Henri left his hair sticking up a little, after all, he knew that his hands would probably go through it again. What was the point in brushing it? He found himself checking his appearance before he left his place. Fixing his shirt and being satisfied, Henri left to meet Aurelia at the tea shop they had gone to the other day.
The wait for Friday seemed have been ages long, but he was excited that it was finally time. He had sent a small package of eclairs and crepes to Aurelia whenever he made Danica's and he hoped that she liked them.
As he reached the tea shop, Henri's mind seemed to go in fifty million directions. He had arrived at the meeting place a little early, but there wasn't a problem with that. Casually putting his hands in his pockets, Henri waited patiently for Aurelia.

Aurelia had been surprised when the package of eclairs and crepes arrived from Henri. She had told him she didn't need anything... but he'd sent her something anyway. It was so sweet and so like him.
She was already falling in love with him all over again. Not that she had ever stopped loving him. She couldn't if she tried.
When Friday finally arrived, Aurelia was a nervous wreck. She changed her outfit at least a dozen times, and spent forever on her hair and makeup. Not that she needed to. She just wanted to look perfect for him.
Her stomach was fluttering nervously as she made her way to the tea shop. She had already owled Kieran so that he knew to expect them, and she was very curious to see what he had to say. What if there had been no memory charm? What other explanation could there be?
As she approached the shop, she could see him there, standing outside with his hands in his pockets as he waited for her. She waved shyly and walked a little faster until she reached him. "Hello," she said. "Thank you for the crepes and eclairs. It was very kind of you."

While he waited, he leaned back against the wall. Henri's eyes were watching for her, and when she came into view, he couldn't help but break into a smile. His dimples were deep as he removed a hand from one of his pockets and waved.
Whenever she reached him, his smile was still on his face. "Bonjour," he said greeting her. "Je vous en prie. I know that you said that it wasn't necessary, but I thought that you would like them."
Henri couldn't wipe all of his smile from his face. "And you look very pretty, by the way." There was no shyness in his voice as he made his comment. It was spoken more confidently.

"They were delicious. I enjoyed them very much," she told him. "I am sure Danica enjoyed them, too."
The compliment made her blush deeply, and she felt a thrill to the tip of her toes. It was amazing how he could make her feel like a teenager all over again.
"Thank you," she replied. "I guess... should we go to the hospital, then?" She didn't want to rush it, but she was so curious. And besides, the sooner they finished at the hospital, the sooner they could go out and just spend time together.

Aurelia's blush made Henri want to keep making her blush. He liked seeing the red on her cheeks.
Henri nodded. "We should," he said. He had a feeling that it was a memory charm that had to have been done. He wouldn't have just forgotten her, and he knew that he would have shown up to take her away from the man she was to have married. Henri never would have just gone back on his word, unless of course something forced him not to, like what happened to him.
"I can apparate us close to there," he offered. "Then we can walk the rest of the way to the hospital if you want."

It took a lot of effort for Aurelia to tear her eyes from his. She had always been able to lose herself in those eyes, and that hadn't changed. "That would be perfect," she said. "You don't remember, but I had a really hard time learning how to apparate. I spliced myself once, and almost did it a few more times... you tried to help me, but I've only ever been able to do it for very short distances."
She smiled as she placed her hand in his. She could feel the sparks shoot through her as they touched, and it caused her to shiver slightly.

As soon as her hand touched his, Henri closed his hand around hers. He liked the feel of how her hand felt. It was soft and not to mention, it was a little small than his but it seemed to fit perfectly. "I promise that I won't splice either one of us," he said with a smile. "And we'll work on your apparating sometime."
Here he was, already planning something ahead of time. He wasn't sure if he should have already been making some kind of plan, but he knew that she wasn't going to let him go easily, and he wasn't going to just let go easily either. Henri knew for sure there was something there.
He gave her one last smile before apparating near St. Mungo's. The weird feeling in his stomach went away once they reached their destination. It was a small alleyway, but it was a perfect place to apparate to. "See, we're here without any problems." He gave her a wink, and didn't release her hand. He held on to her hand as he led her out of the alleyway.

For the first time in 11 years, Aurelia felt completely and totally safe. She had always felt safe with him; safe and loved. And although they would have to start all over to rebuild the kind of love and trust they had once had, Aurelia was beginning to feel that it was truly possible. Maybe lightning really could strike twice.
Aurelia hated apparating; she always had. But with him, she barely even felt it. Maybe it was because her stomach was already fluttering with the simple touch of his hand. He somehow managed to block out all of her worries and fears and replace them with warmth.
"Thank you," she said, first in Czech and then in English. "You are very good at that."
She was glad when he didn't let go of her hand, and she found herself squeezing his hand lightly as they began to walk.
"My friend, Kieran, he is the one I was telling you about," she explained. "He lost his father, sister, and fiancee in the attack. I am actually rather worried about him. He has been very quiet lately... I hope he doesn't mind helping us today."

Henri gave a laugh. "Merci," he said. He looked at her whenever she squeezed his hand. His face felt warm but he didn't mind it.
A frown formed on his face as she told him about her friend. "If he does, then I don't want to force him to do anything he doesn't want to do." Henri hoped that everything went alright with Kieran. After all, he couldn't imagine losing someone like that. He hated to even think about it, and that was a reason as to why he was sorry for what happened eleven years ago although it wasn't really his fault.
"But even if things don't go as planned today, you know that I'm not going away, n'est ce pas?"

