Henri nodded. He looked to the guard and quickly explained the situation to him. The guard knew who he was and let them through. He kept a hold onto Aurelia knowing how tired she was. Hopefully Aurelia would make it until they got back to her place. He knew that she was too tired but she was too stubborn to rest. She wasn't really going to really help Dani if she was tired but he wasn't going to dare tell her that. Henri was almost in the same boat of tiredness and he wasn't really going to rest either.
As they were walking to Dumbledore's office Henri kept an eye on Aurelia to make sure she was okay. He didn't want her tripping over herself so he made sure that he kept his arm around her waist for support. Arriving at his office, he looked to her and then knocked on Dumbledore's door.

As it happened, Albus Dumbledore was in his office speaking to one of his students. The girl, a first year Gryffindor, had gone to her head of house to report a fellow student for, as she called it, "sneaking out without permission." Professor McGonagall had originally discounted the girl's story as an attempt to get the other girl in trouble, but reported it to the Headmaster as a precaution. Now the girl was sitting in his office, telling her story in the high-pitched, breathless way that only an 11-year-old girl could.
Albus was concerned, because to his knowledge, Danica Krisova's mother had not, in fact, come to pick the girl up, and he had not received any messages from her that she intended to do so.
Nevertheless, when he heard the knock on his door, he was somewhat relieved to have a break from the girl's over-exaggerated manner. Rather than make them say the password, he simply pointed his wand down at the door, causing it to swing open.

Lulu was a bit put out that Professor Dumbledore was inviting someone else into his office while he was talking to her. This was important, after all, wasn't it? Danica couldn't just go walking out of the school whenever she wanted to. It wasn't fair. She spent most weekends at home, while Lulu was stuck at school even on holidays. She was almost beginning to wonder if her parents were even going to remember to pick her up at the end of the school year, or if she would wind up sitting at King's Cross Station, alone and forgotten. Or maybe they'd both show up and end up fighting with each other over which one was the better parent and had the bigger presents.
"But Professor," she said again, trying to get the Headmaster to pay attention to her and not the people coming up the stairs. "You are going to punish her, right? I mean, she lied, and she just walked out and she broke curfew and she's always moving her stupid bed away from the window and it totally messes with the space in the room."

Walking up the winding staircase to the actual office was not easy for Aurelia in her current state. She was honestly wondering just how much longer her legs would continue to hold her up. And yet, she didn't care. She would keep on going as long as she had to. She needed to find Dani and she didn't care what it took.
When they got there, there was another little girl talking to Dumbledore. She was speaking very fast and, it seemed, she was not making a lot of sense. Until the last part when she said something about "always moving her bed away from the window."
And Aurelia lost it. She broke free from Henri's grasp and rushed toward the girl. "You're the one? The girl who's always fighting with Dani about moving her bed?"

Before Henri could even greet Dumbledore, Aurelia broke free of his grasp. Moving quickly, he tried to pull Aurelia to him, away from the girl. He knew that right now was not a good time to have this conversation.
"Aurelia," Henri said in a hushed tone attempting to calm her down. "Maintenant n'est pas vraiment le temps," he added in a very light whisper unsure if she heard him or not. The glance toward Dumbledore was an apologic one.

So this was Dani's mother. Lulu's jealousy of Danica increased. Not only was she really pretty and tall, but she also cared enough about what was going on with her daughter to know that she had a roommate that she fought with. Lulu was pretty sure that her mother didn't even know what color her eyes were.
"It looks stupid where she moves it!" she yelled defensively. "She always gets the older girls to move it for her and it looks stupid and ugly! And then she just walks out of the common room like she's allowed to just come and go whenever she pleases. Isn't she supposed to be with you now? Bet she lied about that, didn't she?"

Horrible little girl. Her spiteful attitude and pettiness reminded her of Pavel when he was younger. And if Aurelia wasn't so worried about Dani, she would have taken it up further with the girl. She didn't even really hear Henri's comment, but she did hear what the girl had to say, and the panic began to rise up in Aurelia all over again. Her legs gave out on her and she sank into a nearby chair.
"She... she said she was going to be with me?" She whispered. "Did she say anything else?"

It was at this point where Dumbledore decided to step in. Clearly, if Dani's mother was here, there was something very wrong.
"Ms. Krizova, this is Tallulah Starbuck. She is your daughter's roommate, and she had just come to me to report that Danica left earlier this evening stating that she was going to be picked up by you. But neither I, nor Professor McGonagall received any notice from you about picking her up... and seeing as you're here now and Danica is not, I take it that this was not in fact the case?"

Henri followed Aurelia over to the chair. Everything was spinning in Henri's head. Dani didn't really tell anyone where she was going, she just left the school and she was at Ambrosia. Was she going to surprise her mother? What exactly was she doing there? Everything was spinning in his mind and he almost forgot to use English.
"Oui," he responded for Aurelia. "Yes. Dani was at Ambrosia tonight. Whenever I arrived, I was there a few seconds too late because there was the Mark there. It was chaos but no one was hurt, only Dani was missing. Her cloak was left and Aurelia found her wand in the street." Henri finally took a breath and looked at Dumbledore. "The only thing that happened was someone took her."

Lulu's mouth dropped open as she listened to the man speak--was he Dani's father? She had always thought that Dani didn't have a father. But any questions she had about that seemed forgotten when she heard what he was saying. The Dark Mark? Someone took her? So that meant someone had kidnapped Dani? Someone like those people who had started the attack in Hogsmeade?
This was scary, and too real. Lulu didn't know what to say. As much as she wanted to be mad, she didn't really want Dani to be hurt, either.

