"You should have said something," Alenna laughed. She had liked Jeremy for a while too, probably not since third year, but for a while. "But I'm glad we gotten to know each other over the years," she smiled and hugged Jeremy back, kissing him lightly on the cheek.

Jeremy shrugged. "I did... eventually," he said. "I wanted to take it slow. To get to know you, and let you get to know me. And the more I got to know you, the more I liked you. I guess... I should have said something sooner, but I was shy."
Now that he and Alenna were together, Jeremy couldn't believe he'd ever been too shy to tell her how he felt. They could have been dating for years if only he'd said something sooner. Still, he couldn't regret the way it had happpened. The important thing was, they were together now.

"We'll we're together now," Alenna said. The sun was warm and Alenna leaned her head on Jeremy's shoulder, giggling as she heard a squelsh from the mud that covered their clothe. "Oh won't we be a sight to see when we get back to the castle..." she laughed.

(I need to do a happy thread....)
Jeremy laughed. "Isn't there something so very satisfying about the squishing noise mud makes when you sit in it?"
He felt like he was four years again, playing in the mud and coming home covered in it head to toe. Only it was somehow much nicer now, with Alenna.
"We'd better steer clear of Filch," Jeremy said. "He'll flay us alive if he sees us tracking mud through the castle."

"And HOW Mr. Swift, do you think we can get ALL the way to our towers without getting caught by Filch?" Alenna laughed. It sounded like a challenge, one that would be fun.

Grinning, Jeremy scooped up a handful of mud and squished it down on top of her leg. "Oh, I don't know. I'm sure we can figure out a way," he said. "I'm a Gryffindor, I'm supposed to be daring. I figure that, plus your brains, and we can make it back up there without Filch seeing us. Although we should probably head straight to the showers, not to the common room." He laughed.
"But I can't say I'm anxious to get back just yet."

"Me neither," Alenna said, grinning. She laughed when he poured the mud on her leg, and responded by taking some and putting in on top of his head. Her smile said 'what are you going to do about it' when she suddenly got up and ran off, laughing and trailing a line of mud behind her.

Jeremy laughed as she piled mud on top of his head. When she ran off, he stood up and chased after her, slip-sliding on the mud as he went. At one point, he bent down and scooped up a couple of handfuls of mud and tossed them in her direction. Both missed their mark, but landed with a splat in the mud at her feet, which sprayed upwards like a muddy rain.

The mud Jeremy threw splattered up and sprayed her. Alenna continued to laugh and threw her own handful of mud, also missing. When she reached an area of the grounds that was less muddy, she spun around on one foot - a habbit from years of ballet prior to Hogwarts - and sat on the grass in the sun, still giggling and covered in mud.

Jeremy couldn't remember the last time he'd laughed so hard or felt so completely free. He was covered in mud and he didn't care. He felt like a four year old, happy and free without a care in the world. Why couldn't it always be this way? Why did there have to be sadness in the world? Maybe all the angry people should just take some time to play in the mud and laugh with another person.
He took a few steps and slid partway along the muddy ground until he landed next to Alenna. He felt so close to her just then... closer than he'd ever felt to anyone else. Laughing, he wrapped his muddy arms around her and pulled her close to him. "We should do this more often," he said at last.

Alenna smiled when Jeremy put his arms around her. She kissed him gently on the lips and leaned her head on his shoulder. "I agree," she said, feeling completely elated. Alenna was sure that if she was any more happy than she was right there sitting with Jeremy, she'd float away. It just felt so good to laugh and simply be happy.

Jeremy let out a contented sigh. "Nolan is going to tease me forever when he sees me like this," he said. "I hope I can sneak back without him seeing me. Or we can figure out how to clean ourselves up. But somehow, that just doesn't seem like as much fun. You know?"
He reached for her hand and gave it a squeeze. With all the mud on their hands, the gesture made a nasty squelching sound and mud oozed through their fingers. Laughing, he said, "Do you get the feeling this might be the moment we'll spend our old age telling our grandchildren about?"

"Nolan's pretty smart," Alenna said. "I'm pretty sure he'll figure it out even if we come back cleaner than we are now," She laughed. The thought of ever getting clean from the mess they were now seemed like an impossible task.
The squelshing noise made her laugh. "It'll be a good story to prove that theres never a bad time to play in the mud." she said.

Jeremy laughed. It was true, Nolan always seemed to be a few steps ahead of him. It drove Jeremy sort of crazy, actually, how he could never quite seem to get anything by his best friend. And yet, Nolan always seemed to have a few secrets that he kept hidden.
"It's too bad it's much too cold to go swimming in the lake," he said. "That'd clean us up fast, but we'd probably die of hypothermia. As it is, it's getting a little cold just sitting here covered in mud."

"Yea, it is starting to freeze up out here," Alenna agreed. Though playing in the mud was fun, Alenna had the feeling that it was probably time to get inside before they got sick.
"Come on," she said, standing up and offering her hand. "I'm thinking of warming up in the kitchens with some hot chocolate, what do you think?"

Jeremy nodded. "Yeah, that sounds good. Let's go get cleaned up and meet in front of the kitchens. We don't even need to go to the common rooms... the bathrooms on the second floor have showers in them. We just have to get there without tracking too much mud into the castle."
He let out a laugh, imagining Filch's face when he saw the trail of mud they were sure to leave behind. It wouldn't be pretty, and he almost pitied the man for the hard work he'd have to do to clean it up. Almost.

"Okay," Alenna said. When Jeremy stood up, she took his hand in hers and they walked up to the castle and to the second floor. Occasionally, they'd pass a student who gave them a funny look, but it didn't matter all that much to Alenna.
When they reached the second floor, she looked back at the trail of mud that followed them. "Uh oh," she said. "We sure caused a mess." she quickly pulled out her wand and contemlated a spell. "Scourgify," she said. The mud didn't all dissapear the way she had hoped, but it sure looked better than when she and Jeremy came through. "Much better," she laughed.
"Alright, I'll meet you by the kitchens in a bit," Alenna said. She kissed Jeremy's cheek and smiled widely before skipping off toward the bathroom for an obviously well needed shower.

Jeremy couldn't quite seem to stop laughing. The whole situation was just too funny... the two of them covered in mud, like a couple of three year olds, trailing it through the castle. He felt unbelievably light and free.
"OK, sounds good," Jeremy said at last, barely getting the words out through his laughter. "I'll see you soon."
He made his way to the boys' bathroom, using the scourgify spell to clean up the mess he left behind. There he showered with his clothes still on, figuring that was the best way to get them clean. After all, he didn't have a change of clothes.
When he was done, he did a thorough drying spell, and ran his fingers through his hair to make sure it was straight. Then he headed downstairs to meet Alenna.

Alenna stepped into the shower, also opting to shower in her robes and then use a drying charm afterward. She used some soap and scrubbed her thick brown hair, trying to get all the dirt and mud out. It was difficult, there was just so much. Alenna did the best she could to clean up, making sure that when she got out of the shower and dried off, it was hardly detectable that there was any mud on her. She then quickly cast a 'scourgify' for anything she missed. She looked in the mirror and threw up her hair quickly. Smiling once at her reflection, she turned on her heels and left to meet Jeremy in the kitchens.

Jeremy stood against the wall by the painting that marked the entrance to the kitchens. His hair was still wet, but there was no trace of the mud that had caked his face and hair and, well... pretty much every part of him. Now his pale skin was tinted pink in anticipation of seeing Alenna.
At the sound of footsteps approaching, he stood a little straighter and attempted to smooth down any hairs that might have been sticking up.
"Hey, Alenna," he said, catching sight of her.
