((Please ignore my horribly thread titles))
While at work earlier, Milo realized it had been a long time since he and Daphne sat down and talked. They had been sending letters to each other, keeping each other updated on what was going on, but Milo missed actually talking with her, hearing her voice and seeing her facial expressions. It was something he liked doing every so often, getting out of his house and away from the workplace to visit with people. And today, he chose his friend over his sister.
Milo decided to meet Daphne at Honeydukes, his sweet tooth taking over, and to him, there was nothing better than having some candy and catching up with friends. He sent Daphne an owl saying he would meet her outside of the store, but after getting strange stares from kids around him, he chose to wait inside for her, and was pushed to the back of the store slowly by people filing in. He was waiting by the Cauldron Cakes, hoping she would easily find him there.

Ecstatic was not a strong enough word to describe how Daphne felt receiving an owl from Milo. Usually when she received an owl from him on the weekends meant that she was able to leave school and get away from the work that seemed to sort of imprison her. Of course, she could free herself, completely but she hadn't gained the strength to do that yet.
Quickly reading the note, Daphne jumped from her bed that she had been sitting on, working on revising someone's paper, and dressed as fast as she could. She ran her brush through her hair a few times and left the school without a word to anyone. After all, the only person she really talked to in her room was Heather, but Heather had already gone out.
Reaching Hogsmeade she made her way directly to Honeydukes. Not noticing Milo outside, she walked in to the candy shop and started to look down aisles. Finding him wasn't really an issue. He seemed to stand out from the other Hogwarts students around and Daphne nearly laughed at the realization. Walking up to him, she broke out into a wide smile. "Milo," she said excitedly.

Milo smiled widely when he saw Daphne. He hadn't realized just how long it had been until he saw her walking up to him, but that was normally the case with Milo. Even two weeks was too long for him to be away from someone he really cared about, and since Daphne was one of his closest friends, she fit that criteria.
"Hey, Daph!" He said, matching her smile. He hugged her quickly, earning glares from students around him trying to get to the cakes beside him. "Let's get out of the way..." He said as a larger student eyed him. Milo was so scrawny that the age difference between him and the kid didn't matter. All through school he shyed away from confrontation, and now was no different.
"Do you want anything to eat? I'm buying." He told Daphne as he looked around. He wasn't sure what he wanted, besides the cake. Now that Daphne was here, he would rather talk to her than browse the sweets.

Daphne hugged Milo in return and moved with him to get out of the way of the other students. When she was around the people that she knew very well, which happened to only be Heather and Milo, she was herself completely. Being around other people caused her to shy away. Today, she wasn't going to care about the other people around her, however she hoped that Brenda didn't decide to make a trip to Hogsmeade this weekend. Daphne would never hear the end of her teasing if Brenda saw her with Milo.
"Pumpkin pasties," she said noticing them on the end of the aisle. Daphne grabbed a couple and then nodded toward the counter and started to walk in that direction. "How have you been since the last time I spoke to you? You still don't look like you eat enough," she lightly teased.

Milo laughed at her statement, looking at himself. "Well, I suppose my new job's got me a little stressed, and eating is the last thing I do in that situation." He said. He paused when they got to the counter, asking for one of the fresher cakes behind the counter. He paid, handed Daphne the small bag with her pastries in it, and walked over to the door, holding it open for her. He wanted to find a small table for the two to sit at and talk, close enough to the shop in case they wanted more sweets.
"I've been doing alright, still adjusting to adult life. It was easier when I was living with my mom, but now I have my own apartment and I miss my mom." Milo told her, but he didn't want to spend the whole time going on about his life.
"But what about you? I'm sure my boring adult life won't interest you. How goes the life of a soon-to-be Hogwarts grad? Where are the stories of boys, of final pranks before the year ends?" Milo joked. He knew how shy Daphne was. He would assume she had a boyfriend, but he didn't really think that she would run around jinxing people for fun.

"Oh no, your life has more occurring in it than mine does, trust me." Daphne knew that Milo knew about her 'helping' other students with their homework, but he didn't know that she was still doing it, nor did he know how much she was doing it.
She laughed at the mention of stories of boys. "The boy stories are nonexistant, and final pranks, well I haven't quite figured them all out yet." Part of Daphne really and truely wanted to jinx Brenda but at the moment, she couldn't bring herself to do that. "I'm just ready to get out of school and finally have a chance to relax a little bit, even if it is for a day or two."
Going to Hogsmeade was relaxing, but that was just for a few hours. Of course a few hours was better than nothing, but she didn't want to return to the work she had to do. "Have you learned to cook yet?"

