It seemed like everyone in the school was outside today. And why not? The weather was perfect--a brilliant, sunny spring day. And it was Saturday, so there were no classes to worry about. Some of the kids had optimistically brought school books out with them, obviously thinking that they would try to study in the fresh air. But concentration was pretty much impossible. There was simply too much going on. A group of Gryffindor boys were tossing a quaffle around, and someone had actually brought a wizarding wireless outside and was playing music on it. Some kids were dancing, and quite a few were swimming in the lake, much to the annoyance of the Giant Squid.
Pippa was one of the optimistic types. She had brought her potions book outside with her and was leaning against a small tree with it open in front of her. But she wasn't looking at it. How could she possibly find potions interesting when there was so much going on?

Annabeth also brought a book, she just hope others didn't distract her too much, or felt asleep, she once did and she was burned everywhere. She wasn't in her school uniform but nobody ever told her to when she wasn't in class. She was wearing a cane hat, a pink/white floral dress and white ballerina shoes. She saw a girl with red hair sitting by a tree. Annabeth stepped towards her. ''Hey, is it okay if I join you?'' she'd asked, she knew she was blushing, she always did if she talked to somebody she didn't know. But it wasn't a reason not to, unless she wanted to be friendless. She forced herself to try to make friends, she wasn't good at it though.

Aline had been sitting in the common room, absorbed in her diary while writing the week's events. She hadn't realized she had been alone until she finished writing, and looked up. There was one last student walking out, an older one she didn't know the name of, and when Aline asked where everyone had went, he simply replied "it's nice outside" before leaving the common room. Aline smiled; there was no reason for her to stay inside then, she thought, if everyone else was outside.
After making sure her diary was locked in her trunk so no one else could find it, Aline hurried outside, and looked around. Her first instinct was to ask some of the boys if she could play with them, but the size difference between them told her they wouldn't let her because she was "too small." Aline hated that excuse, but she had gotten used to hearing it.
She noticed Pippa sitting under a tree. Aline knew she was in her house and year, so she figured that was a good place to start for the day. After taking one last look at the older kids playing together, she walked to the tree and noticed there was another student there. Aline wasn't sure if she knew her or not, but decided to be nice and say hi, anyway. After all, Aline loved talking and making new friends.
"Hi Pippa!" She said cheerfully as she reached the tree. "I wish I had known about how nice out it was earlier. I'm Aline." She said, turning to the girl she didn't know. Aline was always quick to introduce herself; even while she was shopping if she was talking to someone she was sure she'd never see again, she would always give her name early on in the conversation.

Pippa smiled at the first girl who had come up to her. She thought she'd seen the girl around, probably in one of her classes. A Ravenclaw, she thought. "Sure, you can sit with me," she said happily. Though she was sometimes shy, it was always nice to have a little company.
"I'm Pippa," she began, and no sooner had the words left her mouth than they were joined by another person. Aline was one of her roommates, so she already knew her pretty well. "Hi, Aline! Come on, sit down and join us."

''I am Annabeth.'' she introduced herself to the two other girls. She felt a bit uncomfortable, like a third wheel. ''You both are Hufflepuffs, right?'' she asked. It's not like it matters what house someone was in but she was a bit curious. And it was a way to keep the conversation going.
((OCC: sorry I just woke up and my siblings are making a lot of noise, I can't concentrate on typo's or faults in grammar ATM. I'm annoyed, arghh))

Aline smiled as she sat down, smoothing out her skirt as she tucked her legs under her the best she could. Giving up, she put her legs out in front of her and fixed her skirt again. Merlin, she really hated wearing those. She kind of missed being home, where she didn't have to worry about a uniform.
"Hi Annabeth! It's nice to meet you." Aline said, smiling. The other girl seemed a bit shy, but Aline was certain she could talk enough to make both girls feel more comfortable. It seemed like, at times, Aline wouldn't be quiet.
"Yep, we're Hufflepuffs, the best house there is!" She laughed and shook her head. "I'm just kidding. What house are you in?" Aline didn't want to tell Annabeth she didn't remember seeing her around, just in case she was in Hufflepuff. Aline thought that wouldn't be a nice thing to say, and not a good thing for a first meeting.

