Angelique rolled her eyes at this turn of conversation. "Oh, here we go," she joked. "Honestly, I'm just completely out-cuted by all these couples. Come on, Arthur, let's go hit the refreshment table. I could really use a drink. Just because I'm the boss doesn't mean I can't drink once in a while, right?"
She looped her arm through Arthur's, then turned to look at Roland and Riley one more time. "You know, for what it's worth, I really am happy for you two. And I'm glad you're back, Roland, even if you do give me ulcers. I'l' be in touch soon about when you can come back to work."

"He gives me ulcers too, if it makes you feel any better," Riley said, smiling as Angelique left. Or morning sickness... same thing, really. She squeezed Roland's hand, finding this whole situation to be a little overwhelming, and she wasn't quite sure why.
She turned her attention back to Andi and smiled. "So I've heard. Congratulations. I'm afraid I'll be asking you all kinds of things that I think might just scare Roland." She gave him a teasing look. Inside though, she was worried. Andromeda being pregnant actually made things a little difficult. If it was just Riley, she would be able to keep convincing people that she'd gotten pregnant on new Years... but it was close to two or three weeks after that, and if it looked off when compared with Andromeda... she sighed. Hopefully no one would be that observant.

Roland felt the little squeeze of her hand, and instinctively knew what it meant. Neither of them had really sought the spotlight, but here they were, attracting everyone's attention just because they were there. And he had to admit, they made a hell of a story. To everyone's eyes, he had come back from the dead. All of these people, they had seen Riley grieving and had probably drawn their own conclusions about their relationship. Now, here they were, together, and very obviously in love. They looked like the couple that had fought death itself to be together. And in a way, they had.
"Congratulations to you both," he said to Ted and Andromeda. "We'll talk some more later, but if you don't mind, I promised Riley I'd dance with her."
He bowed slightly to her. "How about it? May I have this dance?"

Riley couldn't help the school girl smile that came when he asked her to dance. Even when he said that he would earlier, she wasn't going to hold him to it. He didn't like to dance, and she wouldn't make him. But she did like to, and him asking sort of meant the world to her.
"I would love to, Roland. We can wait until other people start dancing though, if you like." She wasn't sure if he was asking because she looked like she needed to get away from everyone for a moment, but she appreciated it all the same. For so long, they spent time one on one, and it was just strange getting used to so many people being around and coming up to them.

Andi was often good at picking up the subtext in certain situations, and she could tell by the way Roland and Riley were looking at each other, that they really wanted a few minutes to themselves. She could hardly blame them. They had been through so much, and they deserved a chance to just relax without everyone hanging all over them, demanding their attention.
“You know what?” she said, giving Ted a playful smile. “That actually sounds like a really good idea. Why don’t we take a little spin around the dance floor?”

"You beat me to it," Ted told Andromeda with a laugh. "You're emasculating me. I'm supposed to ask you to dance." He was teasing her, of course, and he naturally didn't mind that Andromeda had asked him.
He held out his hand to her, still with that look in his eye that said he wasn't done teasing her yet. She was his best friend, when it came down to it, and he'd stop if it bugged her.
"I'd love to dance. But can I lead?"

Andi pretended to think about this for a minute. "Hmmm... OK, I suppose so," she replied, placing her hand in his.
Of course, part of the reason she had asked him to dance was to make it easier for Roland and Riley to have a moment alone. But once she thought of the idea, it seemed like a good one. She needed a moment alone with Ted, too. There was nothing she liked better than losing herself in his arms.
"Have I mentioned yet that you look very handsome today?" she asked him as she leaned her head against his shoulder.
