(Nathalia, Victoria, and Marcy. It didn't let me put all the names in the subject)
Lorelei loved weekends almost as much as she loved work. Her weekends were spent mostly on her friends, leaving paperwork until the night time, unless she had something planned. She had sent owls to three of her friends early in the morning, telling them to meet her at the gardens for some time together, if they could. She just hoped she hadn’t woken anyone up; she was an early riser and forgot that most of her friends slept late on weekends.
She dressed in a simple blue dress, grateful it was getting warmer out, and made her way to the gardens, stopping at the muggle coffee place her best friend and her often went to. She felt she needed something to help her wake up a bit, and she knew she could count on coffee to help.
Lorelei was standing near the tulips, a smile on her face as she reached out and lightly touched one. She had always loved flowers, and made it a point to put them all over her apartment. Sure, her allergies would act up every time she brought a new kind home, but she would adjust eventually. At least, that’s what she told herself as she would stop by the apothecary for something to help with the sneezing and stuffiness. Tulips reminded her of when she first found out she was magical. They also reminded her of her best friend, which was the reason they were her favorite.
Feeling a sneeze coming on, she retreated to a bench in the middle of the garden, a central location for her friends to find her, and sipped her coffee as she waited.

(We're an awfully blonde group, haha)
Victoria was the first to arrive. This wasn't surprising, because Victoria was easily the most organized of the other three girls. She wasn't exactly a morning person, though, and she was carrying a cup of coffee from Joe's as she walked into the gardens.
She'd only just finished her first week at the Ministry, and it had been an eventful week at that. Sure, she'd spent most of it doing research... but she had partially helped to catch a killer--a killer that nearly killed Daniel. She didn't want to admit how relieved she was that he was all right.
As Victoria walked along the path, she heard a sneeze and broke into a smile. "You like torturing yourself, don't you," she teased as she walked up to Lorelei, holding out a tissue. "You know it'll make your allergies flare up, but you want to meet in the garden."

Lorelei looked up and smiled at seeing Victoria. She took the tissue, glad Victoria had come with it when she did. Lorelei didn't have the time to get the small pack she had with her from her purse in time.
"You know me. I love flowers, but they hate me. It's a terrible relationship." Lorelei said with a small laugh. She put the tissue in her purse, making a mental reminder to throw it away later, and moved over on the bench so Victoria could sit down.
"So," she said after taking another sip of her coffee. " I'm not sure who's all coming, I didn't want to wait at my place for any replies. But how was your first week? I want to know all about it." Lorelei asked. She loved spending time with her friends and hearing about their jobs. Some would probably think it was silly, but Lorelei liked talking about work. It interested her to hear what her friends were going through and doing.

"I'm sure Marcy will be along soon enough. She's always perky, even in the morning. I hope Nathalia will be able to come..." She frowned slightly at this. Out of the four of them, Nathalia was the one that Victoria worried about the most. She disappeared sometimes, and only later would they find out that she'd moved to New York or something. And her lifestyle was... unhealthy. She often stayed out all night, at some guy's house or another, and stumbled home early in the morning, if at all. And she didn't much appreciate being talked to about her bad habits... even the outspoken Victoria was afraid to bring it up anymore.
"Anyway... my first week," she said, glad to have a change of subject. "It was... well, boring. I spent most of my time doing research, that is, when they even had a job for me to do at all. I mostly worked with this guy... Daniel Leviner. He's... well..." A small blush crept up on her cheeks as she tried to think of a way to describe Daniel. Her first thought, embarrassingly, was "hot", but she was just barely able to suppress the thought. "Frustrating. Just when I'm ready to write him off as another male chauvinist, he goes and does something nice. I sort of helped break a big case, though... I was researching a string of murders trying to find who might be the next victims, and one of my suggestions just happened to be the right ones. Apparently, there was a big fight, too... Unfortunately, I had to miss that."

Nathalia came into the gardens wearing a large pair of muggle sunglasses- a pair of her mother's from 1960 or so that she adored- and a cup of coffee in hand. She was definitely hung over, and just wishing there was a potion that would cure that as easily as it did a simple headache. No, even wizards wanted you to suffer.
Had she been at her mother's, she probably would have ignored the owl and just kept sleeping. As it happened, she was at someone else's place, and needed to get up and make the walk of shame anyway. Casting a charm to fix her hair and make her at least look human, she stopped at Joe's and found her way here.
She was surprised to see she had made it before Macy, and raised her eyebrows as she came up on the other two. "I don't know if you were aware, but some of us like to sleep in the mornings. I do work nights." She was teasing and there was no malice in her voice, but it was all she gave them for a greeting before sipping at her coffee.

