Sabrina took a deep breath. She didn't like remembering that night. "Um, OK. I went to the Halloween ball with my boyfriend, Remus. And when I got there, I saw my cousins, Elle and Lucie, were already there. Elle had been in the Hospital wing for a while, recovering from the kidnapping and everything, so it was really good to see her out and about. So I was talking to her, and she seemed fine, much better than she had been. But when Laitia walked in, she got weird and shaky. And then suddenly she got up and ran over and started screaming at Laitia, telling her to get out, and Lucie went, too. Someone--I think it was Voltaire--tried to get them both to sit down and they did, but then Elle freaked out again and jumped Laitia. She had a knife--I don't know where it came from, actually--and she slashed Laitia's throat and stabbed her. Then she screamed again and collapsed. It was like just the sight of Laitia just caused something to snap inside her..."

"OK, thank you, Miss St. Clare," Vincent said. "Unless anyone else has any additional questions for you, you can step down."

Erasmus stood up and said "I have a few Questions for the girl!" he regally moved his hands and asked "So, you are the defendant's best friend and family member are you not? Well, wouldn't you do anything to help her?" he asked smiling snidely, he hoped she'd fall into the verbal trap.

Sabrina, who had already stood up from her chair, froze when Erasmus spoke. Sinking back into her seat, she stared up at him for a long moment. Her stomach dropped to her knees and her throat went dry. This was the man who had killed her parents... and who was supposed to kill her. And he dared to speak to her? She felt sick with fear and anger. Raising her chin defiantly, she said, "And what would you know about it? I doubt you've ever cared for anyone in your life. I'm sure you would turn against your own mother if you had something to gain from it!" She glared at him hatefully. "Yeah, I would do anything to help my cousin, but that doesn't mean I'm not telling the truth!"

"And how would you know if I've never cared for anyone! Really, your personal attack on me completely UN validates any information you may of offered, that and you seem to have a personal vendetta against me. I motion for the court to throw this witness out and her testimony!" he said frowning at the girl. Greta made this time to act completely heartbroken, dabbing her eyes and taking his arm as he sat down again.

Greta stood as Erasmus sat down and said "I agree with the motion! She obviously is an unreliable witness!" sat back down and counted to dab her eyes. "what a terribly thing to accuse you of!" she said audibly.

Emily looked over to Greta and the minister. "Well, if you think she's lying, why not just give the girl the truth potion? I can tell you the girl is telling the truth," said Emily a little bitterly. "overdramatic people," muttered Emily. "I mean, I honestly think you want to see Elle get sent to Azakaban."

"We are hear to evaluate the sanity of Miss Wright, during the attempted murder of her professor! This witness is obviously biased and with personal issues with the ministry and authority. In fact if you are here solely for the purpose of facilitating the freedom of an alleged attempted murderer, you should be thrown from the Wizengamot!" Greta said loosing her upset demeanor. Then she dabbed her eyes again, pretending it unsettled her.

Emily rolled her eyes. "No, but I know for a fact that Sabrina is not lying. Although I know Elle is her cousin and she wants her free, she wouldn't lie about that. So like I said, why not give her the truth serum? Of course if you deny that the truth serum wouldn't prove anything, that would seem a little suspicious on your part," said Emily calmly. "Now, you don't want to cause people to be suspicious of you and the minister now do you? I don't think you do. And please stop acting so dramatic, it's doing nothing for you."

Isabella stood up slowly and looked over at Erasmus and Greta with a cool expression. "Ms. Weiss, I'd like to point out that Sabrina's testimony was quite clear and focused and it wasn't until Minister Craven spoke that she lost control. Certainly the Minister is aware of his effect on children, and I think the girl is hardly to be blamed for being upset and intimidated by him. Perhaps if you would allow someone else to question her, we could prove whether her testimony is reliable or not."

"Or perhaps if you left the room and had someone reliable and trustworthy to retell it to you, we wouldn't have problems like this." Alastor said from in the back.

"I asked nothing that would immediately aggravate the girl, she obviously has a personal vendetta with my public image." said Erasmus, remaining seated "You tell me, what's better? the near fatal intoxication of our current truth serums, Or letting Mr. Corrigan's Unguided questions lead the investigations?" he said smoothly.

Dumbledore stood up and cleared his throat. "Now, then," he said, as all talking ceased and everyone turned to face him. "I do not think we need to use Veritaserum just yet. Nor do I think it is necessary to strike the girl's testimony from the records, as you have already heard it. Perhaps I could question the witness, if that would be agreeable to all parties?"

"alright then Headmaster Dumbledore. Go on then." Said Craven, smiling genially at him. Inside he was fuming that this lump of worthless deatheaters hadn't sided with him. He did turn and squeeze Greta's hand, she was always there, disturbingly so, but always there.

"Very well, then," Dumbledore said calmly. "Now, Sabrina, please tell me more about your relationship with Miss Wright. You said you were cousins and best friends. Did she ever tell you about her godmother, Laitia Kirak?"

"Yes," Sabrina said. "When she started teaching here at Hogwarts, Elle told me she thought she was a Death Eater. Lucie said the same thing after Elle was kidnapped."

"But did she ever mention her godmother to you before Ms. Kirak came to teach at Hogwarts?" Dumbledore continued. He wasn't happy that he had to do this, but he felt that the only way to keep the Minister from intimidating the witnesses was to question them himself, and he couldn't appear biased. He needed to show that he could be tough in his questioning, too.

Sabrina hesitated. She was surprised that Dumbledore would ask her such a question. "Um... well, no, not actually..." she stammered, feeling a bit confused.