Milo held back a laugh when she said his life was more exciting than hers. He would rather be in school again, where something seemed to be going on at every moment. His life was now filled with trying to get along with his coworkers and making sure he does everything right, and not to mention take-out food almost every night.
That fact caused Milo to chuckle when she asked him about cooking. "I wish I did. My mom tried to teach me before I moved out, but I seemed to burn just about every dish I tried. I survive on take-out and the occasional dinner my mom invites me over for." He said, and shook his head. "Enjoy getting fed at school, because not cooking is expensive."" He said. He had been friends with Daphne for a couple of years, but he never found out if she was able to cook or not.
"Want to come over and teach me one day?" He asked with a laugh.

"I can cook," she said with a shrug. It wasn't a well known fact that she was able to do, but she was able to do fairly well for herself. Of course at school she wasn't really allowed to cook, but during the holidays she had the opportunity. She even cooked Christmas dinner this past year.
A smile crossed Daphne's face as he asked if she could cook. "I might be able to as long as you're willing to concentrate," she said teasingly.

Milo laughed, knowing he was distracted when his mother tried to teach him. He found it slightly boring, so he would go off into his own world until his mother hit him with a spoon to get him back into reality.
"Just keep the shiny things away from me." He said with a wink. "And nothing too overly complicated. I just want to be able to live, not impress the non-existent ladies." The only women who ever went over to his apartment was his mother and his sister Kyla. "Speaking of which, there aren't any guys in your life? Come on, a cute girl like you ought to have someone looking at you!" Milo didn't date much in school, because he was always trying to hook his friends up, and that hadn't changed even now.

"You never know, there could be some girl that comes up unexpectedly. Things like that happen you know, when you least expect it. So you might have to be cooking for someone one day." There was still a teasing tone in her voice.
Without thinking, Daphne pushed her hair back behind one ear at Milo's comment. She shook her head. "No, I'm a little too busy for anyone to look at me. Between school work, classes themselves, and what sleep I can get, there's not really that much time." In fact, Daphne hadn't really thought about boys that often, mainly because her mind was already too preoccupied with doing other people's work. She didn't really have time to think about things like that.

Milo smiled at the thought of having to cook for someone one day. Of course, he didn't think that day would happen soon. He wanted to get married, but he thought he was too young for that now, and trying to keep on top of the bills took over looking for a girlfriend at the moment.
"Aw, don't say that! I'm sure guys look at you all the time!" Milo said with a smile. He paused to eat a piece of his cake, just remembering he had it in front of him. "Are you really working that much, though? Do you need some help? I'm pretty sure the school wouldn't find out if I did some of your work for you, or at least helped you on it."

Again, she shook her head. "No, because no one looks at the person who usually sits off in the corner in the library." Daphne played with the pastery that was in front of her. No, she didn't need help with the school work. She needed help just saying no.
"It's okay," she replied. Daphne had a hard time accepting help since she was always the person giving it. "I'm doing what I can and I'm making it. My grades are still up, so I'm good. You have enough to worry about than to worry about my school work." There was no way that she was going to allow him to help her do work. Daphne would feel guilty if she did ask for help.

Milo knew Daphne wasn't the type of girl that would easily accept help, but he thought he would try and offer it, anyway. "Well, the offer still stands. If you ever fall behind in anything, I'm here." He said. He took a minute to finish his cake, seeming to inhale it rather than chew. It had been far too long since he had one.
"What about the future? Any plans? If you want to work at the Ministry, give me a couple months to get enough people to like me, and I can get you a job." He said with a smile.

In all honesty, Daphne hadn't had time to really think about what she wanted to be once she graduated. "I don't know," she found herself admitting. "I haven't thought much of it to be honest. I thought that I was going to know by now, but I don't." She ran a hand through her hair. Even though the question was supposed to be a light question, it made Daphne realize that she hadn't thought about what she wanted to do and graduation was right around the corner. She was going to have to figure out what she wanted to do, but she didn't even know where to start thinking about what she really wanted.
"I'll have to figure something out sometime," she said picking off a piece of her pastery and eating it. Noticing that Milo's cake was gone, Daphne figured that it would be the best change of topic, considering she didn't want to ponder on her future for too long at the moment.
"My gosh Milo, you think you tasted your cake?" Daphne was teasing him and the smile on her face said so. "I think that has to be a record on eating one of those."

