Lydia wasn't sure she believed Sean, and she continued to study him for any signs of injury. When she found nothing, she nodded. "I'm glad you weren't hurt," she said simply.
She turned away for a moment, checking on Daniel. His color was much better, and the blood transfusion seemed to be having an effect. Deciding that he had enough, she quickly disconnected Sean and bandaged his arm. Then she walked over to the shelf to get an anti-venom to further counteract the effects of the vampire bite. While she was there, she also grabbed a bottle of headache potion, which she handed to Sean with a slight smile. "Just in case," she said lightly, giving him a wink.
After a few minutes, she had the anti-venom drip set up on Daniel, then went to work on his other injuries, mostly cuts and scratches from the battle and from hitting the door.
Finally, she was done, and she smile slightly at Daniel before turning her gaze back to Sean. "He's going to be fine. As I said, there probably will be side effects for a while. Sensitivity to sunlight, sleeping problems, lack of appetite... maybe even some unexplained mood swings or odd cravings. But he wasn't turned, and over time the effects should diminish. It could have been a lot worse."
As much as Lydia hated to display any partiality, she had to admit to herself that it would have been worse for her if Sean had been hurt. She was starting to like him more than she probably should. He had a dangerous job, and there was no telling what could happen. The thought scared her, but she tried not to let him see that.

Danny was still looking him over to see if she could see any kind of injury. He seemed like the matyring time, and she didn't want to risk overlooking something just because he said he was okay. But the tone with which he told her the vampire wouldn't fight him was enough to convince her, and her eyes came back up to meet his. She nodded and turned towards a cabinet in the corner, where they kept all the standard potions like that. She came back to him with a headache potion. "She's going to be fine... maybe you should get some rest?" she offered gently. Rutger rubbed his eyes tiredly, then swallowed the headache potion the way some men would drink a shot of firewhiskey. Shaking his head, he looked back up at the healer. "No... I thank you for your concern, but I couldn't possibly rest right now. I need to be here for her, in case she wakes up." He really was exhausted, though, and he looked it. But he knew he wouldn't be able to sleep if he went back to the hotel. The most he could hope for was that he would fall asleep here on this chair for a while. "I should also check with your receptionist to see if the owl with the antidote formula has come in yet, and I should check on Daniel and Sean..." And Kryshna, but he didn't think he wanted to see her right now. He wasn't up for an interrogation, and he suspected she wouldn't be as well. But he should check to see that the healers had been able to fix her up, at least.

Danielle disagreed, but she didn't say it. He needed to rest, and the second his partner woke up, she would tell him the same thing, she was sure of it. So she was just going to take away everything he "needed" to do. "Diana has things under control... I will check with Adrienne, our recptionist, to see if the owl has come, and also for a status report on the others. You should stay here, then."
She gave him a warm smile, and gracefully exited the room to go about these tasks. Her smile faded, though, when she was out of the room. "These days are going to get more and more common," she told Adrienne, finding that the owl had arrived. "Send this to the lab, will you? Tell them we're going to need a couple week's worth of vials," she over estimated.
She went to check on the others personally. Coming in, she realized she was interrupting something, but she smiled at the two men and caught Lydia's attention. "Everything all right here? One of my patients is asking about these two."

Lydia looked away from Sean, and her cheeks were lightly tinged with pink. She had been wondering if she would get a chance to talk to Sean alone for a little while, as his brother got a little rest. Sean also looked like he needed some rest, and she was even considering whether she could get away with setting up an extra bed for him right here so that he could be close to Daniel.
Nodding quickly, she gave Danny a reassuring smile. "Yeah, I think everyone's going to be all right," she replied. "I'm going to keep this one," she nodded toward Daniel, "overnight, just to make sure, and I don't think I'm going to be able to get this one to go home to rest," she added with a smile toward Sean. "But everything seems to be under control."

At her words, Sean predictably shook his head, but he smiled, too. There was no way he was going home, and he liked that she figured this about him. He needed to make sure his brother was all right. Besides, if he went home alone, he wasn't going to get any sleep.
He wanted to talk to her later, thank her for taking care of Dan, and the headache potion, which he uncorked while she spoke to Danielle, and took like it was the last thing he would ever drink.
After assuring her that he was not going home, he tilted his head back and closed his eyes. His headache was still throbbing from the vision earlier, and he was kind of surprised he could even see straight at the moment. Rest might have done him a world of good. It just wasn't an option right now.

"Good," Danny said, nodding to Lydia. "I'll let my patient know."
In a quieter tone, she asked lightly, "Have you heard how it's going with the vampire? I'm worried about them."
Realizing Lydia had no information on that, either, Danny returned to Alana. "How's she doing, Diana?" she asked, doing a once over. Alana seemed to be stable. To Rutger, she said, "The owl came. Our lab is analyzing and creating as we speak. The brothers are fine, but one of them will likely stay overnight. Everything's taken care of..."

