London was were Zeke liked to spend most of his time. There were a few gambling places. Two places he went the most was Billiards and the small casino. Playing against muggles was always fun, play against wizards and it gets a little more interesting.
Gambler and pool player were the two things Zeke would count as his profession. Of course, if anyone asked he didn't do those things. He just did odd jobs to get extra money. It wasn't completely a lie.
Counting cards was the best way to win at Black Jack, Zeke's best game. Walking into the place, he fixed his jacket and walked over to the familiar table. "Evening Carl," he greeted taking his usual seat. Even the dealers at the table knew him. He would either start at Carl's table, or Richard's. Sometimes he would just start somewhere else. He had to keep it going, he never wanted them to suspect a thing.
"Evening Zeke," Carl responded back. Glancing around the table Zeke smiled at the people there. "Let's get this game rolling, hm?"

Sadie looked up as another player joined them, and she looked him over head to toe. If she had to guess, she would say he was far too clean cut to know anything about cards, but then again, people made similar assumptions about her. It didn't hurt that she'd joined this particular game by asking how many points a queen was worth. That was usually how she started a game with strangers... you acted clueless and ditzy, and it distracted them enough.
Her eyes moved back to the deck, which was fresh, and watched carefully as it was shuffled and the cards were dealt.

The girl sitting somewhat across from him yet beside him, since she was sitting on the side, caught his eye. He gave her a wink before turning his attention to the cards. Now it was time to focus on what was being played. There was nothing wrong with counting cards, as long as you didn't get caught.
Carl passed out the cards and then Zeke waited for everyone else to look at their cards before glancing at his hand. Bluff was an excellent skill for the game, and that was what he planned on using.

Sadie refrained from rolling her eyes at that wink, and instead put a well manicured fingernail between her teeth, pretending to think really hard on her cards.
Truth was, this time around, she was dealt a good hand. Blackjack was quick and easy. She usually started out with it to warm up and get some actual money before she found the poker tables, which was her best game.
When the dealer looked to her, she shook her head, indicating she would stay with the two cards she was given.

Carl looked to Zeke next and he gave a nod. Just one card, then he would hope that he was counting right. He looked out of the corner of his eye at the girl. She would serve as a distraction for the quick moment he looked at her. There was something else. Even though she might have been playing dumb, Zeke pulled that one a lot. Of course, he always claimed that he was just lucky. He had to keep up appearances at the table.
After everyone looked at their own cards and took what they needed, the dealer started to flip cards over, so far so good.

Sadie frowned at the cards. She was doing really well, but it wouldn't do to let anyone else know that. She had a couple of advantages right now, and playing dumb was definitely one of them.
She didn't even glance down the table, though she knew at least two of the guys were stealing glances at her. She sighed and crossed her legs, letting the dress she was wearing slide up her thigh, revealing just a little more skin.
"When do I show what I have?" she asked in a pretty little voice.

Yes, women were a weakness to Zeke but when he was focused on cards, it was hard to distract him. Even if the woman was beautiful.
"After Carl flips the last card, which will happen in just a moment." At first, he didn't even look at her but after he watched the last card flip, Zeke looked to her hiding his smile. He had an Ace high.
Zeke was going to be nice. "Now is the time you flip your cards over," he whispered just as Carl asked to see their hands. Two people to his right busted, and the other one hit 18. "It's just you and me sweet cheeks." Zeke gave her a wink. "Ladies first."

Sadie almost laughed, but held it in, looking for all the world like she was hanging on Zeke's every word.
The dealer came up with 20, which made the rest of the hands look kind of bleak, considering her own hand. When Zeke prodded her to flip her cards first, she wrinkled her nose a little.
Out of the corner of her eye, she studied him. He looked confident, but that didn't always mean he had a good hand. She set her two cards face up, revealing a queen and an ace. "Is that good?" Often times, she'd forfeit a hand or two, just to have the players who were easily distracted under her thumb. She was trying with Zeke... well, less the forfeited hand.

Keeping the look of confidence was key to bluffing. At the moment, he didn't need to bluff. Zeke thought that he had a fairly decent hand. A queen, a king and the ace of spades. The image of his hand was frozen in his mind as the woman flipped over her cards.
He took in a silent deep breath. Reminding himself that he was being nice, Zeke put on a smile. "Yes sweet cheeks, that is a great hand." He flipped over his hand, showing the queen, the king and an ace. They had the same number, since he was counting his ace as one. He put a smile on his face. When he had asked the dealer, he was hoping for that king just in case something like that happened. Zeke gave her a wink.
"Let's go again, hm? Maybe you'll have the king high next time." It was just Zeke's way of saying good try. Who knew the next time, maybe he wouldn't be so lucky. Although if anyone ever told him that, he would look at them as if they were insane. He was Zeke Tomlinson, one of the luckiest people when it came to playing pool and cards.

