"I grew up there," she returned, returning his gentle kiss. "I want to show you around... more than the beach. In fact, I should show you the beach last. I loved it there, you know. And I always felt that London was missing that relaxed, small town feel that I grew up with. But I've never wanted out of somewhere as fast as I wanted out of there. Anyway... I think you'll like it there. So yes, Roland. I want to go, and I want to show it to you. And we'll swim at the end of the world. I always said we would face the world together, didn't I?" She smiled, kissing him once more.
"Just be patient with me when we're there, okay? I haven't been back in a while."

Roland smiled and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "I'd love to see it. I'm sure it's beautiful."
He made a silent promise to himself that he would take whatever negative memories she had of her childhood hom and give her new, happy memories in their place.
Reluctantly, he pulled himself up into a sitting position and began gathering up their clothes. "Well, I guess we should get dressed, then. Do you want your clothes from earlier, or did you want to change?"

"I think I'll change," Riley said, watching him. He seemed so eager to go and see where she grew up (though really, she felt like she grew up at Hogwarts), and it made her smile to see that he was so interested. She hoped the town hadn't changed much, as there were places she really did want to show him.
"It'll be a little warmer there than it is here. And the water... Roland, it's amazing. It's always warm. I hope Arthur's home, anyway. But Phoenix will be fine for a couple of days." She was trying to forget about all the reasons she didn't want to go back, and concentrate of the reasons she had to go with him. She was even a little excited.

"OK," he said, handing her a shirt. He knew perfectly well that she was not going to walk around naked, even if he was the only one who would see. "I think I'll change, too. We can pack for warm weather."
He kissed her again. "I love you," he said, as if she needed reminding. "Why don't you go on ahead and get dressed, and I'll clean up the dinner we didn't eat. It was delicious, by the way... I'm sorry we got... distracted..."

Riley laughed as she pulled the shirt over her head. "It's okay. I wasn't that hungry anyway. I just feel like I should make you dinner sometimes."
She felt like she should be a good wife to him, even though they weren't married, and she had told him no twice already. She wanted to marry him, just... when the time was right. She reached out and took his hand, pulling him back to her so that she could kiss him one more time before she got to her feet and disappeared into the bedroom, where Phoenix gave her a look like he knew exactly what had gone on. She went to the closet and started to pack, waiting for Roland.

When Riley left the room, Roland pulled on his discarded jeans before he went about gathering their half-filled plates and wine glasses. He brought them into the kitchen, used a spell to vanish away the uneaten food from their plates, the lazily did a cleaning spell to clean everything up. As he did all this, he smiled softly, thinking how very domestic he had become. Sure, he was used to cleaning up after himself in his own apartment, but it felt different now. He liked the way it felt; like everything he did mattered to more than just himself.
Once everything was cleaned up, he went back into the living room and gathered the rest of their clothes, carrying them back to the bedroom.
"How's it going?" he asked her, tossing the clothes into the hamper and sitting on the edge of the bed to pet Phoenix for a moment. "You'll have to advise me what to pack."

"It doesn't matter what you where, Roland," Riley said, taking a brief moment to admire him, sitting on the edge of the bed in just his jeans. She loved him in jeans.
Sighing rather contently, she grabbed her swimsuit. "It's all very casual," she assured him. "But they tend to like lots of color. Maybe that's why I like everything so colorful. You know, I never thought about it like that." She shrugged, letting her little aside go.
"But definitely no wizard clothes."

He nodded. "No wizard clothes," he agreed. "You know, honestly, I'm sort of getting out of the habit of wearing robes. They're so bulky and formal... That doesn't seem to suit me anymore. I feel a little more like the kid I used to be... You know, I may finally be acting my own age, instead of ten years older."
He didn't say it, but the implication was that she was responsible for this change in him. He honestly felt younger in so many ways, and yet, he was preparing to take on greater responsibilities than he'd ever done before. Whatever it was, it felt good.
He stood up and walked over to the closet, taking out a small enchanted suitcase. To the muggle eye, it would look like a regular suitcase, but it would fit whatever he decided to bring, and weigh next to nothing. "Lots of color, huh? Well, mine isn't exactly the most colorful wardrobe in the world..."
He frowned as he looked at his collection of black, brown, grey and white t-shirts. Towards the back, there were a few items in blue and green, but for the most part, his clothes were mostly in neutral colors.

"I've never much cared for robes," Riley said, stepping out of his way as he came for the suitcase. "I just wear them for working."
Riley's clothes, on the other hand, were all vibrant and bright, mostly in shades of reds and oranges, though she had blues and greens as well. She pulled out a skirt and a couple of blouses, assuming they would only be gone for a couple of days. Tossing those on the bed, she took out his gray Tshirt, because she liked sleeping in it, and some underwear.
"Bring a sweater," she told him. "Just in case."
She thought about what to do with him while they were there. Maybe she would just play it by ear. Like she said, you couldn't plan something spontaneous. "I don't know which shoes to bring."
((I think it's cute that Roland's wearing only pants and she's only wearing a shirt. Together, they make a whole outfit! Lol))

Roland shrugged. "I guess I got used to them, after wearing them in school, and then for work. But you know, when I was a kid and I was first starting Hogwarts, I hated them. I complained about them all the time. My first year, I even got in trouble a couple of times for being out of uniform. I just didn't want to wear the robes."
He laughed lightly as he took out a few t-shirts, a sweater (which had been a gift from his mother and was pretty much the only one he had), and a nice shirt and jacket, just in case they went somewhere nice.
"Anyway, robes definitely don't do you justice. In fact, I think you look positively stunning right now, wearing nothing but a shirt."

