Rebecca stood in line, tapping her folded arms impatiently. All of the other kids were standing with friends and chatting nervously as they waited, and Rebecca couldn't wait for the sorting to be over so she could see if she would make her parents proud or not. She thought not.
Other kids had tried to talk to her on the train, but she didn't feel like conversing. She was nervous like the rest of them, but the others seemed too excited to be going to school. Even though it would be a whole new experience for Rebecca, even at this young age she didn't like being told what to do by anyone, and that included teachers. Her mom had told her about some classes that she would be interested in, and Rebecca quickly decided those would be the classes she would pay attention in, depending on how the professor was, of course.
When her name was called she walked up quickly to the stool and sat straight, looking around at the tables of the different houses.

Julia Dupree wasn't nervous. She was impatient. She already knew what house she would be in because everyone decided she was too much of a book worm to not be in Ravenclaw. She even had blue stationary that her mom got her so it would go with the house they were so sure she would be put in. She just wanted to be able to go and talk to her sister. She didn't like having to wait.
Her name was called soon because she was a "D" and she walked up to the stool with confidence. She sat down and smiled up at the professor standing before her and felt the hat on her head.

Angelina Smith walked proudly up to the chair when her name was called, though inside she was a nervous reck. She wondered if she would be put in Slytherin like everyone expected. Honestly, she doubted if that was the right house for her. The sorting Hat was placed on her head and she thought she would faint with anxiety so she whispered under her breath a ryhme that she came up with when she had to wrte a poem in school to describe herself. The ryme started out like this " I'm proud, if I have to, I'll shout out loud." She went on. "If you need a friend, I'll be there, for me send, I wont laugh, I wont stare."
She sighed as she finished her ryhme. Was it normal for her to be so scared? Was she abnormal? Well she could answer that question herself. She despertly wanted to make friends. What kind of people were in each house? Angelina pushed aside all thoughts and feelings the one moment that the Sorting Hat spoke for her.

Gryffindor.
Just a couple more things:
1. Please change your Display Name in your profile to match your character's name. Let me know if you don't know how to do this.
2. I'd really like to see you add a little more depth to your posts. Try to talk about what she's thinking and feeling in each post. What is she doing with her body? What's going on around her? Really try to get into her head.

Go find a thread to post in, or start one of your own. Also, I think there's an active potions class in the dungeon....

Post by Evalyn Chambers on May 17, 2011 16:38:38 GMT -5
This was it. It was finally the day: the day Evalyn Chambers was to be sorted into a House of Hogwarts. Eva went over in her head what her father had told her about the houses. Whatever you do, Eva, don't get sorted into Slytherin, her father had said. Gryffindor...now that's a good house, I had several mates in Gryffindor. Home of the brave and all that. I wouldn't mind if you got in there. Hufflepuff isn't too bad either. But Ravenclaw! Now that's the house to be in. It's chock-full of witty kids. So easy to talk to, and not bad at Quidditch, either, though we haven't won the Cup in years...
Eva laughed silently at the memory. She surveyed the four tables. Her glance rested on Gryffindor, and happened to spot two boys, both who had black hair and were talking to each other animatedly. They had been sorted before her: James Potter and Sirius Black. They seemed like the type of people she wanted to hang around, but her eyes were distracted by the blue of the Ravenclaw table. That was definitely where she wanted to go. She wanted her father to be proud of her. All of a sudden, a voice shook her out of her thoughts.
"Chambers, Evalyn!"
Eva grinned at the girl next to her who she had already made friends with back in the boat ride. "Wish me luck," she said, before striding confidently to the stool and placing the hat firmly on her head.

Post by Elisabetta Domenici on Jun 25, 2011 23:03:27 GMT -5
Elisabetta yawned as she waited to walk into the Great hall for the Sorting ceremony to begin. She already knew what was going to happen, as her mum and dad had explained the process to her the the night before she was to leave for Hogwarts. It wasn't a big deal, actually...all you did was put on an old hat and let it read your mind to see which house you would do the best in.
Finally, the time came to go into the Great Hall. Betta was stunned at how long the tables were, not to mention the ceiling, which was bewitched to look like the sky outside. Mum and Dad never told me about this, she thought, as she took her place in front of the old hat perched on a stool. Excitement built up inside of her. Where would she go? That was the million-Galleon question.

Post by Pippa Howard on Jul 9, 2011 0:02:38 GMT -5
Pippa's knees were knocking together so hard that she was sure everyone could hear them. This was all so overwhelming for her, just a simple girl with no magical background. And everyone was already so far ahead of her! They had been raised around magic; they probably thought that weird talking hat was no big deal at all. Pippa, on the other hand, was terrified of it. How could a hat be talking and singing? How could it know what house you belonged in? What if she got put in the wrong house? Or worse, what if they realized that she didn't belong her at all?
Pippa was chewing on her hair, and was shaking so badly that she almost didn't even hear her name being called. When she realized it was her turn, she jumped and rushed over to the stool, nearly tripping as she went. Her hair was wet on one side, and she self consciously tucked it behind her ear before she stuck the hat on her head.

Hope glanced around. She could see students that were either impatient, nervous, afraid or the combination of all three. She looked back at the sorting hat before people started to notice her staring. She already knew what house she would be sorted, it was inevitable. Her mother had been in Slytherin, her grandfather, her grandmother, her great grandfather, her great grandmother and etc. She wasn't afraid of the hat, she had seen worst, but she wasn't hoping that by a miraculous turn point that she'd be sorted into anything but Slytherin. However, all hope disappeared as she heard her name called. With light, quiet steps, she walked to the Hat, sitting down and waited for the hat to speak.

Lisanne stood a little bit away from the other kids, having long since become bored with the whole sorting process. This obviously meant a lot more to the other kids than it did to her. In fact, once she finished laughing at the silly names like Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, she stopped paying attention at all. Even the novelty of a talking hat had worn out for her. There were just so many other things to see, like floating candles and the enchanted ceiling, which was currently displaying a majestic, starry sky. She could pick out the constellations from here.
Unfortunately, she was so absorbed in staring at the ceiling that she didn't hear her name being called. There was a long moment of heavy silence, then a booming voice called out, "LISANNE MOREAU!"
Lisanne jumped and stumbled forward, her face flushing bright red. She might not have really cared what other people thought of her, but she didn't want to be known as the spaz girl who almost missed her own sorting and then nearly fell on her face. Her head down, she rushed over to the stool and jammed the hat on her head, hoping that it would hurry up and sort her so she could sit down and hide for a while.
