Still hugging Riley, Ama turned and looked at Roland again as he spoke. Her brother looked different, almost like a new person. He was completely happy and Ama knew that it was mostly Riley's doing. She'd thank Riley for that later. "Good," Ama said. "Really good."
"I swear I came with Jamie and the others." She frowned slightly at mentioning Jamie. Ama was sure that Roland being alive wouldn't fix the fight they had, but she also knew that they were both just being stubborn about mending things. "I just sort of...ran ahead of them."

Riley hugged Amandine back, smiling as well. How could she not, the way Ama reacted? She had a way of being happy that was really hard not to catch.
"Thank you, Ama."
How was she going to explain being pregnant if she was pretending not to have known about Roland all this time? She'd have to say it had been New Years before the battle and hope no one was the wiser.
"It's good to see you smile again, Ama," she added quietly, giving the girl an extra squeeze before she pulled back to look for the others.

Roland probably should have been worrying more about those little details, but he just couldn't. He couldn't pretend that Riley wasn't pregnant, or that he loved her. The change in him--in both of them, really--was noticeable immediately.
"I hope Dr. Kelly doesn't mind if this room gets flooded with people," Roland commented as Ama mentioned the others. "We might just fill this room to capacity with Ferreras..."

Sheena arrived with Hayden and Ama, but she stayed with her brother as Ama ran off into St. Mungos. She waited patiently for Jamie and Liam to arrive and then went off in search of Amandine. "Roland!" Sheena squealed, similar to how Ama had, and ran in. "The boys are right behind me, oh its so good to know you;re okay." Sheena smiled.

Her entrance almost seemed as if it was on cue. No sooner had he mentioned that the room woould soon be flooded, Sheena entered, and Roland broke into another smile.
"Hi, Sheena," he said. "I'm OK, being released soon. It's good to see you. How have you been?"
He glanced at Riley again. "Riley, you met Sheena, right? At Christmas?"

Riley nodded. She saw this as his moment, his time to recconnect with a family that had missed him terribly, and so she wasn;t trying to draw too much attention to herself. But it dawned on her that maybe it helped Roland not to have the attention solely on him.
"Yes, we met. Hello, Sheena." The door opened again, and revealed Liam, who was nudging Jamie in in front of him.
"And Jamie and Liam," she added, nodding to them.
((OOC: Jamie, I hope you don't mind. I just felt like it was something Liam would do, nudging you in.))

Jamie was standing very stiffly at the door, almost wanting to go back to Hogwarts. He wasn't sure what was better, denying it or accepting it. How could Roland do that to his family? Had he not known what pain he had caused in his absense? None of the Ferreras seemed to be talking while he had been dead.
Liam had nudged him in, and Jamie slumped over by the door. He hadn't even realized that Riley had acknowledged his existance at all. Instead, Jamie's eyes were focused directly on Roland's body. It was moving, and it was breathing. Roland was supposed to be dead. And if the family had known he was alive, what would have happened differently? Would he have known about Scarlette sooner? Would him and Ama never have had the fight?
Jamie didn't say anything, and rather just shuffled back to lean against a wall. This hadn't made him unhappy, of course, but it bothered him. He wasn't fully convinced that Roland was alive, and his emotions were tangled.

The sight of Jamie being pushed in by Liam sort of popped her happy-bubble that she was in. She wished that, just seeing Roland back, alive and healthy, that she and Jamie could forget the fight they had. But, instead of saying anything to Jamie, she went to stand by Sheena, and looked back to Roland. "Have Mum and Dad seen you?" she asked.

Roland's eyes went to the door as it opened again, and connected with Liam for a moment as he pushed Jamie into the room. But Jamie wasn't making eye contact; he was slumping down against the wall. Roland felt guilt stabbing at his heart, and he stared at his youngest brother for a long moment. The relationship between him and Jamie had always been tenuous at best, for reasons Roland still couldn't quite understand. At least he and Cyrus had been able to argue with each other, but with Jamie, more often than not, there was just silence.
When Ama spoke again, he forcibly dragged his eyes away from Jamie to focus on his sister. "Yeah... yeah, I actually saw them last night," he replied.
Looking back at Jamie, he sighed softly. "Jamie? I know neither of us is the hugging type, but you don't have to hide in the corner."

Jamie was in an even worse mood after seeing Amandine. She had looked incredibley happy until she had seen him, which meant she was still mad at him for not complying to her whole 'mourning' business. Jamie turned to look out the door, it would be very simple to just walk out and give himself some time to think about everything that had happened in the past fifteen minutes.
Jamie almost jumped at Roland's voice. It sounded painfully familiar, and Jamie hadn't expected to hear it again any time soon. He took a few steps closer to the bed that his eldest brother laid in, but he wasn't close enough to be in a hugging range. Roland was right, they weren't the hugging type.
"It's good to see you," Jamie said, giving a small smile. It wasn't a great welcome home statement, but it was all Jamie could muster.