Riley smiled at the compliment, even though she thought she must have looked like a mess at the moment. "I think you look really good too," she said, her eyebrows going up as she took a step towards him and put her hand on his chest and she pushed him back into the door frame. She wanted him again. At this rate, they were never going to leave.
She stood up on her toes and pressed her lips to his, pressing her body into his as well. "I really like you in jeans. Have I mentioned that recently?"

Well, she certainly didn't have to work very hard to convince him. He kissed her deeply, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close to him. "Mmmmm.... It's always nice to hear," he replied, smiling against her lips.
He loved the way her body fit so perfectly against his, and for a moment, he just held her there, as if they were one person. Then he returned his lips to hers, while his hands began to lift up her shirt.
Phoenix, now quite used to this behavior from them, got up from his spot on the bed and trotted out of the room.

Maybe being pregnant was giving her a greater sex drive, or maybe she was just continually getting less shy around him, but she pulled away only long enough for him to discard her shirt, where it landed on top of their half packed suitcase, and then her lips were back on his. Merlin, he tasted sweet and spicey all at the same time. Her hands went for the button on his jeans almost urgently, and she nearly laughed at herself.
"Our poor dog is going to need therapy," she whispered against his lips, smiling.

Roland chuckled, but didn't remove his lips from hers. "He's a smart dog. I think he knows the score. But I have a feeling he's going to really resent me when it's time to get him fixed."
His hands were running up and down her back, but he removed them to help her with the button of his jeans.
They never even made it to the bed, and it was over pretty quickly. They stood there for a while, pressed tightly together, just enjoying the moment of perfect bliss that always came afterward.
"I love you," he whispered, threading his fingers through her hair.

It was really no wonder she was pregnant. They found themselves in each others arms so often that even if they had been extremely careful from the start, something would have slipped sometime.
"I love you, too," she told him, her head resting on his shoulder and her eyes closed. These were her favorite moments, when she was content and floating and surrounded by him. They were moments where reality didn't matter. Sanity didn't matter. It was just her and Roland, together.
Breaking into a smile, she looked up at him. "Should we finish packing?"

He smiled down at her and kissed her lazily. "Yes, I suppose we should," he replied, but he made no move to do so. He was still enjoying the closeness between them and wasn't anxious for it to end just yet. Not that they probably wouldn't end up in this position again soon enough. It really was hard for them to keep their hands off of each other.
She had a few strands of hair that had stuck to her face, and he gently brushed them away. "You know, I just have this feeling that we'll get to Portugal and spend most of our time in the hotel room, doing this... Not that I'd have a problem with that..."

Riley smiled, rather suspecting the same thing. It was just so hard to keep her hands off him. She needed to so that she could keep her sanity.
"We'll go do things, I promise. But there will be a lot of this too. And I'll love every minute of it."
She wasn't making any moves to leave either, content to stay in his arms for a while. This was perfect. They were perfect.

Roland smiled. "Whatever we do, it doesn't matter. It'll be beautiful and perfect, because we're together."
He held her just a little longer, then kissed her one more time. He didn't want to break the moment, but if they were going tonight, they needed to leave soon. Arthur went to bed early, Roland knew, so if they were going to ask him to watch Phoenix, they would have to hurry.
"We should finish packing," he said softly. "There'll be plenty of time for more of this later."

Plenty of time... anymore, Riley wasn't so sure. This was part of the reason she was so willing and axious to make Roland happy. If something happened to either of them, she never wanted him to doubt that she had loved him.
"I was trying to pack," she returned. "You distracted me." She kissed him once more, quickly, before she finally pulled away from him, picking up her shirt once more and slipping it over her head. She was going to take it off again in five minutes to actually get dressed, but she still felt weird walking around naked.
She pulled a couple more items from their hangers, and then looked at Roland. "I'll get out stuff out of the bathroom," she told him as she let him finish packing his clothes.

Roland raised an eyebrow. "I distracted you?" he said with a laugh. "What did I do? The way I recall it, I was just standing here, and you practically pounced on me. Not that I'm complaining, mind you..."
He watched her as she pulled on her shirt, then he pulled his pants back up again. He was smiling as he resumed packing. Had that been the first time she had truly initiated sex with him? He couldn't think she had done it before, and the fact that she had done it now made him incredibly happy.
She went to pack bathroom supplies, and while she was doing this, he quickly went to the dresser, where he now had two drawers to use for his clothes. What she didn't know was that he had stashed something else in one of them. Using a disillusionment charm, Roland had hid a small box in the back of the drawer. Inside the box was an engagement ring that he had picked up for her the day after he had returned home, while she was still in the hospital. Opening the box, he smiled a moment as he looked at the ring inside. It was set in yellow gold, With five oval-shaped rubies set around a sparkling diamond to form the shape of a flower. It had positively screamed her name when he saw it. And he was just looking for the perfect moment to give it to her, so that he could ask her properly this time. This trip was bound to give him an opportunity.
He stashed it in a hidden compartment in his suitcase before he went about packing the rest of his things.
