While Riley was off visiting Geoffrey to break the news to him, Roland felt it was a good idea to stay far away from his cousin. Both he and Riley were aware that Geoffrey was not likely to be jumping for joy over the news, and it seemed wise that Riley do it alone.
But until they could decide how to tell the rest of his family, Roland was positively itching to tell someone. They had both decided that Amandine would be the best person, simply because she was good at keeping secrets, and because she was sure to react happily to the news. Roland rather wished that Riley could have been with him when he told his sister, just because he already knew that she would not have an easy time telling Geoffrey.
He owled Ama and arranged to meet her at the Great Hall to take her out to lunch at the Hot Panini, then headed over to the school.

Amandine was studying in the common room, well, only half studying. the other part of her brain was wondering what she was going to do with the rest of the day. She considered going to talk to jamie, but even though they were on speeking terms again, she had a feeling something was off with him.
But before she could decide where to find Jamie, an Owl flew through the open window and landed on her arm rest. "Oh, hello," Ama said, talking the letter attached to the owl and petting it gently for a bit before it flew away. She quickly read Roland's note and smiled excitedly. She ran up to her room, dropped off her school books, and then rushed to the Great hall to wait for Roland to pick her up.

Roland arrived exactly on time, as he usually did. He apparated to the edge of the Hogwarts grounds and made his way quickly up to the castle. The weather was quite warm, and it definitely seemed like a good day to be outside. Hopefully Amandine wasn’t busy today, because he was really looking forward to seeing her and telling her the good news.
When he finally reached the castle, he went inside and went to the Great Hall to meet with Ama. As he had hoped, she was already there waiting for him, and he broke into a smile at the sight of her.
“Hey, Ama,” he said as he walked up to her. “How are you doing? I hope I’m not keeping you from anything.”

Ama figured her brother would be on time. He and Jamie were a lot alike that way. "Roland!" Ama ran over to her brother the second she saw him and hugged him tight. Ever since Roland died and then un-died, Ama had decided to become closer to her family, especially her brothers. She began writing them more often, and, would Jamie would let her because he had been so preoccupied lately, she would spend time with him too. Ama knew now to cherish every moment she had with her family.
"I'm doing good," Ama said. "And no, I wasn't doing anythign, everyone seems to be out doing something today, so I was just studying," she smiled. "I'd much rather hang out with you, where are we going?"

Merlin, it was good to see her. With the rest of his family, it seemed there were all so many issues that were still unresolved. His parents were back in the same house, but he had a feeling they still weren't "back together." Hayden still seemed a little off, and Cyrus was making wedding plans while Jamie tried tried to make preparations for his future with Scarlett and their baby. So much was happening so fast, that it was good to see that Ama was the same as she'd ever been--bright and enthusiastic and full of energy. He needed that right now.
He hugged her tightly, and pressed a quick kiss on her cheek. "It's good to see you, Ama," he said. "I was thinking we could go to the Hot Panini. And I have some news to tell you, but we'll wait until we get there, OK?"

She held him tight for a while before letting him go. "Sounds like fun," Amandine said. "I haven't been to Hogsmeade since having to find a dress for the Yule Ball," after she mentioned the ball, she bit her lip. She knew there was nothing she could have done, and in the end, Roland was still alive and well and happy, but she couldn't help but feel guilty that she was out, having fun at a dance, and Roland had gone and "died".
Two seconds later she was smiling again, it was all behind her. "What's the news?" she asked immediatly. "Is everything okay? It's not bad news is it?"

Roland heard the way her voice seemed to falter when she mentioned the Yule Ball, and he felt another pang of guilt. If he had remembered at the time that the Yule Ball would be that night, he probably would not have gone to face Blake that night. Now, he realized that her memory of that night was tainted by the news of his "death" that she had received that morning.
For the hundredth time, he wished he could have found another way to get rid of Blake and the others. He had convinced himself that he had everything all thought out at the time... but he now realized that he'd never thought of all the consequences. In trying to protect his family from harm, he had probably hurt them more than Blake could have done. It was a bitter pill to swallow.
"You'll have to tell me about the ball," he said, a sad tone to his voice. "I hope you had a good time that night."
He pulled back and squeezed her hand reassuringly, reminding her yet again that he was alive and well and that she didn't need to feel sad anymore. "And I'll tell you the news when we get there. But I promise you, it's good news. It's very good."

"The dance was fun, I had a good time. I even had a date," she smiled, wondering how Roland would react to that in comparason to Jamie's reaction. She had a feeling that it was simply a rule of big brothers to not like guys that hung around their sisters. Roland's death didn't ruin all of her memories of the ball, it was more of just the general event.
"Oh good, I'm glad it's good news," Ama said. "How Riley?" she asked curiously.

"I know, Jamie told me," he said, his smile turning mischievous. "I hope the boy was a gentleman and kept his hands off of you, because otherwise, I'm coming after him."
Once again, it occurred to him what a difficult position Ama was in. She was the youngest, and the only girl, and now all three of her older brothers had gone and gotten their girlfriends pregnant without waiting until they were married. Even if Roland thought his situation was different from Cyrus and Jamie, the fact remained that Riley was pregnant, and they were only engaged, not married. Once the news got out about Jamie, Roland imagined that there would be a lot of pressure on Ama not to repeat her brothers' mistake.
As usual, when Riley's name was mentioned, Roland's whole face seemed to light up. "She's wonderful," he said, smiling. "She's doing great... she went to see Geoffrey."

