Kelebek had recieved the owl that told her the time and place of her interview and stuck to it like glue. She wanted a good first impression. She went through all of her points of why she should get the job once more. She then decided the time had come. She raised her hand and knocked on the large door....

The receptionist answered the door and looked the woman up and down. After determining that she was here for the interview, she ushered the young woman into the office and asked her to have a seat.
The office was set up with a number of chairs along one side of the wall, and several copies of the Daily Prophet and magazines such as Witch Weekly, Wizard's Quarterly, and Magic Monthly. Along the other wall was the receptionist's desk, which was situated next to another door. This door led to the Minister's office.
"I'll tell Minister Corrigan that you're here," the receptionist said. She knocked on the door and stepped inside for a moment, then back out again. "It'll just be a few minutes."

Kelebek waited while the receptionist went to alert the Minister. This was the most nerveracking moment Kelebek had ever been in. She looked around the room and that just made her more nervous. She set herself to making her hair look better by curling it around her wand and just letting it fall. It didn't look any different. Kelebek decided to stop doing whatever and just wait. That she did, nervously...

The office was silent for several minutes, as the receptionist resumed her work and they waited for a signal from the minister. The time seemed to stretch on for for an abnormally long time, but after about eight minutes, a signal came from the minister's office that only the receptionist could see. She got to her feet and walked over to the door, opening it and poking her head in. She nodded, then closed the door again and turned to look at the young woman.
"The Minister will see you now," she said, and stood by the door, waiting for the girl to reach the door. After a moment, she opened the door and waved the girl inside.
Inside the office, Minister of Magic Vincent Corrigan was sitting at his desk, and a large, comfortable-looking leather chair was situated in front of the desk, facing him.
"Welcome," he said, nodding to the chair. "Please sit down. What was your name again?"

Kelebek stepped into the office and listened to his very short talk to her. "Kelebek Degirmenci, Minister." She sat down and looked at the Minister, smiling. She really hopd this went well...

Vincent smiled back. There was a lot of pressure on him these days, and most people who came into his office were complaining about one thing or another. It was nice to have something simple and normal and positive to deal with for a change.
"Nice to meet you, Miss Degir.... Degir... uh, Kelebek?" Vincent said, tripping over the pronunciation of her name. "Now, then," he began as he looked over the papers that his receptionist had given him. "You're here about the position in the Department for International Magical Cooperation, correct? Tell me, why are you interested in this department?"

For some strange reason, Kelebek instantly liked the Minister. It was probably because she liked anyone who couldn't pronounce her name. "Yes, Minister. I think I should have the job because I am fluent in two languages and learning a third and fourth, I have rather a lot of links in Turkey and the Middle East. I am also somewhat persuasive. I can also translate various languages but I cannot speak them. Oh, that's a down point." Kelebek laughed at how stupid she could get. "Sorry, Minister. I think that I could bring something new to the Ministry. Thank you." Kelebek took in a very deep breath. Now was the time to be nervous. And so she was...

Vincent nodded and jotted down a few notes as she spoke. It was good to have multi-lingual people in the Ministry, especially in that department. It wasn't required, but it could come in handy at times. Vincent, of course, was not multi-lingual... in fact, his wife Emily sometimes joked that he barely spoke English. So when he needed to deal with other countries, it helped to have people around who could translate.
"I see. I assume English and... Turkish? Are the two languages you are fluent in. And what languages are you learning now?" he asked.

"Yes, Minister. I'm fluent in English and Turkish but I'm learning Hebrew and Arabic." Kelebek thought this was going quite well. She actually thought she could do this. She then remembered her dismal DADA NEWT score. She really hope this didn't affect her chances. She then thought about what she did well at. She also realised that the heel on her left shoe had snapped when she ran for the Ministry entrance. She waited for the Minister to continue...

Vincent listened carefully, nodding as she spoke. He could tell that she was nervous, and he hoped that he was able to put her at ease. She was young, but she was eager and enthusiastic, which were always good qualities in Ministry workers.
"That's very good," he said approvingly. "We certainly don't expect you to be an expert in all languages, but the fact that you are interested in learning is a very good thing. Now, I have your NEWT scores here, and I looked over them quickly... I see that Defense Against the Dark Arts wasn't your strongest grade... but luckily, you won't need much of that in this position. How are you at writing papers and reports? Often in this department, you'll have to write reports on different initiatives that are being pushed through among the International Magical Cooperation Council."

