Riley countered that curse, that she felt like her movements were slower. When she got the chance, she'd have to heal herself, but there was no time right now. Right now, she had to fight.
She cast the jellybrain jinx, the same one that was often used at Quidditch games, hoping it would make it harder for him to think of curses to throw at her, and then sent a body locking curse just after, her right hand pressed against her stomach.

It was pure luck that Lyle dodged the body binding curse, especially since the first jinx she cast hit him. He was suddenly very confused, and he had to think really hard to even remember what was going on.
It took a few minutes to remember "Finite Incantatum," and a couple more to properly say it, but when he was back to normal, Riley was gone.
He looked around... it would have been easy for her to hide, but he would find her. "Come out and play," he said in a sing song voice. Quieter, he said, "Homenum Revelio," and looked around again. According to the spell, she was around the corner of the building, pressed against the wall. He grinned and started towards her.

Roland was having a hard time reversing the curses, because the soap bubbles kept filling his mouth, making it difficult to get the words out. The spell really needed to be done verbally, so he fired a few more shocks at his uncle in hopes of keeping him distracted long enough to clear out his mouth and say the incantation. He spit out a large quantity of bubbles, then quickly said, "Finite Incantatem," while tapping his wand against his cheek.
Finally, the spell was reversed, leaving behind nothing more than a few bubbles and the acrid taste of soap. Next he reversed the Jelly Legs jinx, enabling him to get back up on his feet. Since his uncle was still down, he happened to glance over at Riley.
She was on the ground, and she looked to be in pain. He swore again... he never should have brought her into this. He should have talked to his parents, or his aunt and uncle, or Hayden... She had been right all along.
He needed to end this, as soon as possible. So in a desperate attempt, he aimed his wand at Blake, who was still down. "Avada Kedavra," he said boldly.

Riley should have kept fighting him while he was confused, but she needed to stop the bleeding from her stomach. The blood was pouring over her fingers, and she knew just enough about healing to know that it wasn't good. So while he fumbled, Riley hid.
Crouched behind the building, she was whispering the one healing spell she knew, Episkey. It was for minor injuries, but she figured if she said it enough times, that it would eventually have to work on her. She grit her teeth, though, as every time she said the word, she felt her stomach go very, very hot, and then very, very cold.
In the middle of this, she heard the Death Eater coming for her, and glanced around the corner. It would have to be good enough and hold for now, she thought. At least it wasn't bleeding as much. She stood up, holding her wand out, and waiting for Lyle to come around the corner.

Blake had now retrieved his wand, and he quickly rolled out of the way of the killing curse. Instead, it struck a patch of grass that had sprouted up through a crack in the pavement. It immediately turned brown and withered.
Getting to his feet, Blake looked at his nephew. "Well, well," he said. "Using Unforgivables. I thought you Aurors were trained not to use them. But then, you killed Jordan, didn't you? I should be mad about that, but he really was an imbecile. You did us a favor."
He laughed coldly. "Well, you've held out longer than I expected, actually. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll live to see the New Year." Pointing his wand at Roland, he continued, "Or maybe not. Avada Kedavra!"

Lyle was grinning ear to ear when he finally made himself visible to Riley, rather thinking he would catch her off guard. He planned on finally just killing her... well, in a slow an agonizing way. Maybe he'd make sure Ferrera could see what was happening to her.
Or maybe, his mind traveling down the path Alec's had, he would make sure Ferrera was watching while he violated her. The point was to make the kid suffer, after all.
He wasn't expecting to be met with the blasting curse the second he rounded the corner, though, and he was thrown back several feet. Luckily, there was nothing behind him, or he mind have broken bones. It still hurt like hell.
"You little b*tch," he grumbled, getting to his feet.

Roland glanced over and couldn't see Riley anymore, which worried him. But he didn't have time to think about that, because his uncle aimed a killing curse at him. Roland decided to apparate to avoid the curse, and reappeared up on the roof.
Leaning over the side of the building, he aimed a few stinging hexes down at his uncle, letting him know where he was.

"Funny," Riley said. "How you and your friend were the ones trying to kill me and do whatever else your twisted minds could dream up, but I'm the b*tch. I guess it's about time I live up to the name."
She cast another blasting spell, and then another body binding spell. She just needed to make him incapacitated, and get him out of the way so that she could run and help Roland. Two of them against Blake could do him in quickly.

The blasting spell hit him, sending him back another few feet, and there was a definitive crack! in his ribcage. The girl was starting to do some damage, and it was kind of pissing him off.
Dodging the second spell, he stormed forward. "Crucio!" He ground through his teeth, angrily and intending to cause harm. He could already see where she would block that one, and he let it go, casting the spell again.