It was enough for Roland. He would have been very shocked if Jamie had run into the room and launched himself at him, the way Amandine had done. Even a happy greeting like he had received from Cyrus would have felt out of character for Jamie. The best he could really hope for was that he would at least acknowledge him.
"It's good to see you, too, Jamie," he said. "How've you been?"

Ama subconsciously crossed her arms while her brothers spoke. Just being around Jamie made her feel nervous, like they'd break out and fight again if they so much as glanced at each other. She she crossed her arms and kept her head down, only listening to the convorsation Roland and Jamie were having. Why did she have to be fighting with Jamie? Roland was back from the dead for Merlin's sake, couldn't she just be happy about that?

Jamie stood and thought for a few seconds reviewing how his life had been. His brother had died, and now was lying infront of him like nothing had happened. That had caused him to ignore his now- pregnant girlfriend for almost two months. Although now that that had been cleared up, Jamie had been a lot happier then he would have expected.
But Jamie nodded without much emotion, "Fine, I guess. You're looking, not so well."
Jamie gave a grim grin after the statement, having sensed Ama's eyes on him. He turned away to face the ground, and rubbed his right forearm with his left hand. This family reunion was incredibley awkward, not at all the joyous experience that Jamie would have expected.

Why was it so hard to talk to Jamie? He loved his brother desperately, but somehow he just felt like Jamie didn't know that. He could argue with Cyrus and he could hug Amandine, but he and Jamie seemed locked in this sort of stoic silence. And it wasn't like he wasn't used to that... Hayden and Liam were the same way, but he did not feel the same wall between them that he felt with Jamie.
Maybe the only way to fix things was for him to start breaking down that wall. He had done it with Riley; maybe he could do it with Jamie as well. If only he knew how.
"I'm fine, really. I was injured, but it wasn't anything serious. And the doctor fixed me up pretty well."

"Oh." Jamie managed to say shortly, glancing at the door. He felt almost as if he was intruding in on his own family's reunion, ruining the happiness. Of course, most of anyone would try and convince him that he was part of the family, and they loved him. But Jamie didn't have anything to say to his own brother, who had virtually returned from the dead. Why was he could goof around with Scarlette. talking about anything, and not be able to break down mental barriers with his own family?
After a few seconds of contemplation, Jamie decided to add on to his statement, if he could even call it one. "I hope you're feeling alright."
Jamie glanced at the door once more, and debated leaving to talk to Scarlette about the entire situation.

"I'm fine," Roland said again.
He was at a loss; he had expected this to be easier. Maybe it was naive of him to think that Jamie would welcome him back readily, that it wouldn't be weird for him to see his brother basically return from the dead.
Desperately, he shot a look at Riley, as if she might have some idea what he should say or do. "Jamie..."
Finally, he did the only thing he could think of. It was something he probably never would have thought of before, but it seemed the only way to break the ice. He got up out of his bed and walked over to Jamie, pulling him into a hug.

Even though she was mad at Jamie, she smiled in amusement and crossed her arms, trying not to giggle. Neither Jamie or Roland were the hugging types and here they were in a tight embrace. She looked back at her cousins and Riley and shook her head. "Boys..." she scoffed. "WHAT am I going to do with you two?"

When Roland closed his arms around Jamie, Jamie stiffened for a few seconds. He wasn't one to touch anyone, especially not someone he had assumed was dead for the past few months. Jamie was confused. Roland didn't seem like he had gotten up for anyone else, and Jamie certainly didn't understand why he was so special. Jamie was positive that Cyrus and Amandine were closer to him than he was, and yet Jamie was the one who got a hug.
Jamie gave a small smile before he managed to hide it. He returned the hug, although his stiffness hadn't really gone away. When Ama spoke, and Jamie looked over Roland's shoulder and gave another small smile.

Roland sighed and pulled away, sitting down on the edge of the bed. "Ah, Jamie..." he said, still feeling helpless. "I know this is weird... But I'm home now, and I'm sorry if I scared you. How are you doing? Are you OK?"
He felt a desperate need to ask as many questions as he could, to find a way to get Jamie talking, if just a little bit. The silence was awkward, and Roland didn't want this to be awkward. He had just come back from the dead, as far as they knew, and he wanted the reunion to be as happy as possible.

Roland's gaze connected with Liam when he'd come in the door, and it was enough for the young Ravenclaw boy. He understood that Roland needed time with Jamie... with the entire family really, and Liam was just glad to see Roland alive.
He glanced over his shoulder, curious why Hayden hadn't come in, and that actually worried him more than any of Roland's injuries... he was fine now, right?
Slipping quietly out of the room, Liam headed back to the waiting room, where he found his brother. Hayden was the Ferrera that he felt most connected to, and when he caught his brother's attention, he shoved his hands in his pockets and asked, "You all right?"