Kelebek was relieved to hear that her poor DADA NEWT wasn't going to affect her chance of becoming a Ministry Official. He asked her about her ability to write reports and things like that. "Well, Minister, I have to admit that I am rather good at writing reports and things like that. I have a lot of time on my hands so I would be able to write these reports to the best of my ability." She hoped this was going well so far. It seemed like that to her...

Vincent nodded approvingly. He supposed he could ask for samples of her work, but he could probably ask her professors for references. He wouldn't be the one who would read most of the reports, anyway... that would be up to her boss.
"OK, that's good. And how are you at working with others? Many of your assignments are likely to be group projects, or you might be assigned to work with a partner on certain things."

Kelebek thought that the interview was going well. "Well, I work well with other people and I enjoy working with others." Kelebek felt more stronger now so she sat up a bit and smiled. She hoped she got this job...

Vincent nodded at her reply. By now, he was pretty sure he had made up his mind already, but he felt the need to carry on the interview a little longer, just to be sure. After all, these days, he needed to be sure he could trust his Ministry Officials. He couldn't afford to have any death eaters working for the Ministry.
"If you don't mind my asking, how do you feel about muggles and muggleborns?" he began.

Kelebek thought this a very odd question. "I think they are the future of the Wizarding World. Of course there will be pure-bloods. But, if we did not have children with Muggles, what would be left of us? Muggles, I think we should help them develop into a bright new age where there is no war so the Muggles can worry about their problems and not have to fight others peoples battles." Kelebek hoped this was a good answer. She thought this was going rather well....

This answer made Vincent very happy, and he allowed it to show on his face with a bright smile. It was strongly worded, indicating to him that she truly meant what she said and wasn't just giving him an answer that she thought he wanted to hear. If she were a Death Eater in disguise, she would have given a more generic response. But her words and the fire in her eyes as she said them made it pretty clear that she was sincere.
"Good," he said brightly. He was almost about to hire her right on the spot, but he just had one more question.
"What do you know about the Death Eaters and the man they call...." he paused and finished in a whisper, "Lord Voldemort?"

Kelebek froze at the name of You Know Who. She realized where she was after a second and replied as calmly as possible. She believed that it was important to look calm even if you are not. "I have heard of these people and I am completely against them. I know that they do their master's bidding. They spread fear to all. They darken lightened rooms. But we have one weapon they do not. Hope and love. They have lost all and gain nothing. Lord " she waited a moment "Lord Voldemort is a cruel and destroyed being. He has lost more than anyone but will gain nothing ever again until he sees his errors." Kelebek hoped this was a good answer. She waited for the Minister to continue...

Well, that pretty much settled it for Vincent. He could tell that her reaction was genuine and that she couldn't possibly be a supporter of Lord Voldemort. She was polite, respectful, and clearly very interested in the job. He had no doubt in his mind that she would be a good fit for the job.
"OK, just one more question," Vincent said, smiling warmly at her. He got to his feet and held out his hand to her. "When can you start?"

Kelebek was taken completely by surprise. "Well, erm, I can start as soon as possible. That meaning tommorow." Kelebek was surprised that she had actually got the job. She kept on thanking the Minister until she had worn her voice out. She was taken completely off guard. She held back the tears of joy that were behind her eyes. She didn't stop thanking him. She waited for the Minister to tell her where she had to go...

"Tomorrow sounds good," Vincent replied, smiling warmly at her. With all of the pressure he was under, it was nice to give someone good news for a change, and he was glad to see that she was happy about the job.
Getting to his feet, he walked around to the other side of the desk where she was and held out his hand for her to shake. "Congratulations, and welcome to the Ministry," he said pleasantly. "If you'd like, I can take you down to the Department for International Magical Cooperation, where you'll be working. Your boss, Mr. Crouch, is currently away on a conference, which is why I interviewed you myself, instead of him. But I have complete confidence that he will like you. I can introduce you to one of your co-workers, at least."
