Kendra looked timid as she approach the stool, but her steps were still graceful and controlled. She was nervous, but the thoughts running through her head were whether or not she would fit in, whatever house she was placed in. Would her housemates like her? Would she have a hard time making friends? How was she supposed to do this alone?
Taking a deep breath, she flashed a smile as the hat was dropped over her eyes.

Connor practically had a swagger as he walked up to the stool with the hat on it. If he was nervous at all, he didn't show it. In fact, he was smirking and he gave the girl next to him a wink as he finally passed all the students and sat down.
Casting a glance around the great hall, he sized up his competition and the prospects of girls. Hogwarts knew how to pick them, that was for sure.
The hat was placed on his wasted, and deliberated for only seconds before it declared its answer.

Marco hobbled up to the stool that held the sorting hat. He was just stepping up to it when he stumbled slightly. He was definitely thinking that jumping off the roof was a bad idea. His first month at school shouldn't be spent with a broken ankle. He turned and threw a thumbs up at his cousin Logan, who was sporting a broken arm.
He sat down on the stool clumsily and smiled. His first adventure at Hogwarts was trying to make it to the stool. He snorted to himself. This was going to be fun.

I'm tempted to put you in Gryffindor instead, but I'll go with Hufflepuff. We always need more Hufflepuffs.

Amira hadn't heard her name being called, standing very conservatively with her head bowed. It was only until she could feel a few pairs of eyes on her that she looked up. It was assumed that it was her turn, and she walked up without any emotion. The sounds around her were getting louder and quieter, thanks to her hearing problem. It was like a wave of voices were constantly barraging her.
Amira sat on the stool, looking at all the eyes on her.

Bryce stood in line watching as the other kids were called up to be sorted. The process seemed easy enough, just sit on the stool and put on the hat and it would tell you what house you were in. But really, the whole ceremony, the pomp and circumstance of it all just seemed kind of silly. It wasn't just the fact that their academic future was apparently being decided by a talking hat. It was also the self-important nature of the sorting in general. Like the idea that what house you were in really meant anything in the long run.
As a particularly small girl went up to be sorted, Bryce couldn't help himself and he turned to the kid behind him. "What happens if the hat doesn't fit?" he asked. "Are you rejected completely due to your head being too small?"
The girl was not rejected and was sorted into Ravenclaw. Bryce mimicked the sound of the hat's voice, causing laughter among his fellow students. But shortly after that, his own name was called, and he stepped forward to be sorted. As he approached the stool, he picked up the hat and looked out at the rest of the students in the Great Hall. He only just barely bit back a joking comment as he climbed up on the stool and placed the hat on his head.

Cara walked up slowly to the line. She must preferred to be the one in the shadows, not up here. Cara checked that her robes were all smooth, the last thing she needed was to give the newbies a bad show. She looked at the all the teachers in front of her trying to gage which one of them would serve her needs, which ones would make her great. She never was one for patience. She never had to wait for anything, she wanted something she took it. The idea of being patient was beyond her, The last thing she wanted to do was make a scene. She had to fool them all. They had to think she was just another no body, a bubbly little girl. She wondered if the hat could see through that, see how evil she really was? She looked disdainfully at the raggedy hat that would decide her future. She hoped it didn't have any diseases in it. She never saw something that filthy, that vile. How would a hat like that know her? What it can see memories or intentions? wouldn't that be a useful little toy to see who really is a Death Eater? To see how is really faithful. Enjoy of those thoughts, they might read them. Who knows what the teachers can really do she thought. How could that read her soul. This hat thing was ridiculous really but Hogwarts was just a means to an end as far as she was concerned. She wouldn't be here much longer, surely she could endure a hat on her head. She took a look at the student body around her, there seemed to be more first years her than she thought. She smiled as she stepped forward in the line, the peons wouldn't know what hit them once she was sorted. They'd all know her name then, everyone would. She'd show them all. Hmm.. two Hufflepuffs before her, great of all the people, she gets the do-gooders. rolling her eyes she looks back at the hat with even more disdain. Cara is quite bored with the whole thing. She just wishes she could run up there, push everyone else away and finally get it over with. She could take out her wand and have a little fun she thinks when they call her name. This whole idea of a ceremony and rules. Please Cara doesn't follow rules, she does whatever she wants, whenever.

Rose took a few steps tentatively, Hogwarts was more than she ever could have expected and suddenly she was feeling very overwhelmed. It was the first itme in her life where she didn't feel completely confident in what she was doing, it was the first time in her life that she was actually afraid of being in front of people, having them watch her.
She knew about the ceremony, she knew she was going to be placed in one of four houses and she wondered which she would get placed in. She worried, but then took a deep breath and a forward march. Anyone who was watching the little girl might have noticed the stubborn tilt of her chin, she was afraid yes, but she wasn't going to let anybody know that. Suddenly getting to that stool, and getting put into a house became a challenge, it all was a challenge to her, and Rose never backed down from one of those.
Sitting on the stool she allowed the hat to be placed on her head and thought to herself, "Do your worst."

Ruby took slow shaking steps up to the stool. "But one foot in front of the other" she thought. She was proud she was going to Hgwarts but now all this presure was more than she could handle. She was nervous and she quickly wiped her hands on the robe. All her family had been in Ravenclaw but she decided not to ask hat.
Then Ruby approaced the hat. She sat down on the stool waiting there quitely for her fait to be determined. It was the scariest thing she had done in her life so far. The last thing she saw before the hat came down on her eyes was the crown of Hogwarts, the older ones not really paying attention and the ones about to be sorted quaking like she was.

Lola was barely even paying attention to the sorting ceremony. It looked easy, anyway, and she was never going to remember who was placed where by the hat. She'd have to get to know people on her own.
A charming boy who wore a green tie (and swore that he was going to be put in Slytherin) was talking with her, or rather, they were whispering to each other. Once, she almost laughed out loud, and she covered her mouth with her hand to stop herself from interrupting the ceremony. While a detention might be fun, it might also be a bad way to start off the year.
When her name was finally called, she kissed the future slytherin boy on the cheek and strode up to the stool, confidently pulling the hat over her eyes and waiting for it's verdict.

Sarah walked toward the stool, sighing. She had so much fear and tension. "Just get this over with" she thought. The wait had been agonizing. Sarah had tried telling herself she dodn't care, but she did care. And she could not hide it any longer.
Sarah's stomach twisted inside her as the hat was placed on the head, blocking out all veiw. "I wonder what house I will be in" she thought for the millionth time. And the last.

Jason walked into the Hall with great confidence... almost too much confidence. Like anyone else on their first day at Hogwarts, he was wearing the school robes. As Jason stood there, his mind was flipping through all 4 possibilities. He was brave, so Gryffindor was a possibility. He had to admit that he wasn't a genius or anything, so he couldn't imagine himself being in Ravenclaw. Hufflepuff... he was loyal and friendly, that was definitely a possibility. He didn't consider himself as pure or anything, so he assumed he wouldn't be in Slytherin. His conclusion was that he'd either be in Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, but he kept an open mind. If he was sorted into Slytherin or Ravenclaw, then whatever. It wasn't a huge deal. Finally, Jason's name was called. All of a sudden, a stream of nervousness shot down his spine, but he managed to keep a cool exterior. It'd not even that big of a deal, so why am I nervous? I just have to be okay with wherever I'm placed. He thought, sitting down. The sorting hat was placed on his head and the nervousness was still present.
