Now Diana was getting irritated. She wouldn't show it now, because there were patients to deal with and help. But she did not need to be bossed around by two different people, one of which doesn't even work at the hospital.
For now, she just rolled her eyes and accioed the Reynold's antidote to her hands. She looked at the vial and frowned, then back at the file.
"This is wrong. The file and the are different. They say the poison is Veritas Agnie, not Vitae Agony."

Rutger was getting ready for a blood transfusion, when Alana called his name. For a moment, everything seemed to stop for him, and he couldn't hear or see anything else. "I'm here, Alana," he called to her. "Just hang on."
He was now being pulled in three different directions, and he didn't know what to do. It was a new and frightening experience for him, because he was used to knowing what to do and taking charge of a situation. But all night, he'd been fighting a battle between logic and emotion. This was why he had shut his emotions down for so long; it was safer this way. Now he was confused and frustrated and wished he could literally split himself in three. He wanted to go to Alana, to hold her hand and tell her that everything was going to be all right. But she needed blood, and she needed the antidote, and he could give her those, but they were in opposite directions.
Surprisingly, it was his heart that won out, and he ran to her, taking her hand in his again. "It's going to be all right," he promised her, although he knew he couldn't really promise that at all. "I know it hurts, but be strong for me, please? I need you..."
Leaning closer to her, whispered something in German. "Holen sie sich gut, mein süßes mädchen. Mein herz gehört dir allein."
Then he straightened up and looked at Danny, then at Diana. He was taking charge again, and he didn't care how annoyed they were at him. His only concern was for Alana. "I will apparate back to my hotel and get the antidote," he said. "It's not far from here, and it won't take me more than five minutes. It's only one dose, but you can take a small sample and analyze it in your lab, to make more. Please prep her for the transfusion, and I will give blood when I come back. After that, I promise to stay out of your way and let you work. Just help her, please. I can't lose her."
He squeezed Alana's hand once more, then rushed out to the lobby, where he apparated.

Danny noticed Diana roll her eyes, and just barely bit her tongue to keep from making a smart comment. Immaturity was nothing something she wanted to deal with in her room with who she considered to be her patient, as assigned by Chase. But she wasn't about to get in a power playing arguement with the other healer, either. Their patient was more important.
When the girl said Rutger's name, Danny actually took a step back, anticipating and letting it happen.
And then, before she could stop him, Rutger was apparated and gone, and Danny let out a soft curse, eyes shifting to Diana. "I know it was the wrong antidote," she said. The Reynold kid died, after all. But if they had been close with it, it could have been easier to make any adjustments according to Rutger. She just hoped whatever he brought back was enough to both sample and analyze, and give to their patient right away.
Without saying another word, or risking more eye rolling from Diana, Danny went about setting up the first ration of blood for Alana, since their supplier wasn't here, and she didn't want to wait to start the drain on Alana.

The moment, if it could be called a moment between them, was interrupted by the sound of Daniel's voice, and before he even got the sentence out, Sean cringed. Knowing Dan well enough, he knew that whatever was going to come out of his brother's mouth, it was going to be teasing.
If he was blushing, he blushed deeper at that question, and out of instinct smacked his brother's arm, giving him a look that said, "I don't care if you're hurt."
His attention went back to Lydia. "I can handle a needle, I think. You're fine," he told her, as if to say that yes, he would still thank her after being poked. "And ah.... ignore him. He's delusional right now."

"It's nice to meet you too Lydia," he said returning her greeting. Daniel didn't hit on Lydia because he knew right off from looking at his brother, Sean had something for her. It was an unwritten rule that Daniel followed. If Sean was interested in a girl, he took a step back. Of course, that didn't mean he wouldn't tease his brother or the girl (if there was a mutual liking).
"Hey now," Daniel said as Sean hit him. He gave Sean a 'what' type of look that caused him to give Sean a light smirk and an eyebrow raise. Sometimes watching Sean and Daniel could be like watching little children, especially in their playful moments. Plus, it really showed how close the brothers really were.
"I am not being delusional right now. I'm never delusional," he proclaimed. "Sean's just being shy and not wanting to admit he was blushing. There's no shame in that Sean." Daniel gave another teasing glance in Sean's direction.

Sean's eyes grew wide as his brother continued to talk.
"Oh my God," the younger Leviner said, positively crimson. "Shut up, please," he said quietly, knowing his brother was getting a kick out of this. He didnt even dare glance at Lydia, but mumbled, "Can you put him under?"