Aurelia really couldn't speak. Hearing what the girl and Professor Dumbledore had to say was too much for her and she broke down. There had been a tiny part of her that had been holding out the desperate hope that Dani had actually stayed at school and was fine, or that she had been at Ambrosia and had just run out in fear, leaving her cloak and wand behind, and had made her way back here to school. But clearly this was not the case. She was not here... which meant that she really had been taken by someone.
She curled up in the chair, pulling her legs up so that she was in a fetal position, and pressed her face against her legs as she broke down crying. Dani had come to Ambrosia, hoping to surprise her. She had innocently hoped to spy on her with Henri, or maybe just ask about the date they'd had earlier in the day. And instead, someone had taken her, and Aurelia hadn't even known she was there. She had failed her daughter.

Dumbledore frowned deeply. This was a very serious situation, and he was going to have to take steps to tighten security at the school. He couldn't have students just walking out unescorted and getting into trouble. Someone had failed to notice that this little girl was doing something dangerous and now she was in terrible danger.
"I am very sorry for what has happened, and I will speak to the staff about increasing security to make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen again. And I'll also see if anyone saw her leaving or if they might have any idea who might have taken her. Ms. Krizova, we will do everything we possibly can to help find your daughter. I assume you have already contacted the Ministry about what happened?"
This last question was directed to Henri, because Aurelia was clearly beyond the ability to answer him right now.

Henri wished that he could pick Aurelia up and magically find Dani to make everything okay. He didn't know what he could do for her and it was going to drive him insane. Whoever took Dani was going to pay for kidnapping her, even if it was Pavel. Henri was going to try to see to it.
"Sean Leviner from the MLE knows," he replied moving his eyes from Aurelia's curled up form. "He's starting a search for Dani. There has not really been any clues as to where she was taken." Henri swallowed hard and his eyes glazed over for a moment. "Nous ne savons pas où commencer à la chercher," he said slipping back into his french. He shook his head. Now was not the time to start going down, he had to stay strong for both Aurelia and Dani.

Dumbledore felt terrible about this situation. He had no idea who could have taken the girl or why, but he did know that she would have been safe if she had stayed in the school. Instead, she had been allowed to wander out of it and now she was gone. It was very worrying.
"Good," he said, nodding to Henri, although of course there was nothing good about this situation. But if the MLE was searching for her, that was something good, at least. "Sean Leviner is a good man. I know he will do everything in his power to find your daughter. I will do what I can from here, as well, Ms. Krizova."
He turned to Henri again. "She should rest. Take her down to Madam Pomfrey; she can give you something that will relax her. She's not going to do Danica any good in this condition."

"Merci Dumbledore," he said as he looked to Aurelia. Henri was going to have to do what he could to keep Aurelia in good health and remain strong for her. Of course he had only spoke to Dani a few times but he personally felt like something was missing. Maybe it was just because she was Aurelia's daughter.
"J'irai faire," he answered again but he shook his head when he forgot to speak English. "I will." Henri walked over to Aurelia and moved his arms out. "Would you like me to carry you," he asked her softly.

Albus sighed heavily. Even if this particular incident was not related to the Death Eaters, it was still very troubling indeed. This year, as well as the year before it, had been a long and tragedy-filled one. And he feared that things would only be getting worse as Lord Voldemort grew in power. Something was going to have to be done.
He stood up and walked over to Tallulah, whose eyes were round in shock. She had come here intending to get a classmate in trouble, and instead discovered that the girl was in far greater trouble than she could have imagined. "Come along, miss Starbuck," he told the girl. "Allow me to walk you back to Gryffindor Tower. You shouldn't be wandering the halls after hours, or Mr. Filch will be most displeased."
"I wish you both the best of luck," he said, looking to Henri and Aurelia. "I will do what I can to help, and hopefully she will be returned safe and sound very soon."
With that, he led the little girl out of the room and was gone.

Aurelia was really quite beyond talking at this point. She was crying pretty hysterically, and she couldn't seem to calm down. Dani was her every thought, and she wasn't even aware of the other people in the room anymore. If Henri wanted to carry her, he would have no trouble doing so, as she was unable to fight him. For the time being, at least, she was just gone. Her heart and mind were with Dani.
(Yeah, you're gonna have to carry her....)

It was hard seeing her in the state she was in and not being really able to be much help her get better. The only thing he could do at the moment was carry her to the hospital wing. Without another word, Henri picked Aurelia up carefully and started to carry her out of Dumbledore's office and toward the hosptial wing.
He was going to stay with her overnight at the hospital wing while he tried to figure out something. Walking into the hospital wing, Henri made his way over to Madam Pomfrey's office to tell her what he needed.

Later on, Aurelia would feel terrible that she had panicked so completely that she had been essentially useless to her daughter. But the truth was, she needed this. She needed to break down so that she could get past it and come out on the other side stronger and more able to face whatever else might come her way.
She lay limply in his arms, tears streaming down her face, as he carried her to the hospital wing. Right now, her heart was with her daughter and she couldn't think about anything else.

Once he spoke to Madam Pomfrey, Henri carried Aurelia over to one of the beds. He knew that he wasn't going to leave her there alone tonight. If she woke up in the middle of the night or something, he would feel horrible if he wasn't there to see if she needed anything.
Henri laid Aurelia on one of the beds carefully. "Il va être parfait," he whispered as he reached up to wipe away her tears. He hoped everything was going to be okay. He didn't know what was going to happen but he did know a good rest for Aurelia was going to be the best thing for the time.
The only way that they could get her to rest would be a potion. Once it was ready, he took it and brought it to Aurelia's lips, "Buvez-le," he said softly. After she drank it, Henri would make sure he stayed there with her, even if that meant he didn't sleep.