Pippa could be shy, too, so it was really a good thing that Aline was there to help the conversation along. Sometimes Pippa felt she was born with the wrong color hair, since everyone said redheads were supposed to be fiery and outspoken. Pippa was neither of those things, or at least, she didn't think she was.
But she could sense that Annabeth was a little unsure of herself, and that gave her a little more confidence. She could relate to this girl, and she wanted to make her feel at ease.
"Please, sit down. We don't bite, I promise," she said. "I... I like your dress. Aren't you afraid you'll get in trouble for not wearing your uniform?"

''I am a Ravenclaw'' she answered Aline's question. She stared at her feet for a moment, she didn't want someone saw her blushing again. It really annoyed her, she stood in her own way to make friend. "Please, sit down. We don't bite, I promise," Pippa said. Annabeth sat down. "I... I like your dress. Aren't you afraid you'll get in trouble for not wearing your uniform?" Annabeth smiled. ''Thank you, I actually never got in trouble for this. The professors ignore it, they told me if as long as I didn't wear my own clothes in class, it's fine.'' ''You should do it too, it's pretty hot out here. I would fell like I melt in that uniform.''

Ravenclaws weren't too bad, Aline thought. She tried not to judge based on what house a student was in, but if this year had taught her anything, it's that everyone seemed to match up to their houses, so Aline stayed away from older Slytherins. Even some of the Gryffindor students scared her a little, but Aline liked some of the Ravenclaws. One of them helped her reach a book in the library. She knew it was probably a bad way to categorize people, but she couldn't help it.
When Annabeth made the comment of it being hot out, Aline tugged on her her shirt collar. She hadn't realized it before, but sitting with the sun on her was making her warm.
"You're telling me! I might have to start wearing my dresses. This shirt is way too hot for the sun." Aline said, and glared up at the sun as if to help make her point. She was used to getting in class, so she wouldn't mind if someone told her to change back into her uniform. She wasn't a bad kid, she just liked to talk and didn't always pick the best time to.

She giggled. ''That's why I ignore the rules sometimes, it's not like I want to annoy people, I just don't want to melt. They should make an exception for extreme temperatures.'' She was happy she didn't live in a warm country, she rather freezes then melt. She also burned quickly too, she didn't want to look redish.

Pippa widened her eyes at them. The idea of wearing muggle clothes outside of class seemed shocking to her... but then, she was muggle-born and she still kept expecting that someone would decide that she didn't belong here and send her home. For this reason, she tried to follow the rules to the very letter, and keep her head down so that she wouldn't stand out among the other children. It was bad enough that she had such bright, unruly hair, and she didn't need to call attention to herself by wearing muggle clothes.
But it was hot out, and she was practically melting in her uniform and robes. Maybe if she could just take the robe off, and just roll up the uniform sleeves, it would be a big help.
"Do... do you really think it's OK? Not to wear our uniforms, I mean? Like... could I take off my robe, at least? It's so hot..."

"Of course you can, nobody would blame you for that." Pippa seemed really scared, Annabeth didn't see the harm in it. And even if a teacher made a big deal of it, they couldn't expell someone for that. Could they? But she didn't care about possibly getting in trouble anyway, the only one who would care was her mom, since she was busy destroying her family's reputation. If Pippa and Aline didn't wear their uniforms, and a teacher didn't like what he saw, she was the one to blame, not them. "What about you Aline?" Annabeth asked.

As soon as Annabeth mentioned no one caring about being out of even a single piece of their uniform, Aline had already begun taking her robe off. It was just too hot for them in the summer! She also undid the first button of her shirt. She was wearing an undershirt too, but thought wearing only that might be pushing it if a teacher had seen her in only that and her skirt.
"I can't see them getting mad at us. And if they do, they're stupid." Aline said and laughed, looking over her shoulder to make sure there were no professors behind her that could have heard that. "Plus, if you've been wearing stuff like that all year, I think it'll be find."
Aline looked back to the lake and watched the kids swimming. She wished again she could swim today, but the stories she heard about the Giant Squid had scared her.
"Anything exciting happen to either of you? My week's been boring." Aline said with a sigh. She loved when something unexpected and fun happened; sadly, this month had not offered that for her.

