Charms Lesson 1

[Emily Alchemia]

Emily was more than happy to fill in the Charms position. She now had a chance to get out and do something else other than being at the Hog's Head all the time, or sitting at home doing nothing. Emily turned to the blackboard behind her and picked up the piece of chalk and wrote in her neatest handwriting:

Professor Emily Alchemia

She turned to take a seat at her desk, awaiting for the student to arrive.

Why am I always late?! Amy thought to herself. This always happened to her the first week of classes. She ran down the hall and turned into the Charms classroom only to see that she was the first student there.

She stood in the doorway confused for a moment, and then shrugged and took a seat in the second row. "Hello, Professor," she nodded smiling.

[Lily Evans]

Lily hurried into class and took a seat near the front. She glanced around and was relieved to see that James Potter was not there yet. Taking out her books and a quill, she got herself ready for class. Once she was settled, she smiled at the only other student in the room, a red haired girl she didn't recognize, then turned to look at the the professor.

[James Potter]

Right now would be the moment that James would attempt not to look at Lily, nor talk to her. He would do his best and hoped it would work. James walked into the classroom, in his usual casual way, and said 'hello' to the new professor. He didn't even glance towards who was already in the room, knowing that Lily was probably already there. James took a seat in the front row, pulling out parchment, a quill, and his text book.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius headed to Charms class just after James. He was in a pretty good mood, having just put a hex on a first year Slytherin. That always put him in a good mood. Even better, he was pretty sure no one was going to be able to figure out who had done it.

As he walked into the classroom, he was whistling slightly, and he had his hands in his robe pockets, with his backpack slung casually over one shoulder. He looked around and saw Amy, Lily, and James. Unlike his usual embarassing attempts to talk to Lily, James had his back to her and seemed to be ignoring Lily. Sirius grinned. Well, there would be none of that!

Sirius sat down next to James, and in front of Lily. First he turned to Amy. "Hi, Amy," he said. Then he turned to Lily. "And hi, Lily. You're looking lovely today. What do you think, James? Don't you think that hair ribbon really brings out the green in Lily's eyes?"

[James Potter]

James glanced up as Sirius walked in the room. He was whistling, which only meant one thing: something happened to one of the Slytherins. He couldn't help but grin at his friend's whistling. Of course, his grin faded as Sirius spoke of Lily. James was going to ignore Lily as much as he could. It would be a hard task, but he could at least try. There was no way she was going to go out with him, so why try to get her to like him anymore? He just simply gave a short nod to answer Sirius' question, hoping that would satisfy him, however, knowing Sirius, it wouldn't really be a sufficient answer.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius laughed. "Oh, come on now, James, how can you you tell if you don't look at her? I mean really... I've never seen a smiple hair ribbon do so much for a person's appearance. Of course, Lily, you always look good, but... hey! What are you doing? You can't take your robe off in the middle of class... and what are you wearing underneath? I've never seen a skirt that short before..."

[Lily Evans]

"Sirius!" Lily protested. "You know full well I'm not taking off my robe! If James doesn't want to look at me, that's perfectly fine with me. Now really, don't you have someone else to harass?" She opened up her book and pretended to be deeply engrossed in it.

[James Potter]

James glanced to Sirius and narrowed his eyes a little bit at him. He wasn't going to turn around and look at Lily, for he already knew what she looked like when she had a ribbon in her hair, tying it back. He couldn't ever forget what she looked like, anyway she wore her hair. James was about to turn around but quickly thought better of it and ran a hand down his face. Sirius was trying to get him to turn around, and James did everything he could to not turn around.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius grinned. He had to hand it to James, he was sticking to his decision. But he wasn't ready to give up just yet. "Come on, Lily, you know one of us has to harass you, and since James here is apparently trying to be the good one, I guess it's just gonna have to be me. Too bad he doesn't know what you said about him the other day. I bet he'd change his mind if he knew..."

[James Potter]

James grinned at their conversation and shook his head yet again at Sirius. He had to hand it to Sirius, he didn't give up. He began to have an interest in his book cover, that was until Sirius said something about Lily saying something about him the other day. James' head turned towards Sirius with a curious look, waiting for him to tell what she said.

[Severus Snape]

Severus walked into class with his mask perfectly on. Charms, what a frivolous class. So much flicks and swishes. It seemed like the kind of class someone with a flare for the dramatic would do best in the class. He gave it a thought as he sat down silently. He had flare, but it wasn't showy.

[Lily Evans]

"Sirius Black!" Lily said sternly. "I have no idea what you're talking about. I never said any such thing, and you know it!" Furiously, she turned to Severus, who had just walked in the room. "Hello, Severus. How are you today?"

[Sirius Black]

Sirius frowned as Lily turned away from him and began talking to Snape. "Aw, Lily, you're no fun. Why do you want to talk to that greaseball, anyway? I thought we were having a nice conversation. I even told you that you looked pretty today. What more do you want from me?"

[Remus Lupin]

Remus was running a little late as he rushed into the classroom. As he got there, he was surprised to realize that he wasn't as late as he'd thought. There were only a few other students in the room. Immediately he noticed James and Sirius, as well as Lily and Snape. There was also another girl that he thought he recognized from another class. Smiling, he walked over and sat down on the other side of James. "Hey, guys, what's going on?" he asked cheerfully.

[James Potter]

James looked up to Sirius and shook his head yet again. He wasn't really sure what Sirius was up to, other than maybe trying to get him to look at Lily. He turned his attention from Sirius to Remus. "Hey Remus," said James with a grin. "Nothing really, just listening to Sirius talk. What about you Remus?"

[Remus Lupin]

Remus grinned. "Nothing much, I guess. Just had a little trouble getting up this morning." He looked past James to Sirius. "So you were just talking? What about? Planning something sneaky?"

[Sirius Black]

"Me? Sneaky?" Sirius repeated, putting on an innocent air. "Honestly, Remus, I'm hurt. I am never sneaky. Look at this face. Don't I look honest? What do you think, Lily? I'm not sneaky, am I?"

[Lily Evans]

"Don't you try to drag me into this, Sirius Black," Lily said sternly. "And yes, you are sneaky. And arrogant. And obnoxious. And I don't know why you keep talking to me, when you know I don't like you."

[Remus Lupin]

Remus laughed. "Sirius, I think you've just been burned," he said. He turned and looked at Lily, who looked extremely annoyed. Then he noticed something odd. James, who usually took any excuse to look at Lily, was sitting resolutely in his seat, facing the front of the room as if Lily hadn't spoken. Remus narrowed his eyes. That was very odd...