Milo was going to tell Daphne not to worry about not having anything planned for her life after school, but she changed the subject. Even though Milo knew what he wanted to do, some of his friends hadn't and they were making out okay in the real world, for the most part. Milo realized he had probably made her uncomfortable, but he didn't want to apologize and bring the subject up again.
Milo smiled back, staring down at the spot where his cake was. "Yeah...it was a brief blur, only tasted because it is so well-engraved into my head." He said with a laugh. "It's been a while, though. Are your pastries okay? You've barely touched them!" He said, even though with all of the talking, he knew she hardly had time to.

That was one of the things that Daphne liked about Milo, if she changed the subject he didn't go back to it. Of course, she knew that they would probably eventually return to the subject at a later time, but for the moment he was amusing her and going with the change of topic.
"Yeah, my pastries are just fine," she said with a smile. Daphne hadn't realized that she hadn't really ate what was in front of her. As of late, she hadn't been eating a whole lot, but Milo didn't really need to know that either. With the end of the term was coming up in the near future, Daphne had too much to worry about before she could really focus on eating a lot. She picked up the pastery and took a bite out of it, mainly just to please Milo.

Milo smirked as she ate some of her pastry. "I know what you're going through. End of the year coming up, and you can't eat or sleep that well. Plus, your whole life is laid out in front of you..." Milo said, waving his hand out in front of his body while making a whooshing sound. "It's tough." He said.
The only reason he could deal with it was because his mother would write him and send him care packages. Any time he was alone he would start to worry about his future and if he didn't pass the year, and then not only would he be laughed at by all his friends and schoolmates, but his mother and sister would be upset at him. But not Rose, he knew that. She was around to cause trouble and nothing more.
"You know, you should take a Saturday off from working and come visit my house, when my mum makes dinner, help relax you a bit. I'll sneak you away from the school so no one will ever know you're missing. I did it all the time." He said, a proud smile on his face.

One day away from the castel. One day away from not having to worry about school work at all. One day to relax. That whole idea sounded amazing. Of course, Daphne could make sure she did her work first, which she usually did, and then slip off before anyone noticed. She was quiet enough to pull it off and the only person that would miss her would be Heather. She would tell Heather that she was slipping off for the day and no one else.
A smile spread across Daphne's face. "I would like that," she said in an almost shy like voice. "To get away from the castel and everything in it. That sounds like a lovely idea." Daphne was actually ready to get away from school. She was tired of everyone running over her. However, she knew that if she didn't start stepping up and learning to tell people no now, people would run her over at work too. There was something that was going to have to break first, she just didn't know what that was.
"Just owl me to let me know what Saturday so that way I know to get everything done and out of the way so that I don't have anything else to worry about but relaxing that day."

Milo smiled when she agreed. Even though he loved his sister and mother, he would enjoy having someone else in the house for a change. It seemed like his mother's friends stopped coming around slowly, and before he knew it, there were only three at dinner. Sometimes one of Kyla's friends would come around, but it wasn't often enough. He knew his mom would appreciate Milo bringing someone to dinner.
"It should be pretty easy to get away, just meet me here and we can sneak away. It's how I did it." He said, thinking of when Kyla would get him. "How does next weekend sound to you? I still have to check with my mother, of course, but I'm sure she'll be thrilled." He said.
'Thrilled' to his mother was getting Daphne to help in the kitchen, since every time another girl was in the house, no matter who's friend it was, his mother had them help her. Since Daphne didn't mind cooking, Milo didn't think it would be a problem with her.

She wanted to tell Milo everything that was going on at school. She wanted to tell him that Brenda and a few others treated her badly, that she was always doing their work because she didn't know how to say no, but she couldn't bring herself to say any of that. The only person that knew what was going on was Heather. It seemed as of late that Heather seemed to be busy a lot and Daphne didn't really get time to tell her since she was always gone.
Milo's offer sounded like an escape that she really needed. Since Heather was always so busy, Daphne didn't want to take away from her time. The running that Daphne did from time to time didn't seem to last long enough, so Milo's offer sounded like the best option. Plus, she actually looked forward to spending time with her friend.
"Next weekend sounds perfect. I'll make sure that I'm done with everything." The idea of sneaking off from school, sounded amazing to Daphne. Of course she wouldn't really be sneaking away under Dumbledore's nose because he knew everything, but she would be sneaking away from Brenda and those other people like her.
"For the first time, other than this weekend, I have something else to really look forward to. I wish I could just graduate already and figure out whatever I want to do."
