Seeing Marcy's pout make him want to stay longer, but Noah knew he couldn't. Emma and Todd would get there and get upset if he wasn't already there waiting on him. Noah had been through that one before.
Before he could sigh, Marcy made him laugh and reached out to shake her hand. "I'm glad that I could crash into someone so nice, and I'm more than positive you will be seeing me really soon." Noah smiled. "I do thank you again for drawing for me. I'll have to make sure to find a way to pay you for that." Noah didn't want to go, but the hands on the clock were telling him he had to. "I'll see you in the morning Marcy."

Marcy shook her head quickly. "No, no... that's not necessary. I don't need payment for it. Unless..." Her eyes lit up as an idea occurred to her. She was feeling bold again.
"You could take me out to dinner," she said. "I would take that as payment enough. What do you think? I'm available on Friday night...."
Anita would be shocked at her boldness, but Noah seemed to like it. And really, why should a girl be afraid to ask for what she wanted, anyway?

"You're one step ahead of me," Noah said jokingly. He smiled. "I was planning on asking you to dinner on Friday when I got to work tomorrow, but since I already know the answer to the question, I would love to take you to dinner on Friday." Noah had never met a girl so bold before but he did like it. Marcy was cute and funny, so her boldness didn't bother him. It wasn't like she was literally throwing herself at him.
"I could come get you around six on Friday? I'll figure out a place to take you and leave it a surprise until we get there. Are there any allergies or anything like that I should take into consideration?"

Marcy grinned brightly. All those times in the past when she waited for guys to ask her out, she had been an idiot. Even though Marcy hated her mother, she had to admit that she'd been right about one thing--she'd always said that a woman should never be afraid to ask for what she wants. Of course, she had also followed this statement with "and if she doesn't get the answer she's hoping for, she shouldn't hesitate to take it anyway." Marcy wasn't sure about the latter part of it, but the first part, she could definitely get behind.
"That sounds fantastic!" she said, clasping her hands together. "And I'm glad we were thinking the same thoughts.... sorry I beat you to it. I don't have any allergies, so anything is good. I love to be surprised."

"Good," he said. Asking her on a date was easy enough. Noah thought that they were getting along famously and thought that they would continue to be that way. They already worked together in a way. Marcy wasn't one of those quiet, shy girls. Even if she was, Noah wouldn't have minded. She was nice enough and it wasn't many people who were willing to go for ice cream after they bumped into someone.
"I'll make sure that you're surprised." Noah knew that he was going to have to go back home and figure out where he wanted to take Marcy. He was going to have to keep it a secret until Friday. "So, I'll see you tomorrow." He smiled again.

Ultimately, Marcy didn't really care where they went. She was just excited about the prospect of seeing him again, and spending time with him. It was rare to find someone that one could feel so connected with in such a short time, but it felt like she and Noah had known each other for a very long time. Who was she to argue with that kind of chemistry? It felt a little like fate.
"Well, now I'm going to be anxiously looking forward to Friday," she said, grinning at him. "Which means the week is just going to drag on forever. But it's good, because at least I know there's a reward coming."
She held out her hand for him to shake. "It was a pleasure getting crashed into by you," she said. "And I'll see you tomorrow."

Noah laughed as he placed his hand in hers to shake. "It was a pleasure crashing into you." He was actually looking forward to something else other than reading to the children. That hadn't happened, ever.
"The week will probably drag on, but the good thing to help keep your anxiety down is that you get to see me every morning before work." Noah winked at her and then squeezed her hand before letting it go. "Can't wait until tomorrow morning."

Marcy kept smiling, but she really was reluctant to let this end. Sure, they would see each other again... at work, and definitely on Friday. And of course, she would need to finish those drawings for him. But what if it was one of those things that seemed so perfect the first time, and then later, the magic was somehow gone? Was it silly of her to even think of such a thing?
When he squeezed her hand, she was tempted to pull him closer for a kiss, but she decided that would be too aggressive. So far they were just friends, and she didn't want to ruin anything by trying to move too fast. No... she had to let this happen naturally.
"I can't wait, either. I may just go stop by the candy shop to stock up my candy dish just for you," she added with a wink. "I'll see you tomorrow."