Rutger was mildly annoyed at having someone else do what he thought he was responsible for, but he didn't fight it. While he wouldn't acknowledge that he needed rest, he was glad, at least, to have an excuse not to leave Alana. When Danny left the room, he moved his chair closer to the bed and took Alana's hand in his, making sure he stayed out of Diana's way.
This was where he was when Danny came back into the room, assuring him that the owl with the antidote formula had arrived and that Daniel and Sean were doing fine as well. But there was still one question unresolved, and he looked up at her almost warily. "I don't suppose... there's any word on the vampire yet?"

Daniel rested his eyes through the transfusion. He didn't want to go home for awhile, because he knew that his parents would start asking questions. He didn't want to worry them anymore than they always were. Of course, he knew that there was probably not going to be anyway that he could really hide that information from them.
Instead of allowing his mind to continue to worry about his parents, he turned his head to look at Sean. Sean was more of his concern right now. He knew that there was something else with Sean. He knew his brother all too well. He wanted to ask Sean about what was going on, but he figured Sean didn't want Lydia to know too much. There was obvious attraction between the two, and he wanted to tease them so badly.
Daniel knew instinctively that Sean had a headache. Something happened back in the room, but his brother wasn't telling him what happened. "How's your head," he asked him in a quieter tone.

Sean sat up straighter when the needle was pulled out of his arm. He just barely stopped himself from groaning, but he did wince. The headache potion barely helped at all, but he couldn't ask for another without raising questions. He wanted to just throw up, and he knew This was bad.
As if sensing this, Dan asked him how his head was, and he refrained from nodding but said, "It's fine. You're in no position to play big brother right now."
He wouldn't meet Lydia's eyes. It was just a headache.

But Lydia was a healer, and as such, she was used to studying people for injuries and illness. And Sean did not look well. It was more than just a headache, she was sure of it. Frowning, she moved closer to him and looked at him worriedly.
"Sean... did you hit your head or anything?" she asked, examining him. She couldn't see any marks or anything, but just because he wasn't bleeding didn't mean he didn't bump it or something. It was worth asking, just to be sure.

"No," Sean replied, careful not to shake his head emphatically in response to her question. "No, I'm fine, Lydia. I promise." He met her eyes, trying to offer her as much reassurance as he could, but it was difficult. It really was just a headache... just stronger than he was used to. And he knew why... it was because he fought the vision. Because he focused so hard on staying lucid through it. It would pass. Daniel was the one with legitimate injuries, and Sean wasn't wanting to take medical attention away from him.
"Just... do you think I could take another headache potion? It's fine."

Lydia didn't like it, and she frowned deeply as she looked at him. If he didn't hit his head, then clearly the stress of his job was starting to get to him, because one headache potion should have been enough to at least take the edge off. Instead, it seemed to have had absolutely no effect at all.
She hesitated for a moment, then nodded and moved back to the shelf where the potions were kept. Her hand hovered in front of the headache potion for a second, then moved to the sleeping and relaxation potions. She was tempted to give him one of these instead, so that he could possibly get some rest for a change. But in the end, she decided that it wasn't right and grabbed the headache potion.
Walking back to him, she held out the potion, her eyes fixed on him. "You really should get some rest," she said. She sighed again, then looked over at Daniel. She knew Sean wasn't going to leave him, even though he was going to be fine. "Look... maybe I can arrange to have an extra bed brought in for you, so you can sleep here. And if anyone asks, I'll tell them you're both my patients."

"That really won't be necessary," Sean replied, nodding his thanks for the potion that he knew she was hesitant to give to him. He couldn't blame here, but he was thankful all the same.
He didn't need a bed in here, though. He could sleep just find in the chair- and had, in fact, slept in much less comfortable places. Besides, someone had to get to the office and report on the mission. And Godric, that little girl was still missing... no, he definitely wasn't going to need a bed at all. "But thank you for the thought. We'll both be fine."

Danny's gentle smile remained, but became a little more strained. She couldn't understand why they were keeping that thing alive... especially when it was because of the vampire that this girl was here. A girl he obviously cared for quite a bit.
"They're in isolation, sir," she reminded him, but the continued in case he was unclear what that meant to the hospital staff. "None of the staff are allowed in until the signal is given, or until Dr. Kelly gives the okay, since he's heading that case. But I will make sure someone tells you as soon as they are able to do so."

