Tristan noticed the blush on her cheeks and grinned. "Oh, well, you'd beter be careful and not drink too much," he said. "I wouldn't want you to do anything you'd regret..." He didn't move, but he glanced again at the bartender. "Yeah, once I saw her have a whole argument with the thing. She's very odd."

"I'm not going to drink to much. I know my limits," said Evangeline. "That's interesting and quite odd," she said. "I kind of feel sorry for her."

"OK," he said, nodding. "Yeah, she's a nice enough girl, just... odd. I'm not sure whether she's really crazy, or if she actually can hear it talking. I know some wizards who have some really strange powers. Like this guy I knew who could speak through other people. His voice would literally come out of another person's mouth. Really strange. And at the hospital recently, there was a guy who could hear other people's thoughts... but the problem was, he could hear everyone and he couldn't stop it. He went insane. So who knows, maybe she can talk to fake fish."

"Maybe she can," said Evangeline. Evangeline turned to her drink and downed half of it. "I do still feel bad for her, because she could go insane because of it."

"Yeah, that's true," he said. When she returned with his drink, he thanked her and took a quick sip. "So, how about we go pick a table to sit at?" he suggested.

Evangeline nodded and followed him over to a table. She took a seat and finished off her drink. "Do you want to dance?"

Tristan downed the contents of his glass quickly. "I would love to dance," he replied. He set his empty glass down on the table and took her hand, leading her on to the dance floor.

"I apologize in advance if I step on your toes," said Evangeline looking up at him and smiling. She placed her arms around his neck. "I haven't danced since the last year of school," Evangeline said with a small laugh.

Tristan chuckled. "Eh, don't worry about it. Even if you do, I have heavy-duty boots. I don't think I'll even feel it." A slow song began to play, and he put his arms around her waist, but didn't pull her too close at first. "But I'm sure you'll do just fine. Just follow my lead."

"Plus too, I don't weigh that much, so I couldn't do much damage," said Evangline smiling. "Okay. Whatever you say," she said following his lead.

"That's true, too," he agreed. He moved slowly to the music, just moving from side to side. "I could actually show you how to waltz some time... I had to learn when I was at Hogwarts. Remember the year we had the Triwizard Tournament and the Yule Ball? I didn't want to embarass my date, so I learned how to waltz."

"Oh yes. The Triwizard Tournament. Those events scared me," said Evangeline. "I did go to the Yule Ball, but I left early, and didn't dance any," she said. "That's sensible. I probably would have done the same."

"Yeah, Wesley was mad when he found out we were having a TriWizard Tournament the year after he graduated. He would have participated. But of course, I wasn't talking to him very much in those days. We kind of... uh... grew apart." He looked sad for a minute. "You know, I can't even remember my date's name now. Guess I didn't have that great a time, either, eh?" he laughed.

"I see," said Evangeline. "A lot of friendships do that." Evangeline smiled. "No, I guess you didn't either. But tonight, I think I'm having the most fun I've had in several years."

"I think I'd have to agree with that," Tristan said, pulling her a little closer. "And the best part of it is, it's only just started." He reached up and touched her cheek. "You're beautiful when you smile."

Evangeline would have normally been a little shy about the whole situation, but she decided that she can't alway be shy about everything. "I know. I'm glad I met you, because if I hadn't, right now, I'd be curled up in my bed, reading a book," she said with a smile. "And, thanks again," said Evangeline glancing away from him, then back again.

"Well, I'm glad you're here with me," Tristan said, pulling her just a little bit closer still. "I probably would be sitting in the Hog's Head with a bunch of ugly, smelly guys belching in my face. So this is definitely an improvement for me, too." He moved his hand behind her head and began stroking her hair.

Evangeline didn't know what excatly to do now that she was closer to Tristan, and he was stroking her hair, so she just tried to play it off. "That would be horrible," said Evangeline. "That's why I try and sit off by myself whenever I go into the Hog's Head."

Tristan didn't say anything for a long moment; he just looked down at her through heavy eyes, as though he were entranced. "You know," he said at last, "You haven't stepped on my feet once so far. Or maybe I just didn't noticed, because I feel like I'm floating in mid-air. Do you mind... can I kiss you now?"

Evangeline smiled. "No, I haven't stepped on your feet. It's because I'm following your lead," she said. "And yes."