"Dillon was very sweet," Ama said with a smile, "No need to get the Ferrera Mafia after him," she laughed. He was already pretty scared when Jamie talked to him. She couldn't imagine how he would react to another "talk" with another brother.
She grinned when she saw Roland's face light up at the mention of Riley. She was so happy to see Roland truely happy. "That's good," she said. "How's the baby?" she asked excitedly. Ama was looking forward to a new baby in the family.

Little did she know, but there were actually about to be two more babies in the family. Roland hoped that Jamie would confide in Ama very soon, but until she did, he would have to continue to keep one more secret from her. That was one reason why he wanted her to be the first person in the family to know about the engagement; so that she would be able to have at least one secret from the rest of the family for a while. Besides, he was looking forward to seeing the look on her face when he told her.
They had started walking and were already halfway across the grounds, having just passed the Whomping Willow. "The baby's fine. Riley has an appointment with the doctor next week to check on it, but she hasn't had any problems. She's not showing yet, but it should be soon. We've been trying to come up with names for it... we think it's going to be a girl."

Amandine jumped up and down in joy, clapping her hands together. "Oh yay a baby girl!" she said excitedly. Her life was, for the most part, surrounded by guys, with really just Sheena and her mother as her clostest female friends. So she was happy that, with Mara and possibly Roland and Riley's new baby, there would definatly be more femine presence in the Ferrera Family.
They reached the entrance to Hogsmeade and Ama was still filled with excitement. "I'm so glad to see you Roland," she said, hugging him as they continued walking to the Hot Panini.

"Well, we're not sure yet, but it's just a feeling we have," Roland said. "It might be a little while longer before we can know for sure, but we keep saying 'her.'"
He shook his head, still sort of shocked that all of this was happening. A year ago, if someone had told him that he would be engaged to marry the love of his life and about to be come a father, he would have laughed at them. And now, this was his life. And he wouldn't change a thing.
"I'm glad to see you, kid," he teased, rumpling her hair. "Maybe Riley and I should have you over for dinner one night. Would you believe I'm even starting to learn how to cook? I'm nowhere near as good as Mum, but I've actually made a few things that are edible."

"Well I think it will be a girl too," Now Ama was determined to think that the baby is going to be a girl.
"I'm glad things are going good for you Roland," Ama said after a bit. "Like, Riley and the baby and all that stuff, it's good, you're happy." She looped her arm around his and smiled at him brightly.
"Hey!" she giggled, fixing her hair. "I'd LOVE to come for dinner, beats Hogwarts food every night. Sometimes, i truely miss Mum's home cooked meals." Then she looked at him in shock. "You?! Cooking?! Now you HAVE to have me for dinner, I won't believe it 'till I see it!"

Roland laughed. "Don't get too excited," he said. "I can't promise that my cooking is going to be a step up from the school.... I really can only make scrambled eggs and pasta. But I'm learning... Riley's been a good influence on me."
They had finally arrived at the Hot Panini, and he opened the door to let her in first. "Anyway, I'll have to talk to Riley and figure out when would be a good night to do it, but I would love to have you over for dinner. You have to meet our dog.... you'll love him."

"She has been a good influence on you," Amandine agreed. "Even when you two hated each other, I still thought she would be good for you," Ama smiled at Roland. Ever since she met Riley at Christmas and made the two of them kiss under the mistletoe, Ama knew that those two had something good going for them.
"You have a dog?" Ama asked incredulously. "thats so cute, what kind is it? What's its name?" Ama loved animals. All kinds. "Remember my bunny rabbit? Twitchy!" Ama smiled at the thought. Oh she loved that thing, it tore her apart when it died a few years ago. It had always been something ama shared with Roland, their love for animals.

"You know, I'm not sure we ever actually hated each other," Roland said. "We just didn't understand each other. It took us a while to figure each other out, that's all. And we needed to learn how to communicate."
He was becoming convinced that he had probably always liked Riley more than he wanted to admit, and that it was primarily those feelings that had made him act the way he had whenever she was around. He had been tense for a lot of reasons then, and his feelings for her had been a part of that. Once he had admitted to himself that he liked her, things had started to change for the better.
"It's funny you mention Twitchy," he continued as he led her over to a table near the window. "I was talking to Riley about him the other night. I think you'll really like our dog. His name is Phoenix, and he's a German Shepherd. He's growing pretty fast, but he's still a puppy."

Ama didn't really get what Roland meant. From what she saw, those two were at one point, ready to rip each other's heart out. Now they couldn't get enough of each other. She simply smiled at Roland. Whatever he wanted to call it, he was happy, which meant Amandine was happy.
All she ever really wants for her family is that they're happy. Roland's happy with Riley and they're having a baby. Cyrus was happy with Lena and they have a baby. Her mother is always happy with her father. Jamie seemd happy with Scarlette. Yes, all was well in Ama's opinion.
"Oh that's so cute!" Ama said. "I can't wait to meet Phoenix! And see Riley again."
They reached the resturant and Ama headed straight to one of the taller tables where she could sit in the chair and have her feet hang.

Roland was still smiling as he sat down across from her. It was amazing how much of a change had come over him since he had fallen in love with Riley. He smiled all the time now, and the effect made him appear younger, closer to his own age.
Picking up the menu, he told her, "You can order whatever you want, OK? It's on me. Once we've ordered, I'll tell you the good news."

Ama swung her feet back and forth childishly for a moment or two before tucking one foot behind the other and opening her menu. 14 was such a difficult age; she wasn't ready to be all grown p and responsible like her brother, but she was beyond the little girl who would wear tutu's and chase her father around the house and wait by the window for letter's from her brothers from school. She was still just transitioning into growing up, and she had done a lot of that in her eldest brother's absence.
"Whatever I want huh?" Ama asked with a wide grin. "Can I have...and ice cream sunday?" she asked, testing if she could really have whatever she wanted.