Daniel gave his brother a look that said 'try me'. If Lydia put him under, he would make sure to make it twice as bad for Sean. It took everything Daniel had not to start laughing. Sean's reaction was exactly what he hoped for.
It was completely obvious that Daniel was getting a kick out of the situation at the moment by just the look on his face and his eyes dancing with laughter. "Okay, okay," he said quietly to Sean. "For now." He gave his brother a look then glanced at Lydia then back to Sean.

Lydia couldn't help the smile that spread across her face as she listened to the two of them teasing each other. It made her ache inside a little, as she thought how her sisters used to tease her like that. Sarah, in particular, had been so interested in Lydia's life and had always tried to ask about the boys she knew at Hogwarts.
She finished prepping Sean for the transfusion. "I think your brother is going to be just fine," she assured him as she walked over to Daniel to get him ready. "I'm warning you, no funny business. Never tease the woman with sharp objects in her hands."

Daniel let out a small laugh as Lydia walked over to him. "I know better than that," he said jokingly. In just a few moments of him seeing Lydia, he learned a lot about her. She seemed more reserved, like something happened.
He stretched his arm out so that Lydia could get his arm ready. For a few moments, she seemed at ease, like she was enjoying herself. Daniel would ask Sean about her more seriously later. "I wouldn't want you to stab me somewhere that is not needed."

Diana just turned all of her focus onto Alana. She began cleaning out the wound of infection, that way they wouldn't have to deal with two separate dangers from the wound. She pulled out a Quick Note Quill to start taking notes of everything while she was busy taking care of the patient.
The wound was cleaned out quickly enough. She took a syringe and filled it with a pain killer and injected it into the IV. This should take most of the pain away from Alana, allowing her to relax, making it easier to take care of her. It wasn't strong enough to take all the pain away, but hopefully it would help even a little.
"Her heart rate is too high. We need to bring it down and calm her down."

Lydia gave him a shy smile before she leaned in and began tapping his arm lightly to find a suitable vein. "Smart man," she replied lightly. "You wouldn't want my hand to slip, after all." She found a vein, then tightened a band around his arm and dabbed a little bit of alcohol on his arm before getting out the needle. "Just hold still... it will just be a little pinch."

Danny was as busy around the room as Diana was. She knew they would pull their patient out of this, but it was actually a very serious situation. Even with a painkiller, the pain was going to be unbearable for her, if it was anything like the last one.
Merlin, where was the Auror with his sample? She felt like he'd been gone an eternity, and they already had fresh blood in Alana.
"I can see everything you can," Danny pointed out. "Less talking, more doing, please." It wasn't personal, of course. Danny was just in business mode. They both knew what needed to be done, and she wanted to limit her distractions with unnecessary conversation. She worked best in the quiet, anyway.

Rutger rushed in a moment later, looking as though he might drop from exhaustion at any second. He would have been back sooner, but he had decided to send a quick owl to the Healer who had treated him in Germany after Kryshna had attacked him, to ask for a confirmation of the formula of the antidote. This way no one would need to take a sample from the one dose he had, and he wouldn't have to try remember what was in it and risk forgetting something.
Both of the Healers were busy at the moment, so he simply approached the closest one, holding out a small vial. "This is one dose. I took the liberty of sending a quick message to the Healer in Germany who treated me when I was poisoned with this several months ago... he will send the formula here, so your technicians can replicate it."
This done, Rutger looked back at Alana, who appeared to have lost consciousness again. This was a blessing, he knew. When he had been infected with the poison, the Healers had been forced to sedate him because he was in so much pain. In many ways, Alana was in better shape than he had been. They had the antidote and could give it to her now. They hadn't known what it was when he was poisoned, and he spent several hours in agony, and had nearly died twice while they tried to find an antidote. It was a sheer stroke of luck that one of the Healers had found an ancient text in the library that described the poison and detailed the antidote.
Alana was in better shape, he told himself again. And yet, he couldn't make himself believe it. He was a pessimist by nature, and he always expected the worst. Hope was just a tiny glimmer for him, usually just out of reach. "She has to survive..." he whispered, so quietly that no one probably heard it.
Keeping true to his promise to stay out of the Healers' way, Rutger walked over and sank down onto the chair again, burying his face in his hands.

Diana accepted the vial from Rutger with a quick thank you. She did a quick magical analysis on it to make sure there was nothing innately dangerous within it before she went about setting it up into a drip with the IV. Her focus was on the antidote and healing the wound. She figured the blood transfer would be taken care of by Danny.
Once the drip was finally set up, she focused back on the wound and began to close it up. After the healing, it might leave a bit of a scar, but she was sure that it wouldn’t be anything that would bother the girl too badly.
Diana chanced a glance up at Rutger. The man really did care about this girl. It was nice to see that. She had seen a few people come in that had no one any more. The war with the Death Eaters had caused the hospital to see more and more people coming in with injuries and wounds, or worse.