Lorelei saw the blush on Victoria's face when she mentioned Daniel, but she decided to let it go for now. She wanted nothing more than to see her friends happy, and while she thought they would be perfectly fine without a man, Lorelei loved finding out who they were interested in and finding out as much as she could about them. She knew she put too much interest in her friends' love lives and not enough in hers, but it didn't bother her.
"How can research be boring?" Lorelei said with a laugh. Of course, most of what she researched in her spare time was about muggles, and that was always interesting to her. She smiled when Victoria mentioned her idea being right. "Well, at least something good happened for you. First week of a job always seems boring... did you get the person saved?"
She was distracted by Nathalia, who she saw walking up to her and Victoria. She playfully rolled her eyes at her comment.
"I don't know what sleep is, you know that. Sorry, next time I'll shoot for an afternoon meeting." Lorelei said. "I hope I didn't wake you from a nice dream. How are you this morning?"

Victoria smiled as Nathalia arrived. She always had to try not to seem judgmental around Nathalia. The truth was, she worried about her friend. She'd had her own wild stage, too, when she was traveling, but she'd stopped when she decided to come back home and start the training for the MLE. It seemed like Nathalia just didn't know how to stop, and Victoria wasn't sure how to help her, or if she even wanted help. So she kept her mouth shut.
"Glad you could join us," she said instead, her tone playful. "And you beat Marcy... but knowing her, she probably forgot her purse, spilled her coffee, and then got lost on the way over."

"I take exception to that," Marcy announced, approaching the bench. Unlike the others, she was not carrying a coffee cup, and she looked quite alert and perky for a Saturday morning. "I did not get lost. OK, so I did forget my sweater, and I did have an unfortunate incident with my coffee... which is why I don't have any. But I didn't get lost. I just forgot where I was going for a minute."
She didn't sit down, but stopped to smell a large rose that was blooming close to the path. "So, what's going on with everyone?"

Victoria laughed and rolled her eyes. "OK, OK, I stand corrected. Or, I guess I sit corrected, actually."
She took a sip of her coffee as she glanced around at her friends. Lorelei was cheerful as always, Nathalia looked like she'd rather be sleeping, and Marcy was sort of out of it, too, like she had something else on her mind. So did Victoria, if it came down to it. Daniel had been on her mind quite a lot lately, and it was starting to worry her.
"I was just telling Lore about my first week at the Ministry," she said, bringing the other two up to speed. "We broke a big case, and I actually got to help. It was only research, but it helped. I missed all the action, though. Apparently an auror got hurt and so did the guy I've been shadowing."

Nathalia didn't have much of a chance to answer how she'd been, because Marcy arrived almost right behind her, and she let the other girls all say hello while she sipped on her coffee. Behind her dark shades, her eyes rested on Victoria. She felt like the greeting from her friend was a frown and a healthy dose of judgement. What was with that lately, any way?
Naturally, she wasn't really paying attention, and the only thing she heard an latched onto was probably the one thing they expected from her. She wiggled her eyebrows at Victoria. "Oh... and did you play sexy nurse for him?"

Lorelei sat in silence as she watched her friends talk, drinking her coffee and listening for a part to chime in. She hadn't heard much about the case Victoria was researching for, just some whispers through the halls. She was usually too wrapped up in her own work to pay attention to anything else.
She should have expected a comment like that from Nathalia, but it still surprised her. Lorelei had always liked boys, but she was much more content reading about muggle romantic figures than actually going out and finding her own. Whenever Nathalia mentioned boys, Lorelei would always get quiet and hope, with everyone else talking, that she'd be forgotten.
"Oh, I'm sure she did." Lorelei said, winking playfully at Victoria. Sure, she loved gossip and finding out what was going on in her friends' lives, but she wouldn't press for any information if they didn't want to give it to her. However, prodding about a man was worth the exception.

Victoria laughed at Nathalia's question, but she felt the telltale warmth of a blush creeping onto her cheeks. She wouldn't have been embarrassed... except that she DID go visit him, and she might have flirted pretty shamelessly with him....
"Kinda..." she said, grinning a little shyly. "I mean, the guy's an arrogant, wise-cracking git... but... well, he is kind of cute. And I might have flirted with him... a lot."
She actually giggled then, something she never did. Oh, Godric, she was getting in deep already... But there wasn't any harm in a little flirtation, right?

"Oh, God," Nathalia said, rolling her eyes behind her glasses and sipping at her coffee some more. "You just giggled. I'm not sure we can be friends again. Ever." She was teasing, of course, but the hangover might have made her a little more caustic sounding than she intended. She nudged Victoria. "Hmm. Tell us more. And then I want to hear how it's going with your boyfriend, Lor."
Yeah, she knew Lorelei wasn't dating.... yet. It was just a matter of time, though, and everyone knew it. And hearing about their relationships would keep her mind off if her extreme lack of one.

