"I like talking with you too Nathalia," he replied honestly. Hayden couldn't help but add "I try" to her next comment. He let out a laugh.
Seeing her expression, Hayden sat up straight. "I'm probably going to take you up on that. I'll be back in here soon, just not on Friday." He smiled. "Because there is no way that I'm going to do any karaoke." That was one thing that Hayden would never do. Getting up in front of a bunch of people and singing? He would do almost anything to get out of that.
"And, er, if you want, I could walk you home." He didn't really think much of his offer, except for the fact it did give a little more time to talk.

There it was... Nathalia was used to that offer. She had almost come to expect it whenever she sat down and had a drink with a guy. And while it made her feel better, on some level, there was a nagging feeling in the back of her mind. What she didn't realize yet was that as independent as she thought she was, she almost didn't know what to do when she wasn't going home with some guy. She hated being alone... maybe that's all it amounted to was that she was scared of being alone with herself.
"I wouldn't want you to have to go out of your way," she replied. "How far do you live from the Twilight Apartments? That's where I am."

Hayden's offer was out of innocence. He wasn't the kind that would usually walk a girl home, only to stay the night and leave the next morning or even in the middle of the night.
"Don't worry about that," he said waving her off. "I live in the Black Cat Apartments, but going to the Twilight Apartments is not going to be a big deal." It dawned on him that she lived in the same building that Roland and Riley did. What if he ended up running into Roland while he was taking Nathalia home? Hayden pushed that thought away. He wouldn't end up running into his cousin tonight.

She would have never guessed that he meant it innocently. Guys just didn't have innocent intentions around her, and... well, she never tried to change that, did she?
She saw the slight hesitation on his face, and she smiled sympathetically. "I live a floor below them," she said, proving that she was very good at her job of reading people's personal problems. "You probably won't run into them. But if you're worried about it, I'll understand."

"No, no," Hayden said. "It's alright. No big deal." He put a gentle smile on his face. Nathalia's words made him wonder if he was more of an open book than what he thought or maybe not. "I don't mind walking you home. Besides, I'll end up seeing him sometime. He's probably already asleep or something." He gave a shrug.
"Ready to go?"

"It would probably be good for you both if you saw him, but what do I know?" Nathalia asked with a shrug.
She nodded when he asked if she was ready, and within moments, they were in the crisp night air.
"So, Hayden, tell me everything there is to know about you." She was smiling as she said it, and if he was being talkative, she didn't want to waste any time. He didn't strike her as the type that was talkative much of the time.

"Everything there is to know," he asked with a laugh as he glanced to Nathalia. "Hm, let's see what there is to know about me." Hayden put his hands in his pockets and thought for just a moment. "Obviously, I'm not much of a talker. I usually just watch people because you can learn a lot about a person that way. I live alone but I do go try to see my parents at least once a week. If you ever need anything, I will probably be one of the first people to jump to the task."
Hayden grew quite for a moment as his thoughts continued. "I like to listen to music a lot. I don't have a particular favorite because I listen to it all. I like to fall asleep with the television on and there is no way that I could cook a gourmet meal, but I'm working on it." With the last bit, Hayden gave a quiet laugh. "That is just about it. I'm afraid that I'm not the most interesting person in the world. What about you? Tell me everything there is to know about you."

"Nonsense. People are fascinating... there's not a single boring person on the planet." Nat truly believed that. It was why she painted people the way she did. There was a story behind everyone, and she wanted to know them all. "I find you fascinating, too."
As they walked in the cold night air, Nathalia shrugged. "You sholdn't have asked. I really like to talk," she warned him. "I'm an artist... well, I paint. Portraits. I just came in from New York where I was studying art for a little while. I live with my mum right now, but it's only because I'm not sure how long I'll be here. I get restless. I like music, too, but I generally use it as a muse when I'm painting. Who knows, maybe that's why I decided to work here. And I love reading people. Should I keep going?"

Hayden gave a somewhat shy glance toward the ground. He never found himself fascinating. Usually, his life was a set schedule. Sometimes there was a slight change in what he did day to day, but usually it was just a set path. He kept to himself and usually the only other people that could read him was Roland and Liam. Although, Hayden didn't protest against Nathalia, he just let it slide by.
"Now, you're a fascinating person," he said after he listened. Hayden would give the casual glance her way as she was talking and he liked that her face sort of brightened. "I sort of hope that you're going to be around for awhile." He gave her a smile. "But yes, you can keep on going. I wouldn't mind hearing a little more."

"Oh, man, I'm going to start rambling," Nathalia said, smiling and shaking her head.
"I don't know how long I plan to be around... but you know, as long as you or anyone in your family needs an objective ear, I'll be here." She went on to tell about her childhood, how it had just been her and her mom. She didn't care that she told him how they seemed to be the outcasts of the family, explaining their unconventional ways. She told him that she'd been a Gryffindor in school "but I bet you were a Ravenclaw," she had added, trying to keep him engaged and keep him from getting bored.
After a while, when she could see the Twilight Apartments in the distance, she finally stopped. "That's me in a nutshell, I suppose."

