Roland dodged the spell easily. It was lucky that he did, as the spell was designed to rip things apart.
"Hmm, not so tough now, are you?" he said cockily. He quickly fired several curses at Blake. The first was a stinging hex, followed by a trip jinx, and a body-binding curse.

Lyle only smiled and took another step towards her, finally backing her into the building, and he came to a stop a foot in front of her. “I’ll be taking that back,” he said, wishing she could see the smile beneath his hood. He reached out and took both of their wands in his hand, which was easily twice the size of hers. “You’ve got a lot to learn about dueling, little girl.” "Stop calling me a little girl!" Riley hissed at him. She knew she was making mistakes, and it was her own fault. She was too jumpy and skittish and distracted. She saw Roland hit the ground, and assumed it was the Cruciatus, and something tore inside her. She wanted to go to him, to help, but he was too far away and Lyle had he cornered, and he had her wand. Roland could handle himself, she needed her head in her half the game.

Lyle let out a cocky laugh. "Oh, darling, this is too easy. Here."
He pressed her wand back into her hand. "I just can't bring myself to ruin that doe-eyed, pretty face of yours. Yet. Why don't we make a lesson out of this?"
Lyle stepped back a few long steps, giving Riley room to breathe again. "Show me what you're made of." He probably should have killed her when he had the chance, but then he'd be bored, waiting for Blake to finish off the other Auror, and Lyle always liked something more of a challange.
"First one's free," he teased her, holding his arms out to the side.

Riley pushed away from the wall, making sure he couldn't back her into it again. He was patronizing her, and there were few things that irritated her more. Still, she should have been counting her blessings that she got lucky and he gave her another shot.
Her Auror training finally kicked in, and she held out her wand. "Conjuctivus!" She said clearly, waiting for it to hit before she reacted. When he blinked suddenly, she knew that his vision was impaired, and she fired the electric shocks at him before running. It was easier to fight if he couldn't see her, and if he didn't know where the curses were coming from.

Lyle smiled. Even as her curses all made their marks, and he stumbled back a few feet, he smiled.
He could hear her footsteps and the other curses she was sending at him, and he started blocking them. She was moving, so they never came from the same spot.
Finally, he was able to put his wand to his temple. "Finite Incantum."
His eyes were locked on her again. "There you go. I knew you had a little fight in you. Crucio!"

Blake was getting annoyed. No way was he going to allow his nephew, who was really little more than a child in Blake's eyes, get the better of him. The first spell connected, creating a sharp stinging sensation on his arm. But he apparated just before the trip jinx hit, and reappeared to the left of Roland.
Immediately, he fired a Jelly Legs curse at Roland.

The Jelly Legs curse struck Roland easily, and immediately he began to wobble unsteadily on his feet. Before he could end the spell, he crumpled to the ground, and his wand slipped out of his hand. It clattered to the pavement, bouncing a couple of times before rolling away.
He swore viciously under his breath as he tried to crawl towards it.

He could have finished it right here. Roland was down, he was unarmed, and he couldn't walk. But suddenly, he was enjoying himself again and wanted to prolong it.
"My, my, such language. What would your mum say if she heard you talking like that?" he said. "Why, I ought to wash your mouth out with soap."
And with that, he fired a spell at Roland that would cause his mouth to fill up with soap.

Roland was unable to dodge the spell, so it struck him. His mouth filled with soap, choking and gagging him. He coughed heavily, trying to clear his throat even as he continued crawling towards his wand. He was close to it now, if only he could just reach it...

But Blake wasn't ready to give up his advantage just yet. He wasn't ready to stop fighting, either, although he could still easily kill him. This was supposed to be a fair fight, wasn't it? Not that Blake really cared about fighting fair. But there was something so mundane about killing someone while they were defenseless. Anyone could do that.
"Crucio!" he said, aiming the curse at Roland.

He still had soap coming out of his mouth, so when the Cruciatus curse struck him, and he began convulsing in pain, it looked rather as if he was having a seizure. Still, Roland drew on every ounce of strength he had to fight off the effects of the curse and keep moving towards his wand. His legs were still numb, so he only had his arms to move him forward as he slithered along the hard pavement. Finally, he was within an arm's reach of his wand, and he stretched his hand out to it, finally closing his fingers around the thin piece of wood.
Moving quickly, he fired two electric shocks at his uncle, not bothering to aim.

Riley ducked, and the curse hit the wall behind her. Pieces of brick fell loose from the building, and she shuddered to think how much that curse would have hurt it if hit her.
"Locomotor Mortis!" She was desperate. Lyle was firing curses at her faster than she could block them, and she was quickly discovering that she was outmatched. Even for all of her training and her own skill, Lyle was better than her. Granted, he had twenty something years experience on her, but she was still frustrated that she wasn't fighting better than this.

As it happened, Roland's haphazard aim managed to connect very well. Both spells hit, the first on his kneecap, and the other on his hand. As a result, he also went down, and his wand dropped from his hand.
He moved quickly, crawling over to where his wand was. Once again, he was annoyed. But he had to hand it to the kid, he was pretty tough. For an auror.

Her spell hit his hand just before he could put up a sheild, and his whole arm suddenlt felt like lead. It wouldn't move, and his wand was locked in his fingers tight.
He gave Riley a look that was almost pleased, like he was almost congratulating her. But he also knew he had to free his wand quickly, because there was no way she wasn't going to take advantage of this.

Riley let out a rush of air, silently thanking God for the repreive. By all rights, she should be dead. Someone was looking out for her. She just hoped that same someone was looking out for Roland.
Just as he finally loosened his wand from his hand and was set to end her curse, she sent the electric shocks to him... a handy curse that she picked up from Roland, actually.

Lyle dogded the first two, but his body jerked as the third hit him square in the chest. Now she was fighting. Now he could have a little fun.
Aiming his wand at her with his now free hand, he laughed as he shouted, "Confringo!"
A red jet of sparks escaped his wand, and he relished the way they transformed into flames as they raced towards the girl.

Riley jumped back, trying desperately to think of the countercurse she needed before the flames hit her. She could already feel the heat, and she knew that if she had to die tonight, this was not that spell that was going to do it to her.
"Ag... Aguamenti!" A stream of water burst from her wand and met the flames just inches in front of her, extinguishing them. She didn't have time to think, she had to just throw curses at him as quickly as she could. "Immobolus!"

It was the downfall of the Aurors that they were trained to try and avoid harming their opponent. Lyle knew that if he pushed enough, she would. She had used an Unforgiveable to kill Alec, after all, but until she felt there was really no other way, she would just keep fighting. Well, that was fine. He was better than her.
He dogded her spell, which was poorly aimed, and started walking steadily towards her. He cast a particularly deadly curse, or at least one that would leave her in agony while she died, that was designed to rip her entrails out of her body.

"Expelliarmus!" She directed this at the curse flying towards her, and the two met and collided in the air, showering both her and Lyle with an almost beautiful display of sparks. Beautiful, if it wasn't so frightening.
His next curse made contact, however, and Riley stumbled. It felt as though a werewolf was in front of her and ripped its claws across her stomach. There was a brief moment of blinding pain before Riley looked down. She was bleeding.

The girl wasn't fast enough, and it made Lyle grin. They really needed to teach Aurors how to defend themselves. Kill or be killed... Death Eaters took no prisoners.
"Are you still trying?" He asked. "I would hate for you to make this any easier. It's so much more fun when you fight back."
He was lazy in aiming is wand for the next curse, though still confident. "Reducto," he said with a little flourish. He wanted her to scream.