"Oh, Godric... I did, didn't I? Giggling and blushing... someone better Avada Kedavra me now, before I start writing his name all over my notebook," Victoria said, groaning. "And here I thought I was going to be a grown-up about this."
She paused to take a sip of her coffee as she tried to think about how to describe her relationship with Daniel. Sometime during that hospital visit, she had realized just how much she liked him. And she was pretty sure that he liked her, too. But she wasn't sure what that meant. She suspected that it wasn't unusual for Dan to flirt with girls the way he had done with her. And if she was honest, she could be a bit of a flirt, too. So was this a flirtation, or was it something more?
"His name's Dan," she began slowly. "He calls me sweetheart all the time. We sort of argue and tease each other... but he can be kind of sweet, too. Oh... and I kind of challenged him to a sparring session... and made a bet to go with it. I said that the loser would buy coffee for a week... and he escalated it to a dinner date."

Lorelei was laughing at Natalia's comment about Victoria's giggle, but stopped cold when Natalia joked about her boyfriend. Lorelei wasn't sure when she would get one, but she knew it would happen on its own time...at least, she hoped it would. She had Duncan, and she liked him, but they were just friends. She wouldn't mind being more but she didn't ever bring it up. She didn't want to ruin anything with him.
"Ooh, so he calls you sweetheart? Seems pretty serious to me." Lorelei said with a laugh, before taking another sip of her coffee. Her eyes widened when she mentioned dinner. "Oh, you better win. It'd be a shame to have you pay for your first date." Lorelei said, again with a joking hint in her voice.
She actually really wanted this to work out for Victoria. Of course, Lorelei wanted to meet this guy as soon as possible to judge him give him the "if you hurt my friend" speech, but she would let Victoria get to know him a bit more before she demanded he be brought around their group.

Victoria exchanged glances with Nathalia. Was Lorelei really that clueless that she didn't see what she had going on with Duncan? Ever since their days back at school, Lore had been talking about Duncan. Everyone else saw how excited she was to receive a letter from him or to be able to go home for a weekend and visit him. Why didn't Lorelei see it? One of these days, the boy was going to give up on her, if she wasn't careful.
"Well, he says it sort of ironically," Victoria said. "I keep telling him to stop, actually, and he won't. But I suppose it's better than Blondie, so I guess I'll go with it. Anyway, I'd better win. Even if I have to resort to trickery, I'm going to win."

Marcy, who had been quiet all this time, moved over and sat down on the grass across from them so that she could look at all of them. She was interested in all of her friends' stories, but she had one of her own and she was positively bursting to talk about it. But she didn't want to step on Victoria's toes, so she held her tongue. For now.
"You'll win," she said confidently. "I've seen you practicing your martial arts; you're really good. He won't be expecting it... he'll take it easy on you because you're a girl."
Looking over at Lorelei, she shook her head. They always used to wonder about Lorelei and Duncan and when they would get together. Marcy was beginning to wonder if the boy was gay or just shy. "How's Duncan, Lore?" she asked. "Are you still hanging out with him?"

Lorelei looked over at Marcy and smiled. Okay, they were up to something and she was determined to find out what.
"Duncan's doing great, actually. He's going to school to be a doctor. I think he's one of the smartest people I know, being able to learn all the medical things needed. And bravest; there's no way you could put me near sick people and expect me to be okay!" She said with a laugh. "He taught me how to use a telephone and bought one for me for my flat, so we can talk instead of using owls. I didn't want his neighbors getting suspicious of the owls coming and going from his home."
She might not have ever noticed it before, but whenever Lorelei would talk of Duncan she'd sit up a bit straighter and smile a bit more. Talking about him now, though, she caught herself smiling more as she talked about the phone. That had been a fun afternoon. Of course Lorelei had read about them, but actually operating one was a different story.
"I could ask him if he would want to come along next time we don't have a girl's only day planned. If you wanted to see him again, that is." She said. Any excuse for her to spend time with him was a good one.

It did not escape Nathalia's notice how Lorelei seemed to brighten up when she started talking about Duncan, or, actually, the light blush in Victoria's cheeks when she talked about her new partner. Victoria was a flirtatious girl anyway, she Nathalia had to assume that blush meant something.
"I'll have to give you my number, Lor, if you want to practice your telephoning skills. There's one at Stu's. Invite him along. Vicky, you should bring your partner, too, so Duncan isn't so hopelessly outnumbered on a girl's day. Poor guy."

Marcy could hold it in no longer. She was happy for her friends, but she her own news to share. She got up from her seat in the grass and smiled mysteriously. "I can't wait to meet Daniel, and it will be nice to see Duncan again," she began slowly.
It didn't occur to her that Nathalia hadn't mentioned having a guy in her life. She was sure Nathalia must have someone in her life... it seemed like she was always meeting guys, where ever she went. In fact, Lorelei had always had Duncan (whether she realized it or not), and Victoria never seemed to have trouble attracting a guy's attention either. But this was new for Marcy, and she wanted to share it with her friends.
"And if we're having a girls' day and bringing guys, maybe I could bring Noah..." she said in a deliberately casual voice.