Rutger sighed softly, still holding Alana's hand. He could see by the look on the Healer's face that she wasn't particularly happy about Kryshna's presence here. He couldn't entirely blame her for that, really. But she could have information that he needed, about her partner, about her boss, about the reasons why she did what she did. She wasn't just an ordinary vampire, and she hadn't been killing for sport or pleasure, as he had once believed... and she wasn't even killing for food. It was more complicated than that. Yes, it was a risk to keep her here, but right now, he needed her alive and he wasn't sure where else to put her.
"So they haven't come out yet, then," he said, nodding and looking grim. "I... I'm sorry to have to ask them to put themselves in danger to help her. I know it is a risk, and I hope everyone will be all right. But she wasn't working alone, and I need to find out more about who she was working with, and for. I've chased that thing too long to let her die now."

(I figure just a couple more posts should finish up this thread, then we'll start another one for mostly just Alana and Rutger. ) It was a relief to all involved when they were able to leave the vampire behind. Angelique added a few extra magical protections to the room, just to make sure the vampire wouldn't get out. For now, Galen would stand guard until Angleique was able to arrange some MLE officers to come in an stand guard outside the isolation room door. Nodding to Chase, Angelique led the way back to the reception desk, where Adrienne pointed them to the room where the German Aurors were. There they found Rutger sitting in a chair by Alana's bed, holding her hand and talking in a low voice to the healer. It didn't seem to be about Alana, though, so Angelique cleared her throat to get his attention.

Rutger turned at the sound and saw Angelique and Chase standing in the doorway. Immediately, he got to his feet and gave Alana's hand a little squeeze before releasing her and walking over to the two of them. He felt a stab of trepidation as he approached them; he was just as worried about the staff members as he was about Kryshna's condition.
"How did it go? he asked immediately, focusing on the Healer who seemed to be mostly in charge. "No one was hurt, I hope? Were you able to heal her?"

This was surprisingly unfamiliar territory for Chase, who wasn't sure how to answer the Auror's question. He took an oath when he became a healer that he would do whatever possible to save his patient's life... and there were no conditions placed on that. The vampire had been his patient, and they saved her.
He glanced over at Diana and Danny. Danny met his eyes, and he could tell how she felt about the whole situation, and the worry in her eyes. He nodded subtly to her once, and turned his attention back to Rutger. "I think a couple bruises were the extent of her damage to any of us," he replied, thinking of how the creature had thrown Darryl across the room.... before thinking it was amusing to snap at him and scare him. "We're all fine. She'll survive, too. She's in quarantine right now until we can figure out what else to do with her. Mr....?" he trailed off, not knowing Rutger's name. "No offense, but we did our job, and she's well. But she can't stay here. It's dangerous to my staff and the patients here."
Then, his human side coming out again, he glanced towards Alana. "How's she doing?"

"I'm Rutger Kilborn," he said briskly, holding out a hand to the Healer. He glanced back at Alana, his eyes softening. "That's my partner, Alana Kalb. She's... well, she'll probably have a rough night, but she should be all right." His eyes flitted over to Danielle, asking for a silent confirmation. Yes, logically, he knew she was going to be fine, but a part of him wouldn't allow himself to believe it until she opened her eyes and spoke to him again.
Rutger sighed tiredly and ran a hand through his hair. It hadn't even occurred to him in the beginning to wonder what they would do with her. Until a few nights ago, he had believed she was human, which, when he thought about it, rather made him doubt his profiling skills. If she was human, she'd obviously have to go to the prison, although he would push for Nurmengard instead of Azkaban, since the German prison didn't use dementors. He could not be around dementors at all... if Alana ever saw how he reacted to them, she would worry more than ever.
Since Kryshna was a vampire, of course, Azkaban was officially out of the equation, much to his relief. The vampire didn't have a soul, which meant that dementors would not be able to hold her anyway. So Nurmengard was the obvious solution... but even for that, there was red tape to go through. With the exception of the attack on Rutger himself, the only crimes he could prove she had done at this point were the last two, which had taken place in England. So the British Ministry took precedence... which meant she had to stay here, at least until he could finish interrogating her.
"I realize that having her here is dangerous. I'm sorry about that, and that any of your staff was injured, even a little. But until I figure out what to do with her, I have no where else to keep her. She can't go to Azkaban. We'll add some Ministry protections on her and on her room, and keep the door outside guarded at all times. No one on your staff needs to attend to her now... No one but myself, Alana, Daniel and Sean should go in that room under any circumstances. She won't get out. And I'll start working on other arrangements for her as soon as I can."
It occurred to him that he hadn't asked the Healer's name in return--Alana was usually the one to insist on the proper introductions in cases like this. "Thanks again for treating her. I didn't get your name...."