Riley couldn't stop herself in time, and she cried out, almost screaming. The pain hit her hard and she had no control over how she reacted right away, but she quickly closed her mouth to stop any more sounds. She couldn't let Roland get distracted. She knew if he heard her scream, he'd be worried, and he'd stop paying attention.
She fell to her hands and knees, her wand falling from her hand and rolling a few feet away from her. The pain was unbearable, but she forced her eyes open, forced herself to work through it until she could reach her wand.
The pain seemed to come at her stronger all of a sudden, if that were possible, and her eyes blurred with tears. Merlin, it hurt so much. Still, she was crawling to her wand, and reached out for it as Lyle laughed.

The stinging hexes hit Blake on the top of his head. At first he didn't realize what was happening, and he reached up and scratched the top of his head for a minute. But as another one hit, he looked up and saw Roland on the roof. "Oh, you think you're clever, do you?" he said, apparating up to the roof, so he was standing just a few feet away from Roland, who was right next to the edge.
"Crucio!"

Roland ducked just in time to avoid the curse, and he quickly moved away from the edge.
"You know, you shouldn't have had your flunky attack Lina," Roland said. "The ministry is overburdened ever since the Hogsmeade attack, and they probably wouldn't have ever gotten around to picking you guys up. But you had to escalate things... otherwise we wouldn't be here right now." He fired a few electric shocks at Blake.

Blake dodged all but one of the spells, which hit him on the shoulder. "You need to learn some new spells," he remarked. "You use that one a lot, it's very predictable." He smiled blandly as he aimed his wand at Roland. "Moving up to the roof was a bad idea. Any well-placed spell could knock you right over the side. Like this one."
He sent a blasting spell at Roland, which would knock him back towards the edge of the building.

Roland put up a hasty shield spell, blocking the blasting curse. "You like that spell," he said mockingly. "Maybe you need to learn some new ones, too."
He moved further away from the edge, so that he was standing closer to the center. "Confundo!"

Blake put up a shield against the Confundus charm, and it was quickly deflected into the air. He let out a yawn. "OK, this is getting boring again. I was really hoping to have dispensed with you by now, so I could be with my darling wife at the start of the New Year."
"Inefficax," he said, aiming a curse that would render Roland's powers almost useless. Then he fired two more quick spells at Roland. "Duro! Incarcerous!"

Roland dodged the second and third spells, but the first spell was so slow-moving that he didn't even realize it hadn't hit yet. As a result, it connected, and he stumbled, suddenly feeling very weak.
He vaguely remembered learning this curse... there was a counter-spell. But he couldn't remember it. Pointing his wand at Blake, he attempted to fire a few curses at him, only to have his wand sputter uselessly. "Damn!" he hissed, and moved as quickly as he could manage with the spell still working its effects on him, so that he was hiding behind a chimney.
"Finite Incantatem," he said, hoping that would do the trick. It didn't, and he was left cowering behind a chimney, wracking his brain for the appropriate counter curse.

Blake let out a loud laugh. "I guess they don't teach you that one in Auror training, do they? It's a very old spell; I learned it in a duel. Takes a little while to wear off, unless you know the counter curse. I know it, but I'm not going to tell you."
Pointing his wand at the chimney, he said, "Confringo."

It was impossible to block the spell from hitting the chimney, especially in his weakened state. The spell struck the chimney, and there was a small explosion, causing the chimney to spray bricks and debris all over Roland. He felt each blow and the sticky sensation of blood as it began to trickle from each wound. Even worse, the chimney had burst into flames, and some of the flames caught on his robe, catching his sleeve on fire.
"Aguamenti," he said almost frantically, but his wand continued to spurt sparks and nothing more.

"Stop, drop, and roll," Blake said, amused. Roland was now exposed behind the burning remnants of the chimney, and Blake advanced toward him slowly. "You know, you're looking tired. Maybe you need a little nap. Stupefy!"

But Roland took Blake's advice and dropped to the ground, rolling away. This put out the fire that was burning on his sleeve, but he could still feel the effects of the flames on his skin, and there was a gaping hole in his sleeve.
The movement also allowed him to avoid the stunning spell, and he got back to his feet slowly, still weak from the ineffectiveness spell. His uncle had moved fairly close to him, and Roland moved backwards slowly, creeping closer to a large chasm in the roof where the building had apparently been poorly constructed.
He had to remember that counter curse....
