Staring at the lake

Kris stood under a tree staring at the water. She kicked the grass thinking about what Sirius had said about the animals. She smiled slightly as she leaned against the tree. She remembered how the animals came when she was most worried or upset.

Fenrir thought he would pay another visit to the boy, planning to shake him up a little more. He knew that the boy had taken up with the outcast's pack. It disgusted him, the hypocrisy of it. As he neared the school, he paused to sniff the air. He recognized a smell similar to Remus's. but different. Intrigued, he drew closer and saw a young girl standing by the water. He licked his lips and spoke. "Young girls should not sit alone so close to the forest," he said.

The visions of the animals disappeared when Kris heard someone speak. She slowly turned around. "Who...who are you?" She tried and failed to sound brave as she looked at the man.

[Fenrir Greyback]

Fenrir licked his lips again. "I am someone you know all too well already," he said. "And I know you. Well, your family, anyway. Perhaps I know them better than you. They cast you out, did they, child? All because you failed."

[Kris Lupin]

Kris stared at the man then relised who he was. "You...you're the one that attacked my brother." She glared at him. "They made me move for my protection!" She clenched her fists as she glared at him.

[Fenrir Greyback]

Greyback smiled. "Is that what they told you? then why don't they contact you? Why did they erase all memories of you from his mind? You're nothing but a stranger to your own brother, and for what? Because you didn't protect him." He laughed, knowing full well that if the girl had been there, he would have killed her.

[Kris Lupin]

"You...you're lying." Kris said her eyes stinging with tears. "I...I don't believe you." Although she didn't sound so sure of what she was saying. She wipped her eyes and muttered, "It's got to be a lie...it just has to be."

[Fenrir Greyback]

Greyback threw his head back and laughed. "But it doesn't feel like a lie, does it? Admit it, girl, this is what you feel, deep in your heart. You were sent away because you failed to protect sweet Remus from me..."

[Kris Lupin]

Kris looked away from him and whispered, "But it wasn't my fault! I didn't know!" She faced the tree then kicked it, hard. "I thought they cared about me...I thought that they loved me." She kicked the tree once again angry tears stinging her eyes.

[Fenrir Greyback]

Greyback laughed again. "Love is a foolish emotion, humans place too much reliance on it. It can be fleeting and harsh. They had to choose, you or him. They chose him and sent you away..."

[Kris Lupin]

"Why...why him? What's so bloody special about him?" Kris clenched her fists then punched the tree so hard her knuckles bled. "I hate them, I hate them all! They're not my family."

[Fenrir Greyback]

Greyback laughed all the harder. "That's it, girl, that's it. Let the hate and anger overtake you. Become bitter and twisted with rage and jealousy. You can get back at them, you know. And I know just the way..." he licked his lips excitedly, things were going just as he'd hoped.

[Kris Lupin]

Kris looked up at him. "How?" She asked almost eagerly as she ignored the pain she had in her hand. Her eyes sparkled with interest as she waited for him to explain how.

[Fenrir Greyback]

"Simple...." Greyback said, his lips curling over his teeth. "Bring Remus to me."

[Kris Lupin]

"What?" Kris stared at him in shock. "I will not bring him to you. I will not let you hurt him again. I may have failed in protecting him last time but I will not this time!"

[Fenrir Greyback]

"Very well then," Greyback said. The moon was beginning to rise and he could already feel its pull on his bones. "Would you rather become a werewolf like him?" he said, laughing brutally as fur began sprouting through his skin.

Kris backed up to the tree her eyes widening in fear. With her back against the tree she had nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. At least this time she protected her brother from him.

[Fenrir Greyback]

As his bones cracked and twisted, Fenrir released a gruesome howl, enjoying the pain as it ripped through him. He opened his eyes, and saw that the foolish girl was still there, cowering against a tree. She was pinned. There was no escape, no one to rescue her. She was his.

Baring his teeth, he lunged at her and sank his teeth into her flesh.

Kris screamed in pain and fright as she felt him bite her. She tried to fight him as she continued to scream. She hoped someone or something would come rescue her.

Greyback pulled back and waited for the girl to begin her first transformation. He loved to see it for the first time, the pain of ripping flesh and cracking bone.