Danny was still hesitant about that that antidote, but that was just her analytical mind at work. She wished they had time to study it, to figure out what was in it. What if this person the Auror knew didn't get back to them, or any number of other delays? Unfortunately, time was not a luxury they had right now.
When she had a moment, she took a step back, looking at Rutger. "Be honest.... were you hurt? Do you need any help?"
She didn't want to neglect him while they helped the girl, and Merlin knew he looked like the kind of guy who would sacrifice himself like that.

Sean watched all of this with his cheeks still tinged red. Of all the times for Dan to tease him, now was quite possibly the worst. So naturally, he shouldn't have expected any different.
"Smart isn't really a word I would use to describe Dan," Sean murmured, shooting his brother a look, and then a smile at Lydia. "Please, don't be too gentle with him."
He liked the smile she had given Daniel. It wasn;t flirty, just... terribly innocent. It was an unfamiliar feeling in him that he wanted so bad to make her smile all the time. He just had a heartbreaking feeling that she didn't all that often.

Lydia couldn't help the way her smile spread as she listened to Sean talk. She knew, for all his frustration at his brother's teasing, that there was genuine affection there. She had seen how worried Sean was when they first brought Daniel in, and the teasing now was sort of a way of lightening the mood. Just like her own little brother had used to do. Most days, Lydia tried not to think of her family, and all that had been lost. But somehow, today, watching Sean with his brother, the memories didn't hurt quite so much.
"It's fine, Sean," she said, glancing back at him.
She quickly finished setting up the blood transfusion, and while the fresh blood drained into Daniel, Lydia turned to Sean. There was more to be done with Daniel, but for now, she let the blood do its work. Her eyes surveyed him carefully, mentally taking stock of him. He didn't look well to Lydia, but then she had to admit, he usually seemed pale and tired. He rather looked like he had a headache, and she was tempted to reach for a headache potion for him. But instead, she decided to ask him. "OK, now what about you? Do you need anything? Were you hurt?"

Rutger looked up at the woman when he heard her speaking to him. He was a bit surprised to have her attention on him at the moment, but he didn't say anything. Alana seemed to have stabilized, now that the blood transfusion and the antidote were in her system. Sighing, he shook his head tiredly. "No, I'm fine. I promise, I don't have so much as a scratch on me. The creature never touched me. She wouldn't fight me."
It was clear from the way he said these words just how much this frustrated him. He was the one who was supposed to fight her. He was the one who was supposed to get hurt. He had fully expected to be injured, possibly even severely, in this fight. Instead, Alana and Daniel, and even Sean, had all been injured while he walked away completely unscathed. It made him feel... useless, as though he had sacrificed all of them and had done nothing to stop what happened. And it was only because he couldn't do anything. She wouldn't fight him, and any attempts he made to fight her could have resulted in the deaths of Daniel or Alana... or both. Yes, he had caught Kryshna in the end... but what was the cost? The only thing he could feel at all positive about in this situation was that the two intended victims of tonight's attack, Isabella and Voltaire, had also remained unharmed. Those were two lives that he had saved... three, if you counted the child. But it had not been without casualties... and he should have been one of them.
"I could use a headache potion, though, if you have one."

Sean looked up when Lydia addressed him, sort of surprised by it. And it dawned on his just how lucky he was that he wasn't hurt. By all counts, and the way he'd been distracted, he should have been dead. He got a sudden, cold feeling in his gut at the thought, and released a shaky breath, avoiding his brother's eyes when he spoke to Lydia.
"No, I wasn't hurt. I'm fine." He gave her a soft smile, as if to try and convince her of the fact.
If he waited it out, the headache would go away. And part of him wanted to go to his father when this was all over and ask.... for help. He sighed again, rubbing at his eyes with the hand that wasn't hooked up to the needle and such. "Just kind of exhausted, you know?"

Danny was still looking him over to see if she could see any kind of injury. He seemed like the matyring time, and she didn't want to risk overlooking something just because he said he was okay.
But the tone with which he told her the vampire wouldn't fight him was enough to convince her, and her eyes came back up to meet his. She nodded and turned towards a cabinet in the corner, where they kept all the standard potions like that. She came back to him with a headache potion.
"She's going to be fine... maybe you should get some rest?" she offered gently.