A smile crossed Hayden's face to let her know that he didn't mind. He liked hearing her talk about herself. It wasn't in one of those egotistical ways. As she talked about her life, he nodded, smiled, and commented when it was appropriate.
"See, now that is extremely fascinating. You're probably the most fascinating person I've ever met." It was spoken with honesty. Of course, Hayden didn't really have that wide of a range of friends, mainly because he kept to himself, but the people that he did know, Nathalia was probably the most interesting.
In Hayden's opinion, the Twilight Apartments came into view a little too quickly but it would have been awkward, or at least he thought so, if he would have made that comment. "You're life sounds like it has been full of adventure already. My life is not that exciting, unless you count my job from time to time." Hayden gave a shrug. For being nineteen, he had already seen his fair share of the bad side of the wizarding world. "But then again, that's not really the good excitement though." He gave a half smile and noticed that they were already there.
Hayden opened the door for her. It was only right if he walked her to her door, right? It wouldn't be nice of him if he just left her at the bottom. "Anyway, I do have to say that I am going to be coming back to Stu's soon. Tonight has been," he paused to find a good word, "nice."

"My goal in life is to never have a boring story to tell," Nathalia told him, shrugging. "If that makes me fascinating... eh, I'm okay with it. You could probably guess that I like talking anyway."
She turned towards him and tried to remember if her mom and Annalise were home or not. She was pretty sure they were out at a movie, and she wondered what she had to lose. Hayden had brought her this far, after all.
"Do you want to come up, Hayden?"

"That's an excellent goal," he said with a nod of his head. "I'm sure that you have more non boring stories." Hayden smiled.
At her question, Hayden's hands were in his pockets. "I suppose I could walk you up to your apartment. I don't think it would hurt." Walking her to her door was the only thing that he had in mind. Hayden's mind did spread to other things, like spending the night, or part of the night, all that often. Tonight happened to be one of those nights that he mind did not stray there.

"I think I make up half the exciting details in my stories anyway. My mum once told me that I was the only person she knew who could have an interesting story about walking across the room and back."
Her stomach got the butterfly feeling in it, and she smiled at him. "All right," she said, already knowing she would invite him in for a drink, and... well, she hoped that Anna and her mother would be out for a while. The kinds of men she was used to followed this pattern, and she had no idea that Hayden's intentions were innocent. She wouldn't have known how to deal with it.
She lead him to the lift, pressing the button, a little annoyed when the door opened almost instantly.

Hayden laughed. "Well, I'm sure that kind of story would be interesting. Besides, what kind of stories would we have if we didn't add some kind of flare to them?"
He followed her into the lift and watched as the button lit up as Nathalia pushed it. Hayden crossed his arms as the lift went up. Before he knew it, the doors opened up again. He motioned for Nathalia to walk out first. "Just to let you know, tonight has been one of the better nights I've had as of late."

"Exactly. I see nothing wrong with embellishing a story that would otherwise like entertainment." Nathalia shrugged with a smile. She had a flair for the dramatic, even as laid back as she liked to think she was.
"I imagine most of your nights lately have been... a little sad. I'm glad I could help, even if just a little." The whole of teh Ferrera Family could use a break, she thought, and she wished she knew how to help them.
When she got to the door, she unlocked it and opened it. "Excuse all the movies everywhere. We have a move star living with us for a while. So what's your poison, Hayden? Coffee or tea?"

"No, it's alright. It's good to see somewhere that looks lived in," he said with a smile. His place was the complete opposite. Everything was neat because everything was bare. He didn't really have that many dishes, nor silverware. There were just a few pictures of his family, a few books and movies, and of course the necessary furniture. Other than that, he didn't really have anything special.
Hayden contemplated the offer of staying for a little while longer. He knew he should probably be heading home but a part of him couldn't just say that he probably should be. "Coffee," he said making a decision. A few more minutes wouldn't really hurt right? Nathalia was pretty much a family friend, and he was having a decent time, so there wasn't really a probably. Besides, she offered...

"Coffee it is."
He was going along with it. And everyone knew that coming up for coffee was really just a metaphor for something else a little more daring. Part of Nathalia ached at this, already several steps ahead as she began to brew a pot. He'd leave, probably even before Ursula and Anna came home, and that would be the end of it.
She forced the thoughts from her mind, turning to face him while they waited for the coffee. "I like to brew it the muggle way. It's stronger. Takes longer, but it's worth it."

Innocence was still in Hayden's mind. His mind didn't even drift over to anything else. Mainly his thoughts bounced back and forth between Roland and nothing. It was like just those thoughts were playing ping pong in his head and no other player was coming along.
"Sometimes the muggle way is better. That's the only way I trust my own cooking." Hayden gave a laugh. He couldn't cook much, but he was trying. He leaned against the counter and crossed his arms over his chest. "And it's the way I like my coffee too. I'm always scared that I'm going to burn something horribly if it's done with magic."

"You cook?" Nathalia asked, eyebrows raising. "I'm very impressed. The extent of my cooking is a mean grilled cheese sandwhich. And I even make that in a microwave... that's a muggle invention," she added, in case he didn't know.
When there was at least half a pot finished, Nathalia turned and poured them both a mug of coffee.
"I know we have sugar, I just have to find it, and the cream is in the fridge, so go ahead and help yourself."
When they had both prepared their coffee to their liking, she lead him back to the living room and motioned for him to have a seat on the couch.