Annabeth smiled a bit. ''Well, I was almost killed by the whomping willow, if that counts.'' And was saved by a handsome boy... Annabeth's face totally lighted up, it was probably the best thing that happened to her this year, or possibly in three years. ''That willow is really dangerous, why should they plant a tree like this anyway? I wonder if the rumors about the willow hiding some secret passage are true. But I learned my lesson, never get in range of the branches from that thing ever again.''

Pippa was still unsure, but as she looked around, no one else seemed to be wearing robes. It just felt... wrong somehow. But she was hot, and it probably wouldn't do anyone any good if she passed out from heatstroke. So she hesitantly began to take off her robe. Some boy nearby whistled at her, and she blushed furiously, nearly putting her robe back on. But when the boy looked away, she slipped it off again, and then folded it neatly on her lap.
"A secret passage?" Pippa said, confused. She'd been so caught up in trying to take off her robe that she only heard about half of what Annabeth had said. "Why would they put that tree there if there was a secret passage there? No one could get to it without getting smashed. I don't know why they don't put a fence around it... it's so scary!"

Annabeth laughed when she saw Pippa blushing, she thought it was funny how Pippa was that afraid to be caught. "A secret passage?" Pippa said, confused. "Why would they put that tree there if there was a secret passage there? No one could get to it without getting smashed. I don't know why they don't put a fence around it... it's so scary!" Annabeth knew if they did that some pupil's only would get more nosey and put themselves in danger, just like she did. ''Maybe because it's only used for emergences? The willow possibly only let teachers near but I honestly don't know.''

Aline listened to Annabeth with great interest. A secret passage? Now that was just the kind of excitement Aline was looking for! She could only wander the halls of the school and stand close to the Forbidden Forest so many times before she got bored of it. What kind of passage would be guarded by that tree, though? She wondered what it led to.
She was always curious about it, though, ever since she got to Hogwarts. Why would they put something so dangerous near a bunch of kids like her? Aline knew she couldn't be the only one who was interested in what was there.
"Well, I certainly hope not!" Aline said when Annabeth mentioned it only allowing teachers. "I don't really want to become a teacher just to see what's there. Hey, I have an idea!" She stood up suddenly, dropping her robe on the grass. "Why don't we try to sneak past the tree? It'll be exciting!"

Annabeth bite her lip when Aline suggest that, she would love to, but not if that meant breaking her word. ''Well, I kind of promised Sirius to not get near to that willow again, and I am a girl of my words.'' Annabeth thought for a while for an alternative. ''What about the forbidden forest? We could sneak in at night, nobody will see us. I want to know what's in there. There is no full moon this week, so we won't run into a werewolf.'' She read a lot about creatures lately, she thought it was interesting. She wonder if there was anyone in this castle who was a werewolf, but she did not want to take the risk getting ripped into pieces.

Pippa's eyes were wide with fear. She was definitely not as bold as the other two girls... She couldn't imagine doing anything that was so daring or potentially dangerous, not to mention against the rules. What if they got hurt? What if they got caught? She would be so ashamed if she got a detention or cost Hufflepuff any points. What would her parents say if she got into trouble?
"Oh, no, we can't do that!" she cried. "It's forbidden for a reason, isn't it? I bet there are all kinds of scary things in the forest... We could get hurt!"

Aline shuddered when Annabeth mentioned werewolves. If there was one thing that truly scared Aline, it was a werewolf. She knew she never wanted to run into one. She would be so scared she wouldn't be able to move! She kept trying to convince herself that it was just some poor person that got bit, but from all of her reading, Aline knew she wouldn't want to try to reason with one.
"I went near the Forbidden Forest once!" Aline said proudly, crossing her arms. "And I wasn't scared at all." She knew that was a lie, but she wanted to seem brave in front of the other two girls. "We should go! It'll be alright, Pippa. Plus, it'll be an adventure, and everyone needs one of those every now and then."
