Some of her shorter strands of hair fell into her face and Alenna kept pushing them out of the way as she went down the stairs, but they continued to fall into her eyes. She tripped down the last couple of stairs, which happened when she walked to fast.
"Hey Jeremy," she smiled. She walked over to him and kissed him. "Well don't you clean up good," she teased.

Jeremy's first concern was whether or not she was injured when she tripped. But she was walking fine and smiling, so he relaxed into the kiss.
"Thanks," he said when they pulled away. "You, too. But you're OK, right? I saw you trip. You didn't twist your ankle or anything, did you?"

They pulled away and Alenna took hold of Jeremy's hands. "Oh, I'm fine," she shrugged. "I'm a classic Ravenclaw Klutz, our common room basically has to be bubble wrapped we fall down so often," Alenna laughed at her little joke. "But honestly, I'm fine, no worries," she smiled. "Now, how about that hot chocolate?"

Jeremy laughed. "Yeah, what is it with you Ravenclaws, anyway? You all seem to be unusually clumsy. Is that because you all have such big brains that it messes up your sense of balance?"
He gave her a playful nudge. Really, he could be pretty clumsy himself--enough that Nolan sometimes joked about why he hadn't been sorted into Ravenclaw. "I imagine the Ravenclaw common room must be padded all around to prevent you guys from getting hurt."

"Eh, we get used to it," Alenna smirked. "Now come on," she laughed and took Jeremy's hand, tickling the pear and leading him into the kitchen. The house-elves here knew her well, she snuck down here a lot with her brother at times. "Hello Bobin," Alenna said to the closest elf. "Would it be too much trouble to bring Jeremy and I some hot chocolate?" She smiled as the elf nodded excitedly and scurried off. Alenna laughed at the elf;s excitement and she leaned against Jeremy, still chuckling. "they like me here..." she explained.

Jeremy chuckled. "Yes, the house elves are really nice to most people, I think, except for people who aren't nice to them." He imagined there must be a lot of that type here, and although he'd hardly want to discriminate, he rather assumed most of them would be Slytherins.
He settled down on a stool to wait for their hot chocolate. "You know, I was thinking about the Yule Ball. Maybe instead of dressing up in fancy clothes, we should dress sloppy and cover ourselves in mud. We'd create a scandal, and no one will want to get near us."

"And we'd have the whole ball to ourselves," Alenna laughed, taking a seat next to Jeremy. "Too bad I already bought my dress," she smiled. She looked around the kitchen curiously, wondering if, even after seven years at the school, she could find something new or facinating.
Bobin came back quickly, carrying two mugs of hot chocolate. "Thank you Bibin," Alenna said kindly. The house-elf nodded excitedly and scruuied off, probably to help prepare dinner for the evening. Alenna took the two mugs and handed one to Jeremy. "For you," she smiled.

"Yeah, too bad," Jeremy agreed. "You have to admit, it sounds pretty romantic... just the two of us dancing the night away at the ball, all covered in mud." He laughed. "Never let it be said I don't know how to sweep a girl off her feet."
He looked around as well, but he still saw magic everywhere he looked. Maybe it was just because he was a muggleborn and the magical world still held a lot of mystery and excitement for him, but he chalked it up to the girl sitting next to him. She made even the simplest moments seem magical.
"Thank you," he replied, bowing his head teasingly as he took the mug from him. He sipped from it and smiled. "I wish I knew their secret," he said. "I swear house elves make the best cocoa."

Alenna giggled and then brought the cocoa to her lips. Jeremy was right, this was the best hot chocolate she had in a long time. "My mum used to make it for my siblings and I when we were really little. Everynight before bed. I think her's is the only hot chocolate I'd put above a house-elf's cocoa." Alenna said.
Alenna was always moving, and even now she swung her feet while she sat. "This is fun," she said. "Best date I've ever been on."

Jeremy smiled as she talked about her family. It all sounded so warm and cozy and... perfect. He rarely talked about his own home life, for good reason. He had a wonderful mother, but mostly everything else about his childhood was less than wonderful. His father had been in jail for as long as Jeremy could remember. And for so long, he and his mother had scraped to get by. Things were better now, thanks to the old woman who had left him all that money, but it didn't erase the memories.
It was at times like these that he found himself thinking of the future, trying to imagine what it would be like. He knew he would never repeat his father's mistakes, that much was certain.
"That sounds amazing. I'd love to try your mother's hot chocolate some time."

"Well when you and your mum come over, I'll make sure mine makes some," Alenna said. She sipped at her drink and got some on her upperlip, which she whiped away with her sleeve.
She noticed Jeremy was being a little quiet and she smiled at him from behind her hot chocolate mug. "What are you thinking about?" She asked, tilting her head to the side curiously.
