guys meal."

"Yeah, he was definitely planning it that way," Tristan said. "I mean, really, right there in the middle of the club and everything? That takes a lot of nerve. I wonder if he was planning to make you into a vampire, or if he..." he shuddered. "On second thought, let's not think about that, OK? I don't even want to think about losing you now."

"I don't think he was planning on turning me," said Evangeline. "But, yeah, I don't want to think about it either." She walked a little closer to Tristan whenever they got to the Hot Panini. Evangeline opened the door.

Tristan put his arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer. "It's OK," he said. "You're safe now. I won't let anything happen to you. I'm just sorry I got there so late. Next time, I'll pick you up at your house, OK?"

Evangeline leaned against Tristan. "It's alright, you just have good timing," she said with a smile. "And okay. That sounds good."

Tristan kissed her cheek, then looked around the restaurant. "I don't see a waitress. Should we seat ourselves?"

Evangeline nodded. "I don't see why we can't," said Evangeline shrugging. "Let's take a table close to the window, what do you say?"

"That sounds good," Tristan said. "You lead the way." He stepped aside and let her walk ahead of him toward an empty table.

Evangeline led him to an empty table close to the window and took her seat. "This place is nice," she said with a smile. "Thanks again."

"Yeah, I think so. It has a nice, cozy sort of feel to it. And the food smells pretty good." He smiled at her. "You know, I do think I've smiled more since I met you than I have in a long time. I just look at you and want to smile."

Evangeline smiled at him. "Well, I guess that's a good thing then. Smiling is one of the best medicines there is," said Evangeline.

Tristan looked around the room, trying to catch the attention of one of the waitresses. Finally one of them walked over to the table and handed them each a menu. Tristan picked his up and looked over the top of it at Evangeline. "Now, go ahead and order whatever you want," he said. "Whatever makes you happy."

Evangeline looked over the menu and thought about it for a minute. "I think I'll just take a roast beef and Jack cheese sandwhich," Evangeline said finally as she closed her menu.

"Hmmm, that sounds good," Tristan said. "I think I'll try the roasted chicken and tomato sandwich, myself." He closed his menu and looked up at her. "So, tell me more about you. What do you like to do with your friends?"

"Well, to be honest, I don't really have that many friends. I do have a best friend though. Cassidy LaRose. Whenever neither of us is busy, we'll go shop, or something along those lines. We don't really have that much of a chance to talk to each other, because of her job, so we make up for lost time," said Evangeline.

"Ah, well, that sounds nice, though," Tristan said. "I have a few buddies from work I hang out with sometimes, but that's about it," he said. "I'd like to meet your friend sometime. What does she do?"

"She's currently working on a case," said Evangeline. "Cassidy is an Auror, and good one at that. She doesn't have that much confidence about it, but I seriously think that this case is going to help her out a lot. I'm gald she took it."

"Oh, an Auror?" Tristan said, impressed. "Well, that sounds great. I hope that works out for her. Does she have a boyfriend? Maybe we could double-date sometime?"