Sadie frowned. She thought for sure she had that one in the bank, and her eyes turned to Zeke again. She was half tempted to ask him why he won instead of a "tie," but she figured that might be going overboard. She would just act like she was taking his word for it.
"All right," she said, biting her lip for effect. Carl, the dealer, looked at her and then pointedly at Zeke. He so badly wanted to roll his eyes. Even Sadie noticed it. Screw him.
"All right, let's go again," she said, and the cards were dealt.

Zeke couldn't remember the last time he really lost a game. Sure, he had gave up a few hands sometimes but that was only if the table wasn't hot.
Looking at his cards, he refrained from frowning. It wasn't so hot this time, but he wasn't going to let this girl beat him. His hand held a 5 and 6. If he could just get a 10 point card, he would be alright.
He glanced at the girl again and gave her another wink. A little flirtation never was any harm.
Once Carl asked about another card, Zeke nodded again, taking his card. He had no such luck of being close to 21. The card Carl gave him was a 3. A total of 14. Bluffing was starting to come into play. He kept his confident look on his face.

Sadie had a similarly bad hand. A 7 and a 9.
She asked for another card, which was a 2, leaving her with 17. She hated having 16s and 17s. They were possibly the worst number to have... too high to really risk another card, but not high enough to win, unless everyone else busted. She would need another card, and the odds of a low one were probably not that great. In fact, she rather suspected she's pull a ten or something.
So she would forfeit the hand.
"Am I allowed to ask for another card?" she asked, looking directly at Zeke and just slightly batting her lashes.

After this hand would usually be the time when Zeke would leave the table. After all, what he noticed so far, it wasn't going to be good. He wasn't going to chance drawing another card because he knew that more than likely the card would be higher than a 7.
"Yes, you are allowed to ask for another card if you want." He observed her face. The innocent look was doing well. It seemed to have Zeke fooled for the moment. He waved a hand showing that he was going to stay were he was.

Sadie nodded, waiting for the dealer to come back to her as she watched the other players at the table. It was definitely appearant that the guy to her left was her only real threat. The guy all the way down the table was grinning, and the guy next to him was rubbing his eyes.
When the dealer looked at her again, she bit her lip, then decided to go for it, even though the odds of a low card were slim. It was time to leave the table anyway.
He tossed her a 3. Now that was luck... no amount of card counting would have told her to expect that break. 20 was a good number to stay at. Her eyes went to Zeke, as if asking what happened now.

"Now that everyone is done taking cards," he said to her lightly, "you just flip them over after Carl flips over his." Zeke ignored everyone else at the table as he always did, except for this girl. She did intrigue him a little more than anyone else, but maybe it was because he had a soft spot for girls anyway especially the ones asking for his help.
The guy grinning flipped over his cards. He had a 13, and then the guy beside him had already tossed in his cards. Zeke swallowed and looked at Carl's hand. The dealer had 18. Zeke was already beaten. He didn't care too much for losing but he didn't show any bad reactions on his face.
Zeke flipped over his cards, revealing his 14. "Now its your turn sweet cheeks."

Lucky break.
She set her cards down, face up, and took her winnings for the hand. The table was dead, and it was time to go. She stood up. "You should go again," she said to Zeke. "Maybe next time you can get..." she paused and looked back at her cards, ready to mock the words he'd said to her before. "9 high." Smiling, she put a hand on Zeke's arm. Leaning in, she whispered, "Thanks for the help."
With a playful wink, she was off to find a decent poker game to join.

He had the exact same idea. "Nah, I think its time for me to go somewhere else." Zeke raised his eyebrows as she mocked him. Oh, he did like this woman. A light smirk fell across his face. He wasn't going to let her get away from him that easily. Zeke had to find out if she was just plain lucky.
Smiling to Carl, he left the table and followed Sadie to whatever table she was going next. "Going to play poker hm? Maybe you could help me out with this one, unless of course you don't really have an idea of what you're doing with this one either...."

She wasn't surprised that he followed her. She had sort of let him in on the fact that she was playing a part at the last table, but she turned to him with deceptively wide eyes as they walked. "Poker's that game where you have to take your clothes off if you lose, right? I'm usually the first one naked."
Maybe he'd buy it, but she wasn't too worried if he didn't. But if he outted her to whatever table she ended up at, there would be trouble.

Zeke couldn't help but let out a laugh. "That's just strip poker." He thought of another line he could have added on to that but for the moment he thought maybe he should just keep that to himself. "You obviously know this is just casino poker." He raised an eyebrow at her. Was she serious? No girl would just walk into a casino with that thought in mind. Zeke wasn't that dumb.
"Maybe we should take this table," he said as two seats opened up. "Looks like it might be lucky."

He did buy it. God, how insipid did he think it was possible for one girl to be?
"Oh. I mean right, of course I knew that."
She took a quick glance at the table he suggested. Her first thought was that there had to be a reason two people just up and left, but the dealer was also changing, which, if she asked prettily enough, also meant a new deck of cards. "All right, looks like as good a table as any."
She flashed him a smile as she sat down, and then turned that smile on the dealer, biting on her nail. "Do you think we can play with a new deck?" She asked, "Since I'm new to the table?"
The dealer nodded. "Sure, sweetheart."