Aurelia was almost breathless at those words. Logic told her that she couldn't trust such perfect words; that too much time had passed and she had been through too much to just place her heart, her hopes and dreams in him all over again. But it was Henri. And whatever doubts she might have had during the years they had been separated, they seemed harsh and meaningless when she looked in his eyes and saw the honesty there.
He would never lie to her. He would never have willingly abandoned her, and he was not going to leave her now. She knew it.
"I believe you," she said softly.

Henri felt a shiver go down his spine whenever she spoke softly. His smile returned. "Bien," he said before squeezing her hand. The people they were passing on the street seemed almost like they didn't exist. Henri wasn't as focused on his surroundings as he usually was.
The entrance to St. Mungo's wasn't much further away. "There's a small French cafe about a block and a half from the hospital. They have pastries, coffee, tea, that sort of thing, if you want to go there afterward."

As much as she wanted to know what had happened, Aurelia found herself wishing that the walk to the hospital would take a little longer. She liked walking with him, just listening to his voice and feeling his hand in hers. It was perfect.
"That would be lovely," she replied. She would never say no to spending time with him. She had just got him back; she was not about to let him go again.
They had reached the entrance to the hospital now, and she stopped to look at him. "Whatever happens... I'm glad we have the chance to start again."

Aurelia's response made another shiver run through him. He liked the idea of spending time with her. She made him smile often and she also made him feel something he couldn't quite define.
His feet stopped whenever hers did. Her words made his dimples deepen once again. Henri squeezed her hand, and nodded. "Moi aussi," he responded, "Avec optimisme les choses seront mieux. Hopefully things will be better." Even though he knew that he probably didn't have to translate, he did it out of habit. His words meant that hopefully they wouldn't have to worry about anyone this time, except for themselves and Danica.
Henri opened the doors to the hospital letting Aurelia to go in first. "Ici nous allons," he said with a smile and gave her hand another squeeze.

Aurelia smiled at him, lingering just a second longer than she needed to. "Things already are better, now that you're here," she said.
She walked through the doors and into the hospital, then waited for him to join her. "I will check in at the reception desk, so that they can let him know that we're here."
She gave his hand a quick squeeze, then walked up to the desk, giving the woman her name and asking for Kieran. She nodded and went to find him, and Aurelia rejoined Henri.
"I do appreciate that you were willing to do this."

He gave her a nod and watched as she walked up to the desk. Henri couldn't help but watch her as she walked to the counter and then back again. There was a light smile on his lips as he watched her. She had certainty in her step.
Henri gave her a shrug. "It's something that I want to do." He couldn't explain exactly as to why he wanted to jump into something that he didn't really know about but he wasn't going to question it. He wanted to know about what happened to him, and what happened to them.

Luckily, Kieran was having one of his better days. Not that it was great, but it was at least less stressful than usual. He had just finished up with a patient and was planning to relax in the lounge for a bit (and possibly take a drink, although he didn't feel as desperate for it as he usually did). But Lucia, one of the receptionists, headed him off and told him that Aurelia was here with her friend.
"Oh, right," he said. "I forgot they were coming. Show them into room 17, and I'll be there in a few minutes."
Lucia nodded and went back to the reception area. "Follow me, please," she said, beckoning to them.

Aurelia nodded and took Henri's hand. She felt a flutter of nervousness in her stomach as they followed the receptionist into a small, private room. What if there was no memory charm? What if he just... forgot her? Was that possible?
Once inside the room, Aurelia looked at Henri and then at the bed. "I don't know if you need to lie down or anything," she said, looking embarrassed. "Maybe we could just both sit on the edge of the bed until Kieran comes in."

Henri couldn't get over the fact of the way her touch would send small electric shocks up his arms. He was surprised that he didn't make the hair on his arm stand up. He followed her toward the room and for the first time, other than the time Aurelia smiled at him, his heart beat sped up.
He was a little nervous about the whole ordeal himself. If the charm could be reversed, would his memories come rushing back to him? Those thoughts ran through his mind until Aurelia's voice broke his thoughts.
Her embarrassment made Henri put on a light smile. "We can both sit on the edge of the bed," he said leading her over and taking a seat, waiting her to follow suit.

Aurelia smiled and sat down next to Henri, taking his hand in hers again. It felt so good to just hold his hand again, after all this time. And whatever happened here, she had a feeling that everything would be all right. After all, fate wouldn't have brought them together again for no reason, would it? The way he just happened to meet Danica and he just happened to be there when she came for the conference... there had to be some force that helped that along. It simply couldn't just be a coincidence.
"It's going to be fine," she told him confidently. "I can just feel it."

Sitting close to Aurelia made him feel warm, but not in a shy, embarrassed way. He squeezed her hand and rested their hands on his knee with the back of her hand facing up. Henri was eager to find out what happened, and he was doing his best to contain it.
"Évidemment il est," he said with a smile. Henri was confident about it as well. After all, there was meaning to the reason why he happened to meet Danica and then run into Aurelia. He wasn't sure what it was but there was something there. Sooner or later he was going to figure it out, but until then he was going to get to know Aurelia better as well as Danica.
